Ausschreibung eines Drehbuchwettbewerbs
In 2003, the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, with support from the corporation responsible for film funding in Bavaria, the FilmFernsehFonds
Bayern, held a screenplay-writing competition for the first time. The first place prize went to Philipp Roth, whose winning screenplay “Schwere
Jungs” was directed by Marcus H. Rosenmüller and became a box-office hit.
It is now time for Garmisch-Partenkirchen’s
Second Screenplay Competition
This year’s competition is being held in cooperation with the U.S. Consulate General and with support from the FilmFernsehFonds Bayern on
the topic:
BAVARIA AND AMERICA
Stories of Freedom and Friendship
Over the years many Bavarians have emigrated to America and
found happiness there. Similarly, millions of Americans have travelled
to Bavaria as tourists, athletes, soldiers, and as political allies.
This relationship between the Free State of Bavaria and the “Land of
the Free” can be portrayed in a variety of ways through film: historical
or contemporary, private or political, short and sweet or epic.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen has a diverse history as a Recreation Area
for the U.S. forces after the Second World War, and as the location
of the Marshall Center for Strategic Studies and many other American
institutions. This history makes the town an excellent source of
fascinating stories about the Bavarian-American relationship.
As a location, Garmisch-Partenkirchen offers both the great outdoors
and historical buildings, as well as inspirational content ranging from
the beginnings of modern tourism and sporting mega-events to the
political and human relationships of today.
Stage 1
Submit a German or English language synopsis of a featurelength cinema film, television film, or TV pilot (minimum of
90 minutes) via mail. The synopsis should have a clear tie to
Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It should not exceed 15 pages with
approximately 2100 characters per page.
Additionally, submit one cinematically fleshed out dialogue
scene (1-2 pages) and a compelling resume.
Submit ten copies of each document.
The deadline is October 17, 2011.
Stage 2
Prizes for the winning screenplays will be:
1st prize: a car worth 10,000 Euros
2nd prize: a 2-wheeler worth 3,000 Euros
3rd prize: 1,500 Euros in cash
The award winners will be honored at a reception hosted by
FilmFernsehFonds Bayern at the Filmfest München 2012.
In November 2011, a jury of experts will pick three synopses from
among the submissions and will invite the authors to turn the
synopses into complete screenplays. The three finalists will be given
a one-week research residency in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The deadline for the complete screenplays is May 15, 2012.
The award winners will be honored at a reception hosted by FilmFernsehFonds Bayern at the Filmfest München 2012.
