Increase the life of your actuating tool
by regular service intervals at MAPAL.
Actuating tools are complex systems.
Similar to machine tools, slide tools, tools with contact
stop, centrifugally controlled and coolant actuated tools
are often subject to massive wear. This wear is reflected on
your work piece by tolerance deviations and inaccuracies
and can even lead to a breakdown of the tool (see pictures
“tool wear” on page 3). For an optimum machining quality and in order to avoid irreparable tool wear, we would
recommend periodic preventive maintenance.

Regular maintenance intervals prevent tool breakdowns.
The formation of grooves and other signs of wear are kept
low by regular service intervals. Oil loss and the consequential insufficient lubrication of the moving parts in the
tool are avoided. Any resulting subsequent damages such
as, for example, a large backlash between slide and basic
body can be minimized and do not cause any negative
changes of the traction / pressure forces. Therefore, the
machining results are not worsened. Tool breakdowns and
production stops are prevented (see diagram “Quality and
Accuracy”).

Dieser Verschleiß spiegelt sich in Form von Toleranzabweichungen
und Ungenauigkeiten an Ihrem Werkstück wieder oder kann sogar
zum Ausfall des Werkzeugs führen (siehe Abb. Werkzeugverschleiß). Überbrücken Sie jetzt produktionsfreie Zeiten mit vorbeugender Instandhaltung, um Ihre Werkzeuge für zukünftige

Service agreements:
MAPAL offers several different types of custom-made
service agreements, which guarantee that your production runs
smoothly.
Simple service agreement:
Based on the maintenance intervals of the individual tool types,
repair times and procedures are defined for the individual tools.
Service agreement including storing of wear parts:
Wear parts are defined and stocked in cooperation with the
customer. This can reduce the maintenance time substantially in
case of service or repair.
Service agreement including logistics:
Besides the service required, all logistics and information work
are carried out by MAPAL ISOTOOL.

MAPAL Services – balancing on site
Before MAPAL tools are shipped, they are balanced according to the balancing quality required for each case of
application. Especially with respect to actuating tools the
total system should be precision-balanced after the tool is
mounted on the spindle.
By eliminating vibrations the surface finish and the
roundness of the work piece are improved. In addition the
reduction of vibrations has a positive effect on the tool life
of the inserts.
MAPAL is in a position to offer this balancing service on
site. The total system (spindle – tool) is analysed directly
on the machine by means of a mobile balancing device,
and the vibrations are reduced. Also resonance analyses
can be carried out in order to determine the speed range
where the spindle runs the most smoothest way possible.
This service guarantees high machining qualities and stable
processes.
