FRUITS AND VEGETABLES SECTOR
IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA
Production growth to satisfy your orders. Production of fruits and vegetables is one of the most
important sectors in agriculture in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the last couple of years, this sector
has recorded a large increase in production, especially in the subsector of berry fruits. The increase
in production of fruits and vegetables during the last couple of years is a direct result of significant
investments across the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Competitive prices for competitive products. Total production of fruits and vegetables in 2012
amounted to 150 million KM, out of which 40% was placed in the international markets. From premium
quality fruits (plums, apples, pears, grapes, raspberries, strawberries, cherries and forest fruits) and
vegetables (potatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers), the TOP INTERNATIONAL
PICKS are fresh plums, frozen and fresh raspberries, forest fruits, cherries, gherkins, tomatoes and
potatoes!
Standardized quality to satisfy your buyers. Most of the producers follow the latest trends, as
well as technologies used today in this type of production and obtained standards which are required
from the EU member states consumers, such as GlobalGAP. Furthermore, this sector can boast of
the use of highly sophisticated equipment, especially in the processing of fruits, where individual
companies have the most advanced equipment available today.
Moving forward in line with the new
trends. What is very positive and encouraging
is that during the last 3 years there has been
an introduction of new cultivars and varieties
in primary production across the whole Bosnia
and Herzegovina, such as the primocane
raspberry, chokeberry, American high-bush
blueberry, new strawberry varieties, Kamchatka
berries, cherries, etc. The advantage of new
varieties and fruit species is reflected in the
extension of the season in which the fresh
fruits and vegetables are available, and in
the fact that with the quality storages most
products are available all year around. Bosnia
and Herzegovina can also boast about the
developed production of fruit planting materials,
as well as the vegetable seedlings and
largely meets its own needs for expansion of
production. The sub sector of berry fruits and
tree fruits really stands out here. Some of the
local entities are exporting planting materials to
the regional countries for the first time, which
has not been the case thus far.

varieties of berry fruits, and development of market linkages through participation at trade fairs and

Our products are of superior quality
and are produced using integrated
production technology. We have a
Global Gap certificate and conduct
regular education of our members and
cooperants. We are capable of delivering
fresh fruits and vegetables to the shelves
of the local shopping centers within 1
hour after the harvesting. The offer of
fresh fruits and vegetables is seasonal
in the period of June-October.
Cooperative Agrisan was founded in
2002 in Sanski Most (in the northwest of
Bosnia and Herzegovina) and today buysup fruits and vegetables from over 150
agricultural producers. We are engaged
in the greenhouse production (peppers,
tomatoes,
cucumbers,
cantaloupes),
production of vegetables in the open, and
production of watermelons, cantaloupes
and white pumpkins. The cooperative also
organizes the cooperative production of
cucumbers gherkins and other varieties. The
key markets are retail chains supermarkets
and restaurants in the close region.
In addition to our own and cooperative
production we also have an agricultural
pharmacy through which our members
and cooperants are supplied with
the raw materials cooperants, and
through which we sell raw materials for
agriculture.

AGRODAR, CAZIN
AgroDar is a specialized agricultural
cooperative which has grown out of the
famous company POLJO - SEMENTI Ltd. from
Cazin. Three key products which are offered
for export include raspberries, gherkins and
chestnuts.
The production of raspberry in the
northwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina,
where AgroDar is present, has recorded
an enormous growth during the last couple
of years, and the cooperative is capable of
delivering fresh raspberries to the western
Europe market in a very short period of
time after harvesting. The same applies to
gherkins, which are successfully exported
to the satisfied customers in Germany.
Our cooperants work according to defined
standards, the production is completely
controlled, and quality is superb.
Apart from cooperative harvesting of
raspberries and gherkins, AgroDar also deals
with purchase and export of sweet chestnuts
(Castanea Sativa). Thanks to its excellent
quality, we sell the chestnuts to the European
Union market.

The main services of the company include production and sale of fruits. Agroimpex
plantations spread over 700 hectares, out of which 350 hectares include various
types of fruits (apples, pears, cherries, plums, peaches). The dominant types are
apple and pear. These plantations date back to 1959, when company „Plantaze“
was founded within the municipality of Gradiska. The company also owns a nursery,
modern cooling capacities (ULO cooling storage with a capacity of 6,000 tons), as
well as a modern machine for classification, sorting and calibration of fruits.
Young seedlings have hail nets as well as a drop by drop irrigation system.
Agroimpex is one of the leading companies across Bosnia and Herzegovina when
it comes to the production of apples and pears. The products are distributed to
the EU market (primary Scandinavia) and the region, as well as to the domestic
market. Products are packaged in a wide range of packaging materials in line with
the customers’ requirements, while the quality is confirmed with the GlobalGAP

Specialized agricultural cooperative Agromerkantilija has in a short
period of time grown into one of the largest producers and exporters
of cucumbers and berry fruits from Bosnia and Herzegovina, and has
achieved outstanding results in the field of cooperative production of
cucumbers, raspberries, strawberries and other varieties. Apart from
production and purchasing as its primary services, the cooperative
pays a great attention to the education of farmers, and continuous
adoption and application of new technologies in the agricultural

APIMED, SANSKI MOST
Apifrucht is a new brand of the company Apimed, under which squeezed fruit
juices of high quality are produced. Our offer includes apple, pear, quince and
strawberry juices.
Apifrucht juices are developed through the technology of grinding and squeezing of
fruits, by which natural fruit juices with 100% fruit content are obtained without the
addition of water, sugar, preservatives or any other additives. The juice is packaged
in a glass packaging of 1 L and 0, 25 L. By pasteurization (heating to 80 degrees
Celsius) the duration of the juice is extended to up to 2 years. The juice has a
sediment, is rich in pectin and made from fruits that are not chemically treated, and
is a 100% organic or bio product.

Company Bašo Ltd. was founded in 1997 and its core business
is production of cucumbers gherkins on a surface of 65
hectares, as well as production of raspberries and blueberries,
while the company is also engaged in the purchasing of wild
chestnut berries and wild forest mushrooms. We produce
our products in cooperation with our cooperants, to which
we provide the most modern technological methods in the
cultivation of specific crops.
Most of our products are sold in the markets of European Union
countries. In terms of the volume and quantity of exported
goods we are considered one of the biggest exporters of
mentioned products in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

BIOS, VISOKO
Cooperative BIOS from Visoko is engaged in the production and installation of greenhouses,
production of seedlings, production and purchasing of fruits and vegetables and purchasing of raw
materials for agricultural production. Apart from this, we offer consulting services in the segment of
agricultural production.
The cooperative has 380 members, and currently 12 full time employees, along with 40 seasonal
workers. In the last couple of years BIOS has recorded excellent results and has entered the
international market. It already has installed greenhouses in Montenegro, Kosovo and Turkey. In
Bosnia and Herzegovina, BIOS has installed greenhouses in over 60 municipalities. It is currently in
the process of receiving am international certificate in the segment of quality of production.
Apart from greenhouses, BIOS also exports fresh vegetables (potatoes, carrots, tomatoes, beets,
parsley) and fruits (plums, pears, apples).

Agricultural cooperative „Brka“ was founded
in 2002, based on the rich tradition of
cooperatives in this region, which dates
back to 1946. The cooperative is present
in 11 municipalities in the northeastern part
of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and one of its
main activities includes the production of
fresh fruits and vegetables. The strength of
this cooperative lies in its 1,300 hardworking
cooperants.
The cooperative has also registered a

its field of actions to the neighboring
municipalities, mainly in the eastern part

The company Dars Voce Ltd. was founded in 2008 as a family company
with 35 hectares of land. We engage in the production of apples in line with
the highest standards, crops protected with hail nets, drop by drop irrigation
system, weather station and all auxiliary mechanization needed to meet the
EU standards.
Our cooling chambers enable us to offer first class apples during the entire
winter season. Apart from own production, we also buy-up apples and pears
from the cooperants. We offer varieties of apple including Idared, Golden
Delicious, Granny Smith, Gala, Braeburn, Fuji, Red Chief and Jonagold, as
well as varieties of pear such as Williams and Santa Maria.

ECO-LINE Ltd. Mostar was founded in 2008. It deals with the
setup of organic production of fruits and vegetables at the land
plots of its members across the entire Herzegovina region.
The company possesses lines for packaging of fruits and
vegetables, cooling storages, and delivery vehicles. A line for
production of natural syrups such as syrups from wild rosehip,
sage and elderberry was also launched. Special attention
is contributed to the protection and promotion of traditional
Herzegovina products, such as dried figs, fig jam, fig sweets
and cherry sweets.
Organic fruits and vegetables are certified by the certification
agency BEHABIOCERT, a company which also possesses
a HACCP certificate. The implementation of GlobalGAP
standard for fruits and vegetables is currently underway, while
the implementation of ISO standard is planned by the end of
2014.

pasteurization, which secures all high value minerals and vitamins in the juice. Main goal of our 100%
natural juices is for you to feel the health and nature in just one glass. The fact that our company is
third year in a row the supplier for the Clinical Center University of Sarajevo (CCUS) is a confirmation
of our healthy and quality product. Our products are also sold in most of the pharmacies across the
Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Company Export – Import Bojin Ltd. is a family company founded in 1998 with a goal of organizing

Agricultural Cooperative “Gračanka” was founded in 1954, and among other things the
cooperative engages in the production of fruits and vegetables. Key varieties of vegetables
are gherkins, carrots, beets, cabbage, tomatoes, peppers and onions, while key varieties
of fruits are plums, sour cherries, pears and apples.
Agricultural Cooperative “Gračanka” produces and places over 1,500 tons of fruits
and vegetables annually. Production of fruits and vegetables is based on the new,
quality varieties, while the cooperative continuously organizes professional lectures and
seminars for its producers. Gračanka has 20 employees, out of which 6 are agricultural
engineers and 9 are agricultural technicians. The cooperative has 203 members and 600
cooperants in the production of fruits and vegetables.
The quality of products is ensured through the GlobalGAP, ISO and HACCP standards.

HEPOK, MOSTAR
Company Hepok-Mostar operates as a conglomerate which in its composition contains a factory for
processing of fruits, production of juices, syrups, jams, pickled products, factory for processing of
grapes and wine, distillery and agricultural production. The company is focused on the highest quality
of its products, for which it possesses the relevant certificates (HACCP, Halal and ISO 9001:2008).
The production of fruits juices and nectars Sole Mio today represents the largest part of production,
while besides the juices Hepok also produces five different flavors of marmalades and two flavors
of jams. All products are derived primarily from domestic fruits and are processed using the most
modern technology. Puree and concentrates are produced from the fresh fruits and later used in the
production of natural juices and marmalades.
Hepok Mostar is a proud owner of the vineyard where during the previous period 550 hectares of
land were cultivated. Assortment of the vineyard consists of indigenous varieties Blatina and Žilavka,
as well as additional varieties: Kabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Rizling, Smederevka, unavoidable

Agricultural Cooperative Insieme from Bratunac
engages in the production, purchase and
processing of berry fruits. The key products
include jams and juices from blueberry, raspberry,
blackberry and forest fruits, while the company’s
assortment also includes organic and sugar-free
products. More than 500 family members from
around Bratunac and Srebrenica are involved in
the cooperative.
Currently all of the produced juices and jams are
exported to the Italian market, while the frozen
berry fruits are exported to Germany, Netherlands,

Company Jaffa- Komerc Ltd. was founded in 1990 and specializes in the production of early fruits
and vegetables. The company is located in Herzegovina, close to Mostar which has a Mediterranean

Company Krušik Ltd. engages in the production and
processing of fruits near Modrica, in the northern part of Bosnia
and Herzegovina. Modern and traditional varieties of pears,
plums and apples are produced, while besides the drier and
modern ULO cooling storage, the company also possesses a
distillery which enables it to offer dried fruits, apple chips, and
fruit distillates and brandy.
The orchards were developed in line with the highest
standards, drop by drop irrigation system and drainage were
implemented, and the entire area is covered with hail nets.

Kuća prirode Ltd. engages in the production of fruits juices, which it sells under two brands: Car
prirode (distribution through the pharmacies) and AS (distribution through supermarkets). Car prirode
and AS are fruit juices of specially selected types and varieties of fruits from domestic orchards. They
are produced through squeezing of a healthy, mature fruits without the addition of concentrates,
preservatives, sugar, saccharin and water, after which pasteurization is conducted in order to preserve
all of the nutrients and medicinal features.
Special recipes and our selection of the varieties of fruits give a unique and unforgettable flavor to our
juices, and awaken a desire to drink another glass. The juices have beneficial healing features and are
recommended for children and pregnant women, as well as for all people who care about their health.
Our assortment of products includes over 20 types of juices which can be found throughout the
entire Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Company “Linija voća Ltd.” was founded in 2001 and is located
in Brčko in the northeastern part of Bosnia. The company is
oriented towards plantation cultivation of fruits (apples, pears,
plums, sour cherries), and also engages in crop production and

MAMEX, BIJELJINA
Mamex Ltd. Bijeljina is a company which is unique in Bosnia and Herzegovina in terms
of its applied technology and methods for production of vegetables in protected areas.
The company has 3 hectares of greenhouse space for production of vegetables all year
around, out of which 1 hectare has a modern heating system. The company produces
seedlings in a smaller area with underground heating for its own needs (capacity of
350,000 plants).
Mamex Ltd. has produced fresh vegetables in its production facilities for a number of
years, namely cucumbers, peppers and tomatoes during the summer period, and lettuce
during the fall and winter in the greenhouses. All production is intended for the well-known
supermarket chain in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to production, Mamex also
engages in buying, packaging and distribution of fresh vegetables to the neighboring
countries, as well as to the European Union countries. Company has a cooling storage
with 1,000 tons in capacity for these purposes, as well as complete equipment for the
preservation and storage of fruits and vegetables.

MREŽA ŽENA, GRADAČAC
The Women’s Association “Big Heart Women’s Network in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is a nongovernmental organization from Gradačac which operates since 2006. The work of the association
is aimed towards economic strengthening of women, within which production and processing of
organic products from fruits and vegetables was initiated.
We offer all kinds of plum sweets and jams, with and without sugar and spices (vanilla, cinnamon,
etc.), apple and pear jams (made from preserved fruits) without sugar additives and preservatives.
Apart from this we also process other types of fruits such as: cherries, wild cherries, apricots and
peaches, as well as all forest and self-grown plants. Rose petals preserve is the highlight of this
assortment. Besides placement of products to the domestic market, we are also proud of our export
to Australia and Germany.
We have an organic certificate (BeHaBIOCert) for the apple jam and pumpkin sweets. The advantage
of our products compared to others is the controlled production without the use of chemical materials.
Our products are intended for hospitals, kindergartens, schools and hotels, as we for all fans of
healthy food.

PLANT, TUZLA
Company Plant was founded in 2006 in Tuzla
in the northeastern Bosnia and Herzegovina. It
engages in the production of planting materials
for fruits and vegetables, production of fresh
vegetables and crop production. It is the only
company in Bosnia and Herzegovina which
produces planting materials for strawberries
such as FRIGO, Tray plant and Waiting bed. Stem
plants are contained in protected structures,
while the complete process of production
of seedlings is conducted in protected
structures (greenhouses). Annual production
amounts to around 1,000,000 seedlings.

business characteristic is top quality of products, which was recently confirmed by

The company Unaplod A.D. engages in the
cultivation, purchase and storage of fresh
apples and pears from 2006. The company
is located in Kozarska Dubica, a small city
at the foot of the mountain Kozara, in the
northwestern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Unaplod has for years now been cooperating
with a large number of apple producers
(over 150 cooperants), from which each
fall it purchases a couple of thousands of
tons of apples and pears. The company
has also in 2008 started with the project
of cultivating its own fruit plantations.

Currently, there is 120 hectares of
intensive apples and pears plantations in
line with the latest standards in the world
of fruit production, which among other
things include a “drop by drop” irrigation
system. The goal of the project is to plant
a total of 300 hectares of apples and
pears in the near future.

with 9.000 tons in capacity. The storage
uses the modern ULO (Ultra Low
Oxygen) technology, which enables

VIP KRAJINA, LAKTAŠI
Agricultural Cooperative VIP Krajina was founded in 2009 in Laktaši. The activities of the
cooperative include production, purchase, packaging and distribution of fresh fruits and
vegetables. The cooperative was formed as a result of a need to provide agricultural
producers a complete service and support in packaging, distribution, marketing and sale of
agricultural products. We cooperate with around 200 cooperants from which we buy fresh
fruits and vegetables and sell them to supermarket chains and wholesalers in Bosnia and
Herzegovina, as well as to the markets in Serbia, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia and Austria.
The implementation of HACCP and ISO 9001/2008 standards is currently underway, and we
have also planned the implementation of GlobalGAP standard for fruits and vegetables. Our
most represented products which are available to customers all year around are: potatoes,
onions, cabbage, apples and pears, while we offer many other types of fruits and vegetables
from our rich domestic assortment of products.

from the 20 municipalities of northeastern
and central Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Thanks to the organized production of
large quantities and significant cooling
capacities, AC Voćar has been selling and

VOĆNI RASADNIK, SREBRENIK
Company “Voćni Rasadnik” engages in the production and sale of fruit seedlings, flowers and
ornamentals in Spionica next to Srebrenik, which is in the northeastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The production began in 1997, while the company has been operating as a separate entity since
1994.
The nursery has around 50 hectares of land and a capacity to produce 500,000 seedlings per year.
It is well equipped with mechanization for land cultivation, protection of plants, system for irrigation as
well as machines and equipment for storage and distribution of planting materials. The company also
has a modern and well-equipped laboratory for the production of seedlings via the in vitro technique,
by which the pathogens are removed from the products of healthy seedlings.
Apart from nursery production, the company offers fresh plums in the market, including Čačak
varieties and Stanley in the amount of approximately 1,500 tons. In 2012 “Voćni rasadnik Ltd” Srebrenik
launched the start of operations of its new business facility composed of modern cooling storage for
purchase, storage and keeping of fresh fruits and vegetables plants with a capacity of approximately
700 tons, out of which two are ULO chambers of 400 tons in capacity.

VRGANJ PROMET, BUŽIM
Company “Vrganj Promet Ltd.” was founded in 1997 in Bužim,
in the far northwest part of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It deals
in the purchase and processing of wild forest and cultivated
berry fruits, forest mushrooms and chestnuts. The company is
one of the leading exporters of fresh raspberries, strawberries,
blackberries and blueberries to the European Union market.
It possesses a GlobalGAP certificate for the fruit plantations.
Fresh raspberry is offered to customers during the period
of five months, while the frozen raspberry is offered all year
around. Packaging of products is accustomed to the needs of
the customers. Apart from the raspberries, we can package
and sell the other types of fruits from our assortment in
accordance to the buyers’ needs.
