Dear Parents, Friends, Students and Teachers:
closure notices on our website www.german-languageschool.ca If you are still unsure due to poor weather and
bad roads, you can call the GHLS number 425-7657.
We welcome new students, returning students and their
families to the 2010-2011 year of the German Heritage
Language School! Our Fall Term began very successfully
with a student body of 65, eight teachers, and four
classroom helpers.
Laternenfest
Our Laternenfest will be held
November 13 at the Fairbanks
Center in Dartmouth. Everyone
is invited! The celebration will
begin at 3:30pm with a potluck
meal, after which we will begin our walk carrying our
Laternen and singing traditional songs such as “Laterne,
Laterne” and “Ich geh mit meiner Laterne”. We will
provide song sheets. Remember to wear warm clothing!
Please bring some finger food and juice for the potluck. We
ask that all young students be accompanied by a
responsible adult or parent
Closing Ceremony and Scholarship
Last April we awarded the Gerta Josenhans Memorial
Scholarship to Daniel Shott, who has studied diligently for
many years at the school. After the Closing Ceremony, the
school began Spring Term with the extension of a
children’s class and two adult classes to the end of May.
Oktoberfest Draw
We wish to congratulate Eva Mader as the winner of our
Oktoberfest draw. She wins a tuition-free term at the
GHLS.
Weihnachtsfeier
Our Weihnachtsfeier and potluck
Christmas party will be held on
December 5 at 4pm in the Lutheran
Church at 2096 Windsor Street. The
German Canadian Association is invited
to join us. St. Nikolaus will visit the
children.

wo de Olsch mit det Licht die de Lüt betrücht
die de Eier holt und se nicht betolt.
