The BENELUX Classification
In allen Benelux-Ländern gibt es ein einheitliches System, nach
dem, je nach Qualität, bis zu 5 Sterne vergeben werden (5
Sterne=maximum, 1 Stern=minimum). Die Teilnahme an diesem
System ist freiwillig, und es gibt durchaus Campingplätze mit hohem Standard, die nicht erfasst sind. Die Aufteilung ist wie folgt:

Luxembourg has a wide range of campsites, more than half of
which are classified according to the Benelux system. Standard of
accommodation is indicated by a row of three-pointed stars from
the highest (five stars) to the minimum (one star). However, membership in this scheme is voluntary and there may be high standard
campsites which do not have a classification. Benelux star ratings
comply with the following criteria:

THe ardenneS and their Natural Parks
Die Ardennen im Norden von Luxemburg sind durchzogen von malerischen Tälern und Hochplateaus mit Panoramablick. In dieser einzigartigen und zum großen Teil unberührten Natur befinden sich zahlreiche
Wege zum Wandern und Radfahren. Diese führen von einem malerischen Dorf ins nächste und ermöglichen Besuchern eine Entdeckungsreise der besonderen Art. Die Luxemburger Ardennen, auch Ösling oder
Éisleck genannt, sind die Wiege einer mittelalterlichen Kultur, deren
Spuren auch heute noch sichtbar sind. Die auf der Weltliste der Unesco
eingetragene Ausstellung “Family of Man” öffnet nach umfangreichen
Renovierungsarbeiten 2013.
Burgen und Schlösser in den Ardennen
In den Ardennen befinden sich mehrere sehr gut erhaltene oder originalgetreu restaurierte Burgruinen. Die imposanten Schlösser von Vianden,
Bourscheid oder Esch-Sauer sind Zeitzeugen der mittelalterlichen Geschichte.
Auf den Mittelalter-Festen wird diese faszinierende Epoche der Lehnsherren
und Ritter alljährlich wieder zum Leben erweckt. Konzerte unter freiem
Himmel vervollständigen den reichhaltigen kulturellen Veranstaltungskalender der Luxemburger Ardennen.
Naturparks in den Ardennen
Im Norden von Luxemburg befinden sich die beiden großen Naturparks
des Landes: der Naturpark Our und der Naturpark Obersauer. In diesen
Naturparks der Ardennen findet man nicht nur eine einzigartige geschützte Natur, sondern auch viele regionale Spezialitäten. Die Produkte
“Vum Séi” (Kräuter, Öle, Tees, Getreide, usw.) sowie die urigen Brauereien
“Ourdaller Brauerei” und “Den Heischter” lohnen einen Besuch. Wie
wäre es mit einem Picknick in den Wäldern des Öslings? Dabei lassen
sich Spezialitäten hervorragend in geselliger Runde kosten.
Aktivurlaub und Sport
Naturliebhaber kommen im Ösling auf ihre Kosten. Eine Wanderung entlang der Sauer, der Wark oder der Alzette gibt den Blick auf herrliche, von
Felsen durchzogene Landschaften frei. Hier gleicht keine Aussicht der anderen. Die ausgeschilderten Wanderwege der Luxemburger Ardennen gehören zu den schönsten des Landes. Wer es sportlicher mag, kann das Ösling in
den Nordic-Walking-Parks oder auf den Mountainbike-Strecken erkunden.

Castles in the Ardennes
One will find perfectly preserved or carefully restored ruins and fortifications that narrate the medieval history of the Luxembourg Ardennes.
The imposing castles of Vianden, Bourscheid or Esch-sur-Sûre are living
witnesses of the medieval past of the country. Moreover, every year, traditional markets and medieval festivals are reviving this fascinating time
of lords and knights. Finally, performances and outdoor concerts attest
to the cultural richness of the Bulge.
Natural Parks of the Ardennes
It is also in the North of Luxembourg that is found the two largest nature
reserves in the country: the Naturpark Our and the Naturpark Öewersauer.
In addition to their function of protecting natural resources, the Ardennes
parks are host to some of the most delicious local produce in the Grand
Duchy. Such delicacies include products like herbs, oils, teas and cereals “Vum
Séi” or the microbreweries “Brasserie Ourdaller” and “Den Heischter.” Perfect as a little gift basket or for a picnic in the surrounding forests.
Active holidays and sports
Nature lovers will find ample sources to quench their thirst for wilderness in
the Luxembourg Ardennes. Hike along the length of the Sûre, the Wark or
the Alzette, where rock formations and sculpted landscapes are never the
same. The marked trails through the Ardennes are also among the most
beautiful in the country. For sportier of mind, parks dedicated to Nordic
Walking or mountain biking through the Ardennes allow for a faster pace.

Das Mullerthal – oder Mëllerdall auf Luxemburgisch - wird im Volksmund
die Kleine Luxemburger Schweiz genannt. Diesen Namen verdankt die
Region ihrer hügeligen Landschaft, die an die Schweiz erinnert. Das
Mullerthal ist in erster Linie ein einzigartiges mit Felsen durchsetztes
Biotop. Die Landschaft aus Sandsteinfelsen verdankt ihr eigentümliches
Aussehen der über Jahrtausende wirkenden Erosion. Heute ist die Kleine
Luxemburger Schweiz ein Anziehungspunkt für Touristen aus nah und fern.
Echternach – Die älteste Stadt in Luxemburg
Echternach ist die Hauptstadt des Mullerthals und gleichzeitig die älteste
Stadt in Luxemburg. Im Jahr 2010 nahm die UNESCO die Echternacher
Springprozession in die Liste der Meisterwerke des mündlichen und
immateriellen Erbes der Menschheit auf. Zu den touristischen Highlights der Stadt gehören die Römische Villa Echternach, die Sankt Willibrord Basilika und das Kulturzentrum Trifolion.
Wanderungen und Mullerthal Trail
Der Mullerthal Trail führt den geübten Wanderer über 110 Kilometer
durch eine herrliche Hügel- und Felslandschaft. Die markantesten Felsen
haben im Volksmund bizarre Namen erhalten, wie z.B. Piteschkummer,
Geyerslay oder Hohllay, um nur einige zu nennen. Die Wanderwege
im Mullerthal führen durch eine intakte Natur, geprägt von Wiesen
und Wäldern. Neben den anspruchsvollen Wanderungen verfügt das
Mullerthal ebenfalls über ein ausgedehntes Netz an erholsamen Spazierwegen, die nicht minder schöne Aussichten bieten.
Das Mullerthal – eine kulinarische Entdeckungsreise
Das Müllerthal überrascht ebenfalls durch seine reichhaltige Küche.
Regionale Spezialitäten wie Käse, Honig oder Liköre werden auf den
zahlreichen Märkten der Region angeboten. In Echternach und Umgebung findet man auf den Speisekarten der Top-Restaurants raffinierte
Gerichte. Genießen Sie die vorzügliche Küche, am besten mit Blick auf
das einmalige Tal der unteren Sauer.
Often referred to as the Little Switzerland of Luxembourg, Mullerthal - or
Mëllerdall in Luxembourgish – owes its name to its hilly landscape reminiscent
of Switzerland. The Mullerthal is above all a unique biotope characterized by rock formations that are as beguiling as they are surprising. It is
the unique composition of the rock and soil erosion that have contributed
to the creation of this landscape so typical of Little Switzerland.
Echternach – Luxembourg’s oldest city
Capital of the Mullerthal region, Echternach is the oldest town in Luxembourg. In 2010, Echternach acquired an international reputation
by its inscription into the Intangible Heritage of UNESCO’s famous
Dancing Procession. Among the major tourist attractions of the city
include the Roman Villa, The Benedictine Abbey of Saint Willibrod or
the cultural center of Trifolion.
Hiking and the Mullerthal Trail
The Mullerthal Trail takes the experienced hiker through 110 kilometers of
magnificent valley trails. Rock formations dotted with difficult sounding
names - Piteschkummer, Geyerslay or Hohllay, to name only a few - the
footpaths of Mullerthal will lead you through fields and forests into the
heart of a natural setting that is almost intact. Besides the demanding
hiking, the Mullerthal offers a network of pleasant walks amidst plethora
of breathtaking panoramas.
Mullerthal – Culinary discoveries
The Mullerthal also surprises with a rich cuisine based on cheese, honey
and liqueurs. All these local products are available in many small markets
in the region. In Echternach and its surroundings, first class restaurants up
their menus with refined dishes, served in the unique natural environment
of the valley of the Lower Sure.

DIE Mosel
THe MoSelLE
Die Mosel ist der größte Fluss in Luxemburg. Auf einer Strecke von 39
Kilometern bildet sie die natürliche Grenze zwischen Luxemburg und
Deutschland. Die Mosel hat in Luxemburg ein wunderschönes Tal gegraben. Die Region ist insbesondere für seine Weinberge, seine romantischen
Hotels und seine mittelalterlichen Städte weit über die Landesgrenzen
hinaus bekannt. “D’Musel”, wie die Bewohner das Moseltal liebevoll nennen, ist auch Schauplatz traditioneller Veranstaltungen wie der Kavalkade
von Remich oder dem Trauben- und Weinfest in Grevenmacher.
Luxemburger Moselweine
Auf den Hängen des Moseltals gedeihen die Weinreben besonders gut,
weshalb die Region als Weinanbaugebiet ein internationales Renommee
genießt. In der Moselregion werden hauptsächlich weiße Rebsorten angebaut, die zu beliebten Qualitätsweinen gekeltert werden, z.B. Riesling,
Auxerrois oder Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris). Das Hinterland der Mosel dient
dem Anbau von Obst, das zu frischen Säften, Likören und Schnäpsen weiterverarbeitet wird. Erfahren Sie alles Wissenswerte zur Moselregion auf

Wassersport auf der Mosel

Dorf Schengen, eines der wichtigsten Übereinkommen der europäischen Geschichte unterzeichnet. Mit dem Schengen Abkommen besiegelten die 5
Unterzeichnerstaaten die Abschaffung der Personenkontrollen an ihren
gemeinsamen Grenzen. Damit wurde der Schengenraum mit freiem Personenverkehr Wirklichkeit. Das Europäische Museum in Schengen erinnert
an die historische Übereinkunft und die Bedeutung des Schengenraums
für die inzwischen 26 Mitgliedsstaaten.
The Moselle River is the major river of Luxembourg. Its trajectory along
the Luxembourg border runs 39 km in length to form a natural boundary
with Germany. Moselle lends its name to one of the most beautiful valleys of Luxembourg, famous for its wineries, charming hotels and medieval towns. “D’Musel,” as it is affectionately known by its inhabitants, is
also a region of traditions such as the cavalcade of Remich and the grape and
wine festival in Grevenmacher.
Wines of the Moselle valley in Luxembourg
The valley of the Moselle in Luxembourg is famous for its steep hills
and vineyards. It is the birthplace of Luxembourg wines, mostly white
varieties such as Riesling, Auxerrois and Pinot Gris. The hinterland of the
Moselle is home to large plantations of fruit trees for the production
of fresh juices, liqueurs and schnapps. Themed hikes, such as the wine
route are fully dedicated to the discovery of this region.
Water sports on the river
Although renowned as a culinary destination, the Moselle region also
attracts water sports enthusiasts and hikers. Swimming, water skiing or
Nordic Walking are just some of the activities that are practiced on and
around the River Moselle. With the abundance of water, many small cruises are organized on the Moselle the whole year through.
Schengen Accord – a significant milestone in European history
It was in the Luxembourg Moselle region, specifically in the wine village of
Schengen, where the treaty which bears its name was first signed in June
1985. The Schengen Accord is one of the most important agreements in
European history. The treaty provided for the removal of all border controls between 5 European countries together under the name of Schengen
Area. The European Museum in Schengen recalls the origin and impact of
this agreement on the 26 states that are currently members.

the Land of the red rocks
Das Land der Roten Erde, auch “Terres Rouges” genannt, ist eine Region
im Süden von Luxemburg. Sie verdankt ihren Namen dem leuchtend roten
Eisenerz, das den Erfolg der Stahlindustrie in Luxemburg erst möglich
machte. Inzwischen hat ein erfolgreicher Strukturwandel im Land der
Roten Erde stattgefunden. Ihr aktuelles Gesicht spiegelt sowohl die von
Kohle und Stahl geprägte Vergangenheit als auch die neuen Technologien
der Gegenwart wider.
Eisenwerke und Fond-de-Gras
Der Süden Luxemburgs wurde stark geprägt durch die Kohle- und Stahlindustrie. Mittlerweile wurde das Gebiet allerdings den Bedürfnissen der
modernen Gesellschaft angepasst. Heute erinnert der Industrie- und Eisenbahnpark in Fond-de-Gras an diese wichtige Epoche der luxemburgischen
Geschichte.
Universitätscampus und Einkaufsstädte
Die wichtigsten Einkaufsstädte Luxemburgs befinden sich im Land der
Roten Erde, darunter Dudelange, Esch-sur-Alzette und Differdange.
Modern, jung und dynamisch – so lassen sich die Städte im Süden Luxemburgs am besten beschreiben. Straßentheater, Musikfestivals und
Konzertsäle sorgen für ein abwechslungsreiches kulturelles Angebot.
Im Minett, genauer gesagt in Esch-Belval, wird übrigens die zukünftige Universität Luxemburg errichtet. Der Konzertsaal “Rockhal” der
Stadt Esch ist ein Paradebeispiel für das neue und moderne Image
der Terres Rouges.
Terres Rouges – Ein Paradies für Kinder
Neben den zahlreichen Sehenswürdigkeiten des ehemaligen Kohle- und
Stahlgebietes verfügt der Süden von Luxemburg über eine ganze Bandbreite an Freizeitaktivitäten für Kinder. Im “Parc Merveilleux de Bettembourg” können Krokodile, Schlangen, Papageien und Affen bestaunt
werden. In knarzenden Eisenbahnwaggons, die von einer Feuer speienden
Lokomotive gezogen werden, entdecken die Besucher die unterirdischen
Gänge und Stollen ehemaliger Eisenherz Minen in Rumelange.
The Land of the Red Rocks is a region of Luxembourg located in the
south of the country. It owes its name to the red ore that was behind
the success of the steel industry in Luxembourg back in the industrial
era. Today, the former mining area of the Land of the Red Rocks, also
referred to as Terres Rouges, was able to find a new identity combining
ancient and new technologies.
Steel plants and Fond-de-Gras
The Terres Rouges region is primarily characterized by its industrial
culture. The former steelworks were reassigned to serve modern society.
Today it is the industrial park and rail Fond-de-Gras which recalls this
fundamental time in the history of Luxembourg.
University campus and commercial centres
The Land of the Red Rocks encompasses the major commercial cities of
Luxembourg, including Dudelange, Esch-sur-Alzette and Differdange.
Resolutely modern and trendy, these cities form an urban complex with
a young and dynamic atmosphere. Street theater, rock festivals and concert
halls complement cultural offerings. It is also in the Terres Rouges region,
in Esch-Belval precisely, that will be created the future campus of the
University of Luxembourg. The famous concert hall “Rockhal” in the
city of Esch shows how the Land of the Red Rocks managed to give a
complex historical past a new image for a modern and changing Luxembourg.
Red earth - a paradise for children
In addition to the many attractions of the former mining area, the
Terres Rouges region offers a wide range of activities for children.
Crocodiles, snakes, parrots and monkeys are waiting at the Parc
Merveilleux of Bettembourg. Hauled by creaking locomotive wagons
spitting fire, kids and parents alike discover the underground galleries
of the old iron mines of Rumelange.

klassierten Wohnung
Dem Feriengast gesicherte Qualität zu einem
angemessenen Preis bieten ist eine unserer
vorrangigsten Zielsetzungen. in diesem Sinne wurden die in dieser Broschüre angebotenen Ferienwohnungen einer offiziellen Kontrolle bzw. einer Bewertung unterzogen. Die
angegebenen Qualitätszeichen sollen dem
Feriengast eine möglichst transparente und
leicht erfaßbare Information über Komfort
und Ausstattung der Ferienwohnungen, sowie über Preisgestaltung vermitteln.
Die Bewertung oder Qualitätseinstufung
der angebotenen Ferienwohnungen mit
dem Logo “Tourisme Rural” wurde an Hand
einer Reihe von internationalen Normen
entsprechender Kriterien vorgenommen.
Hierbei wurde zwischen Basis- und Bewertungskriterien unterschieden. Als Basisqualitätskriterien gelten im Außenbereich
der Wohnung, u.a., ein gepflegtes Erscheinungsbild der direkten Umgebung, das
Vorhandensein einer Terrasse oder eines
Rasens zum Aufenthalt der Gäste. Im
Innenbereich muß die Wohnung sauber und
gepflegt sein, ordentlich und ausreichend
möbliert und ausgestattet sein. Hierzu zählt
eine funktionsgerechte Kücheneinrichtung,
ein voll ausgestattetes Badezimmer mit
Toilette, eine der Kapazität der Wohnung
entsprechende Möblierung des Wohnzimmers
sowie der Schlafzimmer.
Die Bewertungskriterien dienen dazu, je nach
zusätzlich gebotenem Komfort, zwischen
verschiedenen Qualitätsstufen und Serviceleistungen zu unterscheiden.
Dem Gast bieten sich somit Ferienwohnungen mit verschiedenen Qualitätsniveaus an:
• die Wohnungen mit vier, drei, zwei
oder einer Ähre(n)
diese Wohnungen erfüllen alle
Basiskriterien und bieten, je nach
Anzahl der Ähren, einen immer
höheren Standard an Komfort
und Annehmlichkeiten.

Ferienwohnungen mit der Anmerkung
„c.c.” sind neue Wohnungen, die erst fertiggestellt wurden und demnächst offiziell klassifiziert werden. Diese Wohnungen bieten in
den meisten Fällen ein gutes Qualitätsniveau;
sie entsprechen zumindest den festgesetzten
Mindestkriterien.
Als Beleg für die Qualitätseinstufung findet der
Feriengast in den Wohnungen ein offizielles
Zertifikat mit Angabe der Qualitätseinstufung.
