Planmöbel | How the brand emerged
Der Grundstein für unsere Entwicklung zum Hersteller moderner Büroeinrichtungssysteme heutiger Prägung wurde 1958 im Rahmen
einer weitreichenden, unternehmerischen Vision gelegt. Als der in London lebende deutsche Designer Robert Gutmann damit begann,
Büromöbel ganz anders als zu dieser Zeit üblich zu konzipieren, gab er seinen Entwürfen den Arbeitstitel „Planmöbel“. Um sie am Markt
ganz eigenständig einzuführen, wurde „Planmöbel“ 1958 zum offiziellen Firmennamen. Der Name Planmöbel wurde zur Marke. Seit
diesem Zeitpunkt präsentieren wir uns mit deutlich strukturierten Produktlinien. Eigene und unkonventionelle Wege gehen, Querdenken,
Innovationen entwickeln und dem Markt immer ein Stück voraus sein – diese Tugenden hat sich Planmöbel bis heute mit Erfolg bewahrt.

The foundations stone for our becoming a manufacturer of today’s state-of-the-art office furnishing systems was laid in 1958 as part of a
far-reaching entrepreneurial vision. When the German designer Robert Gutmann, who at the time was living in London, began conceiving
office furniture that was totally different from what was usual back then, he gave his designs the German working title “Planmöbel”.
In 1958, in order to be able to bring them to market totally independently, “Planmöbel” became the official company name and the name
became a brand. We have been presenting clearly structured product lines ever since. Going our own, unconventional way, thinking differently, producing innovations and always being slightly ahead of the market – these are virtues to which Planmöbel has remained faithful
until today, and with success.

Traditionell wird unsere Produktentwicklung von externen Designern begleitet, die gezielt für die jeweilige Aufgabenstellung ausgesucht werden. Das Ziel ist dabei, Produktlösungen
von dauerhaftem Wert zu erhalten. Das Design der Planmöbel Produkte ist durch ein hohes Maß an formaler Eigenständigkeit geprägt, ohne selbstgefällig zu sein. So hat sich die
Gestaltung der Produkte primär an der Funktion zu orientieren. Ein überzeugend gestaltetes Produkt erklärt sich selbst und verzichtet deshalb auf komplizierte Konfigurationen und
ornamentale Elemente.
Gute Dinge sind einfach. Ganz einfach.
Traditionally, external designers selected specifically for the assignment at hand accompany our product development. The aim in this is to create product solutions of long-lasting
value. The design of Planmöbel products is characterized by a high level of formal independence, without being self-satisfied and is geared primarily to their function. A product
with a convincing design is self-explanatory and as such foregoes complicated configuration and ornamental elements.
Good things are simple. It’s quite simple.

Planmöbel | Sustainability as a principle
Ökologie ist ein Thema, das alle Aktivitäten unseres Unternehmens beeinflusst. Langlebige Produkte von hoher Qualität und zeitlosem
Design sind bei Planmöbel der wichtigste Beitrag für die Umwelt. Minimalistische Gestaltung und reduzierter Materialeinsatz, schlanke
und grazile Tische mit allen notwendigen statischen Argumenten, Zubehör und Teile, die gar nicht erst aufwendig hergestellt werden
müssen, gehören zu einer ökologischen Produktentwicklung.
Das Prinzip der Nachhaltigkeit spiegelt sich auch in dem schonenden Umgang mit Ressourcen. So trägt beispielsweise die Verbrennung
der Holzabfälle, die bei der Produktion unserer Möbel entstehen, wesentlich zur Energieerzeugung bei. Weil dieser Energiegewinn
hauptsächlich zur Wärmeproduktion genutzt wird, können wir damit die Heizung fast aller Produktionsstätten und Verwaltungsgebäude
sicherstellen. Auf kritische Stoffe wird bei der Produktion komplett verzichtet und auch bei der Zulieferindustrie greifen wir nur auf
solche Partner zurück, die unseren ökologischen Anforderungen gerecht werden.

Ecology is a topic that has an influence on all our company’s activities. At Planmöbel products built to last that boast superb quality and
timeless design are the most important contribution to the environment. Minimalist design, the reduced use of materials, slender, delicate
tables with all the requisite structural arguments, accessories and parts that need no intricate manufacturing process, are all part and parcel
of ecological product development.
The principle of sustainability is also reflected in the careful treatment of resources. By way of example, burning the waste from the wood
used in the production of our furniture plays a major role in energy generation. As the energy produced in this way is used primarily for
the production of heat we are able to ensure the heating at almost all our production sites and the administrative building. In the production we make no use whatever of critical fabrics and in the supply industry we work only with partners that adhere to our ecological
requirements.

Ein Statement auf vier Beinen
In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Designbüro Artefakt entstanden, besticht part-3 durch sein
selbstsicheres Auftreten. Innovative Details und präzise Verarbeitung ziehen sich als roter
Faden durch das gesamte Produktprogramm, dessen Komponenten frei miteinander
kombinierbar sind. Mit unterschiedlichen Tischplatten, Boxen und Gestellen entsteht in
jedem Büro eine repräsentative Aura. Auffälligstes Merkmal von part-3 sind die auskragenden Einzelbeine aus Aluminium-Druckguss. Der präzise gearbeitete Beinflansch trägt die
Tischplatte und dient gleichzeitig als Basis für die Adaption der Zusatzausstattung. Ein
Spannstab unter der Tischplatte ersetzt die sonst notwendigen Traversenkonstruktionen.
A statement on four legs
Designed in collaboration with the design studio Artefakt, part-3 stands out for its selfassured appearance. Innovative details and precise craftsmanship run like a red thread
through the entire product range, the components in which can all readily be combined
with one another. With different tabletops, boxes, and frames, a befitting aura emerges in
any office. The most striking features of part-3 are the protruding die-cast aluminium single
legs. The precisely crafted leg flange supports the tabletop while at the same time serving
as the basis for housing the additional fittings. A tie rod beneath the tabletop replaces the
crossbar construction that would otherwise be needed.

Wünschen, beweist aber trotzdem durch sein klares Design einen eigenen Charakter. Die

Reduced to an optimum
There is no reason whatever for today’s workstation to be so yesterday tomorrow. If its
concept is right, its flexibility will allow it to adapt to new work situations time and again.
fact 4, designed by Artefakt, is geared entirely to individual wishes, while through its clear
design nonetheless revealing a character all of its own. The various segments, the table,
container, partition and “Tec-Mobil” movable technology unit can be used in combination
with and independently of each other.

Massive Leichtigkeit
Klarheit in der Gestaltung, Reduktion auf das Wesentliche und klassische Eleganz –
verbunden mit höchster Fertigungsqualität: Die Grundidee des Designers Reiner Moll für
impuls war die freitragende Tischbrücke, auf der unterschiedlich geformte Arbeitsplatten
schwebend montiert werden können. Die flügelartigen, konvex geformten Tragprofile in
Verbindung mit einer nahezu schwebend erscheinenden Tischplatte verleihen impuls einen
eigenständigen und repräsentativen Charakter.
Solid lightness
Clarity in the design, reduction to the essentials and classic elegance – combined with
superb craftsmanship: The designer Reiner Moll’s basic idea for impuls was the self-supporting long table, on which different-shaped worktops can be fixed. The wing-like, convex
supporting profiles in conjunction with a tabletop that appears to be almost hovering give
impuls a befitting character all of its own.

Formally rather reserved, corpus-c fits unobtrusively into any office situation. With its many
different widths, heights and closing options, this range features impressive inner values
and a wealth of different versions. And depending on the choice of surface corpus-c can
play any role you wish to assign it – from a quiet observer on the sidelines to the absolute
centre of attention. The compact structure of its body, uniform material thicknesses and a
fit-to-purpose connecting element with standard industrial connectors lend this cupboard a
straightforward, formally reserved look.

Klare Form – pure Funktion
Mit ihrer stringenten und funktionalen Konzeption steht die Architektur der Hauptverwaltung von Ravago Plastics in Arendonk als gebauter Ausdruck der Unternehmenskultur.
Das Firmengebäude besticht durch seine konsequente Reduktion auf das Wesentliche.
Elemente, die lediglich der Repräsentation dienen, sucht man vergebens. Ebenso waren bei
der Auswahl der Möblierung Funktionalität und eine klare Formensprache die entscheidenden Kriterien. Alle 150 Arbeitsplätze und die Cafeteria wurden durchgängig mit 180 x 90 cm
messenden Tischen aus dem Planmöbel m-pur Programm ausgestattet. Als Stauraum- und
Raumgliederungselemente dienen corpus-c Schränke in unterschiedlichen Höhen.
Clear shape – pure function
With the stringent, functional concept the architecture of the Ravago Plastics HQ in Arendonk stands for the built expression of its corporate culture. The company building stands
out for its consistent reduction to the bare essentials. You will search in vain for elements
that serve representative purposes. Functionality and a clear formal language were likewise
the decisive criteria in the choice of the furnishings. All 150 workstations and the cafeteria
were fitted with 180 x 90 cm tables from the Planmöbel m-pur range. corpus-c cabinets in
various heights serve as storage room and space-structuring elements.

Repräsentanz mexikanischer Kultur
Mit seiner beeindruckenden Fassade, die an einen sich öffnenden Theatervorhang erinnert,
setzt das Gebäude der Mexikanischen Botschaft einen eindrucksvollen Akzent im Berliner
Tiergartenviertel. Da die Botschaft auch Kulturinstitut ist, galt es für die Architekten, ein
Gebäude zu entwerfen, das gleichermaßen das Traditionsbewusstsein und die Zukunftsausrichtung Mexikos symbolisiert.
Bei der Möblierung hat man sich durchgängig für das Produkt fact 4 entschieden, weil es
sich durch das unprätentiöse Erscheinungsbild in das Arbeitsumfeld integriert, ohne mit
der Architektur in Konkurrenz zu treten.
Foreign representation of Mexican culture
With its awe-inspiring façade reminiscent of theatre curtains opening, the Mexican Embassy
adds an impressive touch to Berlin’s Tiergarten district. As the Embassy is also a cultural
institute the architects’ brief was to design a building that symbolizes in equal measure
Mexico’s awareness of tradition and its alignment to the future.
Because its unpretentious appearance enables it to blend in with the work environment
without competing with the architecture, fact 4 was chosen for the furnishings throughout.

Qualität bis ins Detail
Das Domizil der apellasbauwert property group befindet sich in den sogenannten
„3 Leipzigern“ in Berlin-Mitte. Das dreiteilige Gebäudeensemble ist geprägt durch die
klassisch strukturierende Formensprache der Architekten Patzschke & Partner sowie den
modernen Neubau des Büros Grüntuch Ernst Architekten, in dessen 4. und 5. Obergeschoss sich die Bürofläche von apellasbauwert befindet. Bei der Einrichtung setzte
Innenarchitektin Friederike Zauleck auf die bewährt gute Qualität der Planmöbel m-pur
Schreibtische und corpus-c Schränke, die mit speziellen Akustikfronten und Stoffrückwänden ausgestattet sind.
Quality down to the detail
The domicile of the apellasbauwert property group is located in the so-called „3 Leipzigern“
in the Mitte district of Berlin. The three-part building ensemble is dominated by the classicist, traditional formal vocabulary used by architects Patzschke & Partner as well as the
modern new building by Grüntuch Ernst Architekten, on the 4th and 5th storeys of which
the apellasbauwert offices are located. In terms of the fittings, interior designer Friederike
Zauleck placed her faith in the tried-and-tested sound quality of Planmöbel m-pur desks
and corpus-c cabinets, which are fitted with special acoustic fronts and material backs.

Transparente Bürolandschaft
Bei dem Umbau von rund 9000 Quadratmeter Nutzfläche ist ein transparent wirkender
Baukörper mit einer neuen, vorgesetzten Glasfassade entstanden. Der fünfgeschossige
Bau bietet lichtdurchflutete, hochwertig und individuell ausgestattete Büros. Transparenz
bestimmt auch den Gesamtcharakter der Innenräume. Großflächig verglaste Trennwände,
teilweise auch farbig, verleihen den Räumen Weite und Durchsicht. Die Möblierung mit
Planmöbel verstärkt den transparenten Charakter der Bürolandschaft. Zum Einsatz kommt
eine m-pur Produktlösung mit individuell wählbaren Tischplattengrößen und -ausführungen, zum Beispiel mit Oberflächen aus Linoleum und Kanten aus Aluminium.
Transparent office landscape
The conversion of some 9,000 square meters of usable space saw the emergence of a transparent-like edifice with a new glass façade in front. The five-story building provides high-end,
individually fitted offices that are flooded with light. Transparency also determines the
overall character of the interior. Large glass partitions, some of them coloured, give the
rooms space and an open view. Planmöbel furnishings heighten the transparent character of
the office landscape. A solution featuring m-pur, with a choice of individually sized tabletop
versions, for example with linoleum surfaces and aluminium edges, was selected.

Rechts und links der Spree, zwischen Kreuzberg und Friedrichshain hat sich in Berlin die
Musikbranche angesiedelt. Hier finden sich nicht nur Szeneclubs, sondern auch bedeutende
Größen der Musikindustrie, zum Beispiel der Musiksender MTV, der sein Domizil in einer
denkmalgeschützten Speicherhalle bezogen und mittlerweile auch den zweiten Bauabschnitt fertiggestellt hat. Für die Ausstattung des MTV Lofts wünschten sich die Planer ein
Möbelsystem, das bei aller Funktionalität auch den Esprit des Unternehmens transportiert.
Qualitativ hochwertig, dynamisch, frisch und unkompliziert – so stellte man sich die Marke
vor, die zu MTV passt. Und entschied sich für Planmöbel und die Produktlinie m-pur.
Ambiance for a young clientele
In Berlin the music scene has settled to the right and left of the River Spree, between the
districts of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain. This is home not only to trendy clubs but also to
important players in the music industry, for example MTV, which has set up shop in a listed
warehouse and has now completed the second building phase. For furnishing the MTV loft
the planners were looking for a furniture system that for all its functionality also conveyed
the company’s esprit. High-end quality, dynamic, young and uncomplicated – this was how
they saw the brand that would fit in with MTV. And they decided on Planmöbel and its
m-pur product line.

Aus einem Guss
Als sichtbares Zeichen des Wachstums der Inometa Technologie Gruppe in Herford wurde
das neue 2000 Quadratmeter große Verwaltungsgebäude bezogen. Dem vorausgegangen
war bereits die Inbetriebnahme des neuen Logistik- und Technologiezentrums mit
6000 Quadratmetern. Gebaut auf höchstem Niveau, zeichnet sich der Verwaltungsneubau
mit dem prägnanten dreigeschossigen Torhaus durch seinen hohen Standard im Innenausbau aus. Die rund 100 Arbeitsplätze sind mit m-pur Schreibtischen ausgestattet – in Einer-,
Zweier- oder auch Dreierkombination aufgestellt, je nach Arbeits- und Raumsituation.
Ebenfalls im ganzen Gebäude durchgängig eingesetzt sind corpus-c Stauraumelemente.
From a single source
The new 2,000 square metre administration building that Inometa Technologie Gruppe in
Herford moved into is a visible symbol of the company’s growth. This was preceded by
the beginning of operations at the new 6,000 square metre logistics and technology centre.
Constructed to the highest quality, the administration building with its striking three-story
entrance stands out for the high standard of its interior. The approximately 100 workstations
are fitted with m-pur desks – in combinations of one, two and three depending on the
work and spatial situation. corpus-c storage elements are also in use throughout the entire
building.

In exponierter Lage, direkt an Berliner Dom und Spree gelegen, hat im SpreePalais am Dom
die Hauptstadtrepräsentanz der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft ihren Sitz. Das Fraunhofer-Forum
Berlin hat sich als Plattform der Kommunikation und Begegnung für Entscheidungsträger
aus Wissenschaft, Industrie, Wirtschaft und Politik etabliert.
Auf 750 m² stehen neben Vorstands- und Mitarbeiter-Büros zwei medientechnisch voll
ausgerüstete Besprechungsräume sowie ein großer Veranstaltungsbereich zur Verfügung.
Der große Variantenreichtum war ausschlaggebend für die Auswahl des m-pur Programms,
das sowohl in den Konferenzbereichen als auch bei den Arbeitsplätzen eingesetzt ist.
Flexible variety
The Berlin representative offices of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft are in the SpreePalais at the
Berlin Cathedral, in a prominent location directly next to the Berlin Cathedral and the River
Spree. The Fraunhofer-Forum Berlin has established itself a communications and meeting
platform for decision makers in science, industry, business, and politics.
Spread over 750 square meters, in addition to executive and employees’ offices there are
two meeting rooms boasting state-of-the-art media equipment, as well as a large event area.
The enormous variety proved decisive in the selection of the m-pur line, which is in use in
the conference areas as well as at workstations.
