5. Admission criteria
5.1
Subject-specific Qualification
Please refer to the website of the Central Offices for Foreign Education (Zentralstelle für ausländisches
Bildungswesen ) at www.anabin.de in order to establish whether or not your certificates of study from
your home country entitle you to study in Germany. If not you can attend our Studienkolleg courses or
take the External Assessment Test (Feststellungsprüfung) in order to apply to study at the Charité. This
internet site forms the basis for evaluation of international certificates here in Germany. Education
certificates from abroad can be assessed and the question of eligibility for study in Germany can be easily
established. The following internet sites may also be of use: www.inobis.de or www.daad.de.
If you wish to have your university entrance qualifications verified prior to your application, you can submit
your documents to following address:

Studienkolleg (Preparatory course center)
International and German applicants who are not directly entitled to apply for university here have to take
an exam which will determine whether they have the aptitude to study here. The External Assessment
Test can either be taken immediately or after one year attendance at the Studienkolleg.
Studienkolleg training takes place in the form of „core“ courses that are orientated towards the university
course for which the applicant wishes to apply. At the Charité you can apply for the core area course -Mwhich prepares prospective students for Medicine, Dentistry, Biology and related subjects. Admission to
Studienkolleg will depend on the performance in an aptitude test. At the Studienkolleg of the Freie
Universität Berlin the aptitude test can only be repeated once. Training at the Studienkolleg usually takes
two semesters. Compulsory subjects include German, Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics.
Students training at the Charité Studienkolleg are taught at the Freie Universität campus. While you are
training at the Studienkolleg you will be matriculated as an official Charité student. Please note: Due to
the full timetable and the limited holidays it will not be realistic for you to take on a part time job! When
you pass your Studienkolleg exams you will receive a certificate bound to particular subjects which will
allow you to apply for medical and biological courses of study at the Charité. Successful completion of
Studienkolleg exams does not however guarantee you a place to study at the Charité.
Further information at www.fu-berlin.de/sites/studienkolleg/index.html and www.studienkollegs.de.
If your education certificates are deemed appropriate for direct application to university here, you will not
be permitted to attend the Studienkolleg!.

7. Outcome of the Application
After the preliminary check of your application by uni-assist your data is sent to Charité.
Application for Studienkolleg:
All applicants whose applications were on time and complete will get an invitation to an aptitude test. This
test usually takes place in August.
Application for Medicine or Dentistry degree course:
For international applicants (who are not from the EU) there is a restricted number of places at university
(5% for numerus clausus degrees) which are allocated based on qualification. The qualification is
calculated from the graduation marks.
This group of applicants will not take part at the HAM-Nat test; the selection is only based on the
graduation marks. The Charité also disregards the results from the TestAS.
All applicants will get a written decision per post.
Application for Higher Semesters:
Applications for higher semester can only be considered if there are still free places to study in the
requested semester. Whether there are free places to study will be decided after the process of reregistration of the enrolled students is completed. The re-registration usually closes shortly before the
semester starts.
Remember, that you must submit all required certifications regarding your study time to the Charité!
