After the work on our prize winning game Frontiers, gold extra currently works on a new game/interactive
documentary project. "From Darkness" was awarded with the Salzburger Landesmedienkunstpreis 2012
and shows east african realities of life in Kenia and Uganda - an area in between booming region, victim of
civil war and conflicts over resources.
In 2012 gold extra conducted a research trip to east Africa, at the moment the team works on the
advancement of the project. It will be released end of 2015.

„Masks, canoes, totem poles – how do these objects end up in a museum? The project „Totem's Sound“ by
the Austrian artist group gold extra portrays the meeting of different cultures and the formation of parts of the
collections of the Ethnological Museum in Berlin.

A performative and audiovisual experimental film: currents of electricity and its production were
analyzed and introduced into a human host via electrodes. The resulting impulses and physical
motions were recorded in the powerplant Wien Simmering. The visual material was then animated, edited
and mixed with Max Bense's text "technical existence" (written in 1949), where the philosopher Bense
adresses ethical question concerning mankinds uneasy relationship with machines & technology.

'Scarti di avviamento' is the term for the "trash" that occurs in the printing machine, when its 2 drums are
being cleaned with paper in between 2 printing cycles. This by-product sometimes brings out artistic or
bizarre randomized art pieces. In his Project "Scarti Remixed" Reinhold Bidner tries to simulate this process
with a digital Randomizer, which by accident double-exposes various of the photographs he developed in the

“Laban‘s Nightmare“ is a live generated Media Dance Performance by 1n0ut, which was developed during
PARKINPROGRESS August 2012 in Pannonhalma – HU. Basically it is a Pas de Deux between a real
dancer and its virtual counterpart.
The Question of singularity is an important impulse in our work, what happens if our being is analyzed and
reproduced by machines and if our human patterns are being processed in a new way to develop a posthuman creature? What happens at that point, can a live generated algorithm pretend creativity due to a cut
up and a new synthesis of human movement- and body-samples?

SUBtext is Reinhold Bidner´s ongoing personal series of photographic daily life encounters. Subjective
observations that he considers to be meaningful enough to include in his photographic Oeuvre..
This project exists since 2003, Reinhold still chooses his motives for the same reasons, it is still about the
belief in the uniqueness of us as individuals, either in front or behind the camera, and it is still about his belief
that the photographic representation of the normality of daily life can sometimes be more poetic than a
constructed image. This is the impulse why Reinhold still wants to contribute photographic stories to this
"Flickr-/Facebook-and Instagram-contaminated world".
Reinhold is a fan of telling these stories with 2 elements, which means that he likes to find 2 elements in a
single picture that somehow relate to each other, or, he tries to create image pairs, that somehow react with
each other and therefore form a further "subtext". In his photographic approach he is not really attracted to
"fake beauty", but rather to honesty, realism, sometimes absurdity, subtle humor and occasionally despair as
well, because in his opinion, that´s key elements to life.

A moving image. And a story about Portrait-Paintings being tired of tired looking museum visitors. “During
this virtual museum tour the painting is covered by a veil of drops that reflect the movements of Louvre
visitors, who are both tired and hectic. Through this formal choice Bidner keeps the viewer at a distance,
while at the same time adding a second level: that of the museum visitors who, due to their exhaustion, see
nothing. Together with Richard Eigner, who made the swelling and diminishing soundtrack, Reinhold Bidner
successfully created a sensitive study on human behaviour in the museum of the 21st century. The audience

In Franz Kafka’s THE TRIAL, 1n0ut found a world full of loops, repeats, instructions and protocols which are
familiar parts of every computer programme. This classic text becomes the springboard for a stereoscopic
real-time dance theatre piece. The images of the performers are gathered digitally, manipulated and remixed
live to plunge an audience each wearing 3D cinema glasses headlong into a thrilling and disturbing illusory
world. What steers mankind, what goes, what is lie, what is the logic of the absurd and what the illogicality of
reality?

For these Photographs I used various ways of Reflection, like water, Glass, Mirrors, broken Mirrors etc.
This Project deals with questions of Identity and exploring your own Persona.
A Portrait Photograph can depict an image of the soul and in that case it´s a double mirror that is held up to
the portrayed Person.
