Exkursion in den Harz

Zu Zeiten von Leibniz war Bergbau die High-Tech-Industrie und der Silber- und Bleibergbau im Oberharz
sowie die Eisenbergwerke und -hütten am Harzrand eines der bedeutendsten Industriereviere in
Deutschland. Steuern und Abgaben aus dem Harzer Bergbau trugen wesentlich zu den Einkünften der
fürstlichen Höfe in Hannover und Wolfenbüttel bei. In die Gruben drang ständig Wasser ein; es war daher
eine wichtige Aufgabe, das Wasser herauszufördern, um die Bergwerke trocken zu halten und damit die
Blei- und Silber-Förderung überhaupt erst zu ermöglichen. Dies geschah mit Wasserrädern. Es entstand
das damals größte Wasser- und damit Energieversorgungssystem Europas, das Oberharzer Wasserregal,
das jetzt zum UNESCO Weltkulturerbe erklärt wurde. Es umfasste 143 Stauanlagen (Teiche), 500 km
Hanggräben und 30 km Wasserüberleitungsstollen, von denen heute noch 65 Stauanlagen, 70 km Gräben
und 20 km untertägige Wasserläufe erhalten sind. Leibniz' Windmühlenprojekt ist vor diesem
Hintergrund zu sehen.
Die Exkursion hat Leibniz' Wirken im Oberharzer Silberbergbau und das Oberharzer Wasserregal zum
Thema.
An der Exkursion Interessierte können sich im Kongressbüro anmelden. Die Exkursion beginnt um 8.45
Uhr (Zentraler Omnibus-Bahnhof, nahe dem Hauptbahnhof) und endet um ca. 17 Uhr. Der
Unkostenbeitrag beträgt 10 Euro.
