Sommerschule "Turkey in Europe: Meeting of Cultures" in Istanbul, 31.08.–13.09.2009
Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,
das Europa-Institut an der Marmara Universität veranstaltet in Kooperation mit dem Jean
Monnet-Lehrstuhl für Europarecht an der Universität Bremen, im Rahmen des EUgeförderten Projektes "Bridges of Understanding: Intercultural Europe and Turkey's
Contribution" die Sommerschule "Turkey in Europe: Meeting of Cultures".
Die Sommerschule findet vom 31.08.-13.09.2009 in Istanbul statt. Berwerben können sich
Studierende deutscher und türkischer Universitäten (3. und 4. Studienjahr/ Master). Die
Sommerschule ist gebührenfrei. Die Reise-, Unterkunfts- und Verpflegungskosten werden aus
Projektmitteln erstattet.

Summer School: Turkey in Europe: Meeting of Cultures

Marmara University EU Institute and various locations in and around Istanbul
------------Who Can Apply?
- Open to university students (3-4th grade or Masters level) from Turkish and German
universities.
- Good command of English is required.
-------------Activities
- Lectures on various aspects of contemporary Turkey and Turkey-EU relations as well as
intercultural dialogue, perceptions of other cultures, and the future of Europe,
- Training methods such as role-play, team work, brainstorming,
- Meetings with public figures like politicians, journalists, writers, business people, actors or
pop-stars,
- Cultural excursions in and around Istanbul.
--------------Participation Fee
The project is funded by the EU. Summer school activities, travel tickets and accommodation
of the participating students will be provided free of charge.
--------------Application
1) The applicants should fill out the application form on the website:
www.intercultural-europe.net
2) The applicants are expected to write a short essay in the application form.
-------------Deadline
The applications should be sent no later than Monday, 3 August 2009. The results of
applications will be announced on Wednesday, 5 August 2009.
The "Turkey in Europe: Meeting of Cultures" Summer School is a part of the project "The
Bridges of Understanding: Intercultural Europe and Turkey's Contribution" which is
implemented by the EU Institute of Marmara University in coordination with Secretariat
General for EU Affairs. This project is funded by the EU. The Contracting Authority of this
project is Central Finance and Contracts Unit.
