2009 Replacement of the duplex computer-system for HBW Building
1 (Presswerk) at VW Wolfsburg during ongoing production. The
hardware replacement was done in combination with software
modifications to allow for switching from MaxBD to Oracle as
database system.

By using the SIT simulation software it could be ensured, that
the commissioning of the high bay warehouse software could be
performed and successfully completed on just one Saturday.
2008 Air cargo container storage system used by the international cargo
service of Lufthansa German Airlines at O'Hare airport in Chicago /
USA: Migrating the system to a new hardware / software platform
(from two MicroVax 3100/10e under VMS 5.5, Digital Rdb 4.2 to two
HP Integrity rx2660 unter OpenVMS 8.3, Oracle Rdb 7.2). Creating a
64bit interface (AB-DataHighway) under OpenVMS and Windows XP
to the underlying Allan Bradley PLCs (for simulation purposes).
With the help of the SIT simulation software it could be ensured by
most intensive tests in Neuss that the on-site conversion in Chicago
could be performed within one day without affecting the normal cargo
operations. The final customer even issued the acceptance for the
conversed system during the two weeks on-site supervising phase.
Within one year after system acceptance (i.e. until today) only
one fault report was issued (regarding the automatic switching to
and from daylight saving time).
2007 Modernization and consolidation of the security and availability
standards of the high bay warehouse at the distribution center Limito
(Italy) by replacing computer hardware and software: The existing
HACMP cluster on AIX platform was replaced by a virtual server
architecture on the basis of the VMware infrastructure platform and
RedHat Linux. Amending the application software to further optimize
the warehouse operations and porting the software to RedHat Linux.
2007 Modernization of the high bay warehouse VZ7-GTL at VW plant
Emden (Replacement of all PLCs, modernization of stacker crane
drives, changing the MODBUS link of all PLCs from serial interface to
TCP/IP, changing the data transfer with the stacker crane PLCs from

2001 Ambitious software-technical extensions of an existing logistics centre
of a marketing company for computer parts:An automatic 5 aisles high
bay warehouse with about 9.400 storage locations for euro pallets,
a channel storage system (about 800 storage locations) with semiautomatic supply, various bin deposits and special storage systems
for spare parts. Those storage places that are not automated, are
supplied and disposed by complex conveying plants for Trays.
• Introduction of a paperless multi-step order picking system using
50 backhand scanners and displays connected to the warehouse
management computer via radio controlled data transmission.
• Integration of the tray conveying plants into the WMS-system for
automation of order picking and package proceedings.
