Public Education is at it again.
Pat Mozden
We will be appearing at the Southeast Volusia Humane Society Spring Fling.
The event will be from 10 to 3 on May 18 and will be held at the SEVHS on Glencoe
Road in New Smyrna Beach. Janet Berry will be setting up an agility course so that
visitors can try the obstacles with their dogs and I will bring literature and information
on our classes.
Janet and I need HELP that day. Please let me know if you can stop by for a couple
of hours and give us a break - we appreciate it. [email protected]
Responsible Dog Owner Day. To be held again at the Volusia Mall on Saturday,
September 7th. We will probably use the same format - the public loves it - and it
works for us too. If you performed last year we'll be asking you again
so mark the date.

Quick Notes
OCOD will hold a C-Match on Friday,
July 19 from 2:00pm to 7:30pm. Last
person in the ring at 7:30. We have to
leave the building by 8:00pm.. Club
members that help set up for the trial will
be able to run their dogs through as soon
as all rings are set up, workers will get one
free run. The runs will be $5.00 each and
there will be limited number of tickets
sold so we don’t go over our time limit.
Rally will be added this year.

2nd place both days in Novice Musical Freestyle and
earned two legs on 3-16 & 17-2013 at the Freestyle
Competition. “Florida Follies” held in Sarasota.
Linda Stites and Linray’s Frosty Paws “Frosty Paws” won
1st Place both days in PDP (Perfect Dance Partner) and
earned a (PDP) Title ON 3-16 &17-2013 at the Freestyle
Competition. “Florida Follies” held in Sarasota. This is the
highest title offered in Freestyle Competition.

a leg in Master Jumpers With Weaves on 4-4-13; a leg in
Excellent FAST on 4-5-13 with a 1st Place Win; a leg in

DOCOF Try-outs
(Dog Obedience Clubs Of Florida)
Ray Stites, Renee’ Johnson and Brandy Schmid will hold try-outs and practice during the May 8th
set of classes. The ring will be set up at 6:30 so those that are teaching or assisting can try out.
DOCOF is held on Sunday, September 2nd at the Orlando Fairgrounds. This is a statewide
competition and OCOD has always sent
at least one team to participate. A Team consists of 3 Novice, Open and Utility
handlers and dogs.
We hope you will come and try out for our OCOD Team.
You must have been a member since March 1, 2013 to try out for the team.

General Meeting Minutes
April 8, 2013
Meeting was called to order at 7:05pm
Wins and brags were announced.
Pat Mozden introduced Blake Thomas from State Farm Insurance to speak on Homeowners
Insurance and dog owners.
Minutes from the last meeting were printed in the newsletter and approved by Janet Narushka and
seconded by Carol Clifton.
New Members: Todd and Alice Feldman were welcomed as new members. New member
applications were received from Phyllis Rehmar and William Johnson, and Jay and Barbara Young
Treasurer's Report:
Income for March - $3345.17
Expenses for March - $2584.40
Total for March - $760.77
Report of Committees:
T-Shirts: Carol Clifton announced she has T-shirts available at class and at the club meetings.
Please use a check to purchase no cash.
Training: Ralph Orlando asked for assistance for the next set of classes. Mark Berber will hold a
conformation class at 8pm with the next set of classes. He also gave an update on some military dogs
and how donated money was spent.
Trial: Linda Stites gave a report on the C Match to be held before our Obedience Trial in July. They
will add Rally to the C match this year.
Dancing Dog Show: The dancing dog show is May 1. Linda Stites asked everyone to spread the
word about the show. Joan Costello will send out an e-mail to all club members about the show.
Pat Mozden announced the Southeast Volusia Humane Society has an event at Sam's club on April
20. They also have their Pet Festival in May. Information will be in the newsletter.
Old Business:
Chris Franczek announced the Property Workshop tentatively scheduled for April 17 at the Charter
Oaks clubhouse. Further information will follow. Janet Narushka will get a copy of the lease and
possible get a real estate attorney to look at it. It was also brought up the the Deland training facility
may be closing and this would give us an opportunity for more students to use a facility.

6 weeks ago Smoke passed his TD and we
have a signed glove as our only proof.
No other papers.
I contacted the judge to let her know. She
forwarded her records to the AKC and they
should fix the mistake. There was a goof up
some where in the reporting.
Only 1 leg in this event but with the normal 3
legs needed in most other events how many
are lost?
