The level converter is meant to replace the current
pressure switch units of the LC 109 and LCD 109
controllers as these units are obsolete.

5. Identification
5.1 Nameplate
The level converter is equipped with a piezoresistive
sensor known from the Grundfos LC 220 and LC 221
controllers. The piezoresistive pressure sensor
placed in the level converter is connected via a hose
to a pressure tube in the tank. The hose is connected
to the level converter using a bulkhead fitting.
The hose is connected to the pressure tube head at
the tank.

The rising liquid level compresses the air inside the
pressure tube and hose, and the piezoresistive
sensor converts the air pressure into an analogue
signal.
The level converter uses the analogue signal to start
and stop the pump and to indicate high water-level
alarm.
The new level converter simulates the four switches
of the old pressure switch unit.
The table below shows the switching points of the
different Multilift units corresponding to the liquid
levels.

6. General service information
Warning
Before starting service work, switch off
power supply to lifting station and level
controller. Make sure the power cannot
be accidentally switched on.
1. Close the inlet isolating valve.
2. Drain the discharge pipe by tightening the drain
screw of the collecting tank non-return valve;
this will cause the internal flap of the non-return
valve to be lifted up in order to let the water in the
discharge pipe excape. This is only necessary if
there is no isolating valve in the discharge pipe.
3. Flush the lifting station thoroughly with clean
water. Rinse the parts when dismantling the
lifting station.

Proceed as follows
1. Find a suitable spot on the wall to place the level
converter. Make sure to mount it safely.
2. Open the LC 109 or LCD 109 controller and
locate the connector block for the sensor.
See pos. 2 in fig. 7.
After assembly
1. Open all isolating valves.
2. Check all functions by filling the tank with water
and starting the pump.

The piezoresistive sensor is factory-set for
Multilift MSS, M or MD having a pressure tube length
of 318 mm. This can be seen from the position of the
jumpers JP1 in fig. 6.

3. Disconnect the sensor cable (white cord).
4. Loosen the PG cable entry and remove the old
sensor cable.
5. Remove the old level sensor with tube from the
tank.
6. Install the new pressure tube in the tank.

7. Pull the cable of the new sensor through the PG
cable entry and tighten the PG cable entry.
8. Connect the cable to the connector block
according to the table below.

10. Close the LC 109 or LCD 109 controller.
11. Reconnect the controller to mains and switch it
on.
12. Flush the tank and check the lifting station for
proper operation.

9. Connect the pressure hose between level
converter and screw cap.
To check the function of the level sensor and to verify
that the sensor is operating within the defined levels,
proceed as follows:
1. Remove the pressure tube from the tank again.
2. Fill a bucket with water.
3. Make marks on the tube according to the table
below.
4. Slowly immerse the tube into the water and
watch the reaction of the LEDs when the water
level reaches the various marks. The LEDs on
the LC/LCD control unit, CU 211, should light up
according to the water level in the bucket.

8. Maintenance

Before working on the level converter
or LC controller, make sure that the
power supply has been switched off
and that it cannot be accidentally
switched on. Make sure that the
controller is disconnected from mains
before servicing.

8.2 Mechanical maintenance
Regularly check that the pressure hose is fitted
correctly and that it does not leak.
8.3 Cleaning the level sensor
1. Set the ON-OFF-AUTO selector switch on the
controller to "OFF"
2. Loosen the screw cap by turning it
counterclockwise.
3. Lift the pressure tube carefully out of the
collecting tank. Do not lift it by means of the
hose.
4. Check for possible deposits on or in the pressure
tube and in the condensate trap underneath the
screw cap.
5. Scrape off any deposits. If necessary, remove the
hose from the level converter and rinse the tube
and hose with clean water at low pressure.
6. Refit the pressure tube by screwing the screw
cap onto the tank. Reconnect the hose to the
level converter.
7. Check the sensor by running a test.
9. Disposal
This product or parts of it must be disposed of in an
environmentally sound way:
1. Use the public or private waste collection service.
2. If this is not possible, contact the nearest
Grundfos company or service workshop.

Pumpensümpfe und Schächte, in denen AbwasserTauchmotorpumpen zum Einsatz kommen, können
Abwasser mit giftigen und/oder gesundheitsschädlichen Substanzen enthalten. Deshalb müssen alle
beteiligten Personen geeignete Schutzausrüstung
mit sich führen und die vorgeschriebene Schutzkleidung tragen. Bei allen Arbeiten an der Pumpe und
am Einsatzort sind die geltenden Hygienevorschriften zu beachten.

4. Allgemeine Informationen
Bei ansteigendem Füllstand wird die Luft im Staudruckrohr und Schlauch komprimiert. Der piezoresistive Sensor wandelt diese Druckänderung dann in
ein Analogsignal um.
Der Niveauwandler verwendet das Analogsignal zum
Ein- und Ausschalten der Pumpe(n) und zum Auslösen eines Hochwasseralarms.
Der neue Niveauwandler simuliert die Funktion der
vier Schalter der alten Druckschaltereinheit.
In der nachfolgenden Tabelle sind die Schaltpunkte
für die verschiedenen Multilift Hebeanlagen in
Abhängigkeit der Füllstände aufgeführt.

Alte Druckschaltereinheit
Der Niveauwandler ist mit einem Piezoaufnehmer
ausgerüstet, der auch in den Grundfos Niveausteuerungen LC 220 und LC 221 eingesetzt wird. Der im
Niveauwandler angeordnete piezoresistive Drucksensor ist über einen Schlauch mit einem Staudruckrohr im Sammelbehälter verbunden. Das eine Ende
des Schlauchs wird an den Niveauwandler mithilfe
einer Schottverschraubung
und das andere Ende an den am Sammelbehälter
befindlichen Kopf des Staudruckrohrs angeschlossen.

LCD 109 ersetzen, weil die Produktion eingestellt
wird und die Druckerschaltereinheiten deshalb nicht
mehr verwendet werden.

Vor dem Ausbau

Warnung
Vor Beginn der Servicearbeiten ist die
Spannungsversorgung zur Hebeanlage
und der Niveausteuerung abzuschalten und gegen unbeabsichtigtes oder
unbefugtes Wiedereinschalten zu
sichern.
1. Das Absperrventil in der Zulaufleitung schließen.
2. Die Druckleitung durch Anziehen der Ablassschraube im Rückflussverhinderer des Sammelbehälters entleeren. Durch das Anziehen der
Ablassschraube wird die Klappe im Rückflussverhinderer angehoben, so dass das Abwasser in
der Druckleitung in den Sammelbehälter zurückfließen kann. Eine Entleerung der Druckleitung
ist nur erforderlich, wenn in der Druckleitung kein
Absperrventil eingebaut ist.
3. Die Hebeanlage sorgfältig mit sauberem Wasser
abspülen. Nach dem Zerlegen der Hebeanlage
auch die einzelnen Bauteile sorgfältig abspülen.

6. Allgemeine Reparatur- und
Wartungsanweisungen
Anordnung der Steckbrücke für die
Multilift MSS, M oder MD
Vorgehensweise
1. Den Niveauwandler an einer geeigneten Stelle
an der Wand sicher befestigen.
2. Den Deckel der Niveausteuerung LC 109 oder
LCD 109 abnehmen und die Anschlussleiste für
den Sensor ausfindig machen. Siehe Abb. 7,
Pos. 2.
Nach dem Zusammenbau
1. Alle Absperrventile öffnen.
2. Alle Funktionen prüfen. Dazu den Sammelbehälter mit Wasser befüllen und die Pumpe(n) einschalten.

Der piezoresistive Sensor ist ab Werk für die Multilift
MSS, M und MD voreingestellt, bei denen die Länge
des Staudruckrohrs 318 mm beträgt. Dies ist aus der
Anordnung der Steckbrücke JP1 in Abb. 6 ersichtlich.

7.1 Überprüfen des Niveausensors
Zum Überprüfen der ordnungsgemäßen Funktion
des Niveausensors und der vorgegebenen Schaltpunkte ist wie folgt vorzugehen:
1. Das Staudruckrohr aus dem Sammelbehälter
ausbauen.
2. Einen Eimer mit Wasser füllen.
3. Markierungen auf dem Staudruckrohr entsprechend der nachfolgenden Tabelle anbringen.
4. Das Staudruckrohr langsam in das Wasser im
Eimer eintauchen und auf die einzelnen LEDs
achten, wenn die Wasseroberfläche die unterschiedlichen Markierungen erreicht. Die LEDs an
der Steuereinheit CU 211 der LC/LCD-Niveausteuerung müssen entsprechend der Eintauchtiefe im Wassereimer aufleuchten.

Warnung
Vor Beginn der Wartungsarbeiten am
Niveauwandler oder an der LC-Niveausteuerung ist die Spannungsversorgung abzuschalten und gegen unbeabsichtigtes Wiedereinschalten zu
sichern. Wartungs- und Reparaturarbeiten dürfen nur durch Fachpersonal
ausgeführt werden. Zudem ist sicherzustellen, dass die Niveausteuerung vor
Beginn der Wartungsarbeiten allpolig
vom Netz getrennt ist.

8.1 Wartungsarbeiten an der Elektrik
Die elektrischen Bauteile sind wartungsfrei.
8.2 Wartungsarbeiten an der Mechanik
Überprüfen Sie regelmäßig, ob das Staudruckrohr
richtig eingebaut ist und keine Undichtigkeiten aufweist.
8.3 Reinigen des Niveausensors
1. Den EIN-AUS-AUTO-Wahlschalter an der
Niveausteuerung in Stellung "AUS" drücken.
2. Den Schraubdeckel durch Drehen gegen den
Uhrzeigersinn lösen.
3. Das Staudruckrohr vorsichtig aus dem Sammelbehälter herausziehen. Dabei nicht am Schlauch
ziehen.
4. Das Staudruckrohr und den Kondensatabscheider, die beide unter dem Schraubdeckel angeordnet sind, auf mögliche Ablagerungen prüfen.
5. Eventuell vorhandene Ablagerungen entfernen.
Falls erforderlich, den Schlauch vom Niveauwandler abziehen und das Staudruckrohr und
den Schlauch mit sauberem Wasser mit nur
geringem Strahldruck reinigen.
6. Den Schraubdeckel mit montiertem Staudruckrohr wieder auf den Sammelbehälter aufschrauben. Den Schlauch wieder an den Niveauwandler
anschließen.
7. Die Funktion des Sensors im Rahmen eines Testlaufs prüfen.
9. Entsorgung
Dieses Produkt sowie Teile davon müssen umweltgerecht entsorgt werden:
1. Nutzen Sie die öffentlichen oder privaten
Entsorgungsgesellschaften.
2. Ist das nicht möglich, wenden Sie sich bitte an
