Anti-Idling • Network with BSC communities so that a minimum of 25% of the communities are implementing anti-idling policies or regulations. • Encourage private/public sector partners to have anti-idling policies 2. Truck Stop Electrification • Increase truck stop electrification (TSE) sites in the BSC area to 40 by June 2008 3. BSC On-Road challenge • Target 50 retailers/shippers headquartered in the BSC area to take the BSC On-Road Challenge 4. Clean School Bus USA • Increase Clean School Bus funds from $1.2 million to $3 million by leveraging funds from other agencies and partners. 5. U.S./Mexico Border • Retrofit 100 vehicles on the U.S./Mexico border and promote diesel emissions reduction efforts on both the US/Mexico and US/Canada Borders. Anti-Idling Goals • Network with communities so that a minimum of 25% of the Blue Skyways communities are implementing anti-idling regulations or policies. (By June 2007) • Encourage Blue Skyways private and public sector partners to have anti-idling requirements or policies. Auxiliary Power Units Truck Stop Electrification Goal • Increase truck stop electrification sites in Blue Skyways states to 40 by June 2008. On-Road Challenge • Target 50 retailers/shippers headquartered in BSC states to take the On-Road Challenge. International Border Goals • Retrofit 100 vehicles on the US/Mexico Border in the Blue Skyways area Increase FAST (Free and Secure Trade) lanes at border crossings from 5 to 8 by 2008. CANADA Accomplishments to Date On-Road On-Road Subcommittee Subcommittee • May 4, 2006 - EPA released a model for a state idling law. • 12 TSE sites so far • OnRoad Challenge: • WalMart asking their carriers to join SmartWay • Peterbilt • School Buses Press Events • Dallas, Arkansas • BSC Clean School bus RFP • Application deadline extended until 9/26/06 • Largest single payment was $748k to Garland ISD – • Used to retrofit 110 buses Border/School Bus – • City of Laredo • 59 school bus retrofits had been conducted • 3 new school buses were purchased • 3 were outfitted for alternative fuels Non-road Subcommittee 1. Introduce E85 into the Fuel Supply in Areas Where it is Currently Unavailable 2. Showcase a Biodiesel Project in the Agriculture Community* 3. Encourage the use of hybrid vehicles for greater fuel efficiency* 4. Share Information & Encourage Alternative Renewable Fuels * In cooperation with the Non-Road Subcommittee Accomplishments to Date Fuels Fuels Subcommittee Subcommittee • For E85 we have had Stakeholder meetings in Austin and Tulsa, both areas with no E85 fuel. • H-E-B Grocery company opened 5 E85 fueling stations along I-35 in August. • Outreach in the Agriculture community with regard to biodiesel: production and use. • Working with EPA Headquarters to fast-track the introduction of hydraulic hybrids into the marketplace.
