Seventeenth-Century France”; the project is organized as a German-French “cotutelle” (joint
bi-national supervision) at the University of Freiburg and the Ecole des hautes etudes en
sciences socials (E.H.E.S.S.) in Paris. My supervisors are professors Ronald G. Asch
(Freiburg) and Jean Boutier (E.H.E.S.S.); the thesis will be submitted in French, but I write a
German manuscript alongside it and I ultimately plan to publish the text in both languages.
