The festival runs from 10am to 10pm Saturday and 10am to 9pm Sunday. Admission to the event is free both days. Dube, hired Nov. 1, 1958, intended to stay for six months until he could a=ord to return to college but his temporary job as a bus operator turned into a life-long career. “It’s been a pleasure for me to work here and I’d like to stay on quite a few more years,” he says. Metro Bus Operators Donald Dube and Jack Bailey love their jobs. So much so that both were honored recently by the Metro Board of Directors for each having more that 50 years on the job. The festival runs from 10am to 10pm Saturday and 10am to 9pm Sunday. Admission to the event is free both days. Dube, hired Nov. 1, 1958, intended to stay for six months until he could a=ord to return to college but his temporary job as a bus operator turned into a life-long career. “It’s been a pleasure for me to work here and I’d like to stay on quite a few more years,” he says. The same year the then-new LA Dodgers won their >rst pennant, Jack Bailey went to work for the Los Angeles MTA on July 6, 1959. A line instructor and a mentor to new employees, he’s never been late to work in the entire 50 years. “It’s been wonderful to have 50 years of steady employment,” says Bailey.
