The field of decoration on glass ware is
manifesting a growing interest in the use of
organic colours in substitution of traditional
thermo-plastic enamels.
Using organic colours offers numerous advantages
as compared to traditional decorating processes
using thermo-plastic enamels, such as, for example:
• a vast variety of colours,
• significant energy cost savings due to the lower
temperatures required in the decorating ovens,
• the possibility of creating four-colour processing
decorations, with photographic quality,
• the absence of heaving metals in the colours.
FERMAC has responded to this evolution in market
demand with a new series of machines dedicated to
this technology and also by creating various systems
that allow integrating the new technology on the
majority of existing machines:
•UVTREAT : an off-line device to pre-treat the
surface of glass objects so as to optimise the
adherence of organic colours catalysed with UV
rays. This device may also be used in combination
with various other types of machines for direct
silkscreen printing on glass.
•RETROFIT UV : the possibility of adding up to
4 UV lamps on existing automatic machines,
allowing decoration with up to 4 colours.
•SERIE RUV : a complete range of automatic
electronic machines for decoration with up to 8 UV
colours.
Le secteur de la décoration sur les objets en
verre a connu dernièrement une évolution
concernant le procédé d’impression. Nous
rencontrons de plus en plus de demandes sur le
marché pour utiliser des procédés d’impression
organiques au lieu du procédé conventionnel avec
les émaux thermofusibles. Ce procédé possède
un certain nombre d’avantage par rapport au
procédé conventionnel de décoration avec émaux
thermofusibles:
Im Bereich der Dekorationen auf
Glasgegenständen wächst das Interesse für die
Verwendung von organischen Farben anstelle
der üblichen Thermofusionslacke. Der Einsatz von
organischen Farben bietet zahlreiche Vorteile im
Vergleich zu den traditionellen Dekorationsprozessen
mit Thermofusionslacken, wie z.B.:
• eine große Farbvielfalt,
• grande variété de couleurs sans métaux lourds,
• eine erhebliche Reduzierung der Energiekosten,
dank der für den Dekorationsofen geringeren
Temperaturen,
• réduction des couts de consommation
énergétiques liés à la haute T°C des arches,
• Realisierung von Dekorationen im Vierfarbendruck
in Fotografiequalität,
• possibilité de réaliser des décors photographiques
en quadrichromie.
• Die Farben enthalten keine Schwermetalle.
Cette évolution de la demande nous a conduit à
développer un système complet permettant de
répondre à cette exigence en offrant la possibilité
à nos clients d’imprimer avec des encres UV.
Notamment, FERMAC a réalisé plusieurs systèmes
permettant l’intégration de ce nouveau procédé de
décoration sur certaines machines existantes ou sur
des nouvelles machines entièrement dédiées:
• UVITREAT: dispositif hors ligne de pré traitement
de la surface du verre pour optimiser les
caractéristiques d’accrochage de l’impression
UV. Ce dispositif peut etre mis en ligne devant
n’importe quelle machine de décor disponible sur
le marché.
• RETROFIT UV: possibilité d’intégration de
lampes UV sur machines automatiques existantes
permettant la décoration jusqu’à 4 couleurs.
• RUV Series: une gamme complète de machines
permettant d’imprimer de 4 à 8 couleurs en
automatique.
FERMAC antwortet auf diese Evolution der
Nachfrage mit einer neuen Serie von Maschinen,
die dieser Technologie gewidmet sind, sowie mit
der Realisierung von verschiedenen Systemen, die
auch in einem großen Teil der bereits bestehenden
Maschine integriert werden können.
• UVITREAT: eine Vorrichtung außerhalb der
Vorbehandlungslinie der Glasoberflächen, um
die Haftung der, durch UV-Strahlen katalysierten
organischen Farben zu optimieren. Diese
Vorrichtung kann auch zusammen mit anderen
Maschinen für einen direkten Siebdruck auf Glas
eingesetzt werden.
• RETROFIT UV: die bereits vorhandenen
automatischen Maschinen können mit bis zu 4
UV-Lampen nachgerüstet werden, dank der man
Dekorationen mit bis zu 4 Farben realisieren kann.
• RUV Serie: eine komplette Produktpalette
an automatischen Maschinen, vollkommen
elektronisch, zur Dekoration mit bis zu 8 UVFarben.

performance of the new linear camera systems,
the machine allows guarantying incomparable
precision and offers customers the possibility
of optimising production lines by eliminating
the manual or statistical control stage.
These new control systems may be perfectly
integrated on all electronic machines and allow
reaching unique performance levels in terms of
precision, reliability and simplicity of use.
The interface has been specifically designed
to allow the operator to set-up the item easily
and quickly.
The system programme has been designed
taking into account the specificity of the
glass items and the most frequent types of
decoration on this type of item.
CENTRUM
Grace à la technologie numérique et aux

lineare Fernsehkameras, kann die Maschine
ein unvergleichbares Präzisionsniveau
garantieren. Da die Phase der manuellen oder
statischen Kontrolle wegfällt erhält man eine
Optimierung der Produktionslinien.
Diese neuen Kontrollsysteme können auf
perfekte Weise auch auf allen elektronischen
Maschinen eingesetzt werden. Man erhält

FERMAC has created a pre-treatment
system for glass surfaces that uses a
silane gas mixture that improves the
adherence of the colour.
This system, which may be put on-line
with any automatic machine for direct
silkscreen printing on glass present on the
market, is composed of:

• a silane gas mixture treatment station
(mounted by Fermac but manufactured
and patented by an external supplier),
• a device that unloads the ware on the
machine conveyor.

This operation consists in modifying the
protection panels in fitting the lamp
supports and the cooling and the fume
extraction system so as to render the
installation conformant to regulations in
force.

This modification allows obtaining up to 4
UV colours. The system is designed to allow
convert back to decorating mode using
thermo-plastic enamels easily and quickly.
