What is in the Name? Militarisierung und Internationale Beziehungen
MA-Seminar, Mo 12:00 – 14:00 Uhr
Militarisierung wird in der wissenschaftlichen Literatur sehr unterschiedlich definiert,
beispielsweise als Prozess, Zustand, oder Ziel. Doch was genau verbirgt sich dahinter? Was
genau unterscheidet Militarisierung von Militarismus? Wie äußert sich Militarisierung im
Alltagsleben und inwiefern sind Individuen aufgrund ihres gesellschaftlichen Status oder ihres
Geschlechts unterschiedlich davon betroffen? Inwiefern leisten neue, soziale Medien oder die
Filmindustrie einer Militarisierung Vorschub? Und welche Anzeichen gibt es für eine
Entmilitarisierung oder für gesellschaftliche Proteste gegen eine Militarisierung? Diese und
andere Fragen werden wir im Rahmen des Seminars und mittels Literatur aus
unterschiedlichen wissenschaftlichen Disziplinen, zu beantworten suchen.
Voraussetzungen: Gute Englischkenntnisse, da ein Großteil der Literatur aus dem
angelsächsischen Raum stammt.
Zielsetzungen:
 Verstehen zentraler Begriffe
 Überblick bezüglich relevanter, einschlägiger Literatur sowie grundlegender Debatten
 Bewerten unterschiedlicher theoretischer Ansätze, Forschungsmethoden und
empirischer Ergebnisse
Schlüsselqualifikationen:
 Teamfähigkeit (Gruppenarbeit)
 Rhetorik (Diskussion)
 Präsentation (Poster- und ppt-Präsentationen)
 Wissenschaftliches Arbeiten (Übungen)
Voraussetzungen für den Scheinerwerb:
 Regelmäßige Teilnahme (max. 2 Fehltermine).
 Aktive Beteiligung an Diskussionen auf Basis der Pflichtlektüre.
 Teilnahme an Gruppenarbeit und geplanten Übungen.
 20-seitige Hausarbeit (12 pt Times New Roman, 1.5 Zeilenabstand); siehe auch
Merkblatt zum Verfassen einer Hausarbeit auf OLAT.
Termine:
 15.06.2015: Abgabe eines 1.5-seitigen Abstracts, das die Fragestellung, Relevanz,
den theoretischen Ansatz und die Methodik der geplanten Hausarbeit erläutert.

17.08.2015: Abgabetermin für die Hausarbeit.
