Board (MHAAB) in producing this resource
to help cultivate opportunities and address

La Guía Hispana de Jacksonville
La Guía Hispana de Jacksonville provee una lista de recursos y servicios disponibles para la
comunidad de habla hispana en Jacksonville, Condado de Duval. La Guía es un proyecto
colectivo de los esfuerzos voluntarios del Consejo de la Salud Hispano de Jacksonville

La Guía Hispana of Jacksonville (The Jacksonville Hispanic Guide) is brought to the
Spanish speaking community to locate services available in Jacksonville, Duval County,
Florida. La Guía is a joint project brough by the voluntary efforts of the Hispanic Health
Council of Jacksonville and the Mayor’s Hispanic American Advisory Board (MHAAB).
The funds for La Guía include a CATCH (Community Access to Child Health) Planning Grant
awarded by the American Academy of Pediatrics to two local pediatricians, Dr. Laura
Beverly and Dr. Patricia Solo-Josephson. Their project identified healthcare access barriers experienced by our area’s Hispanic immigrant pediatric patients and their families.
Additional funds and resources were provided by private donations raised by members of the
Hispanic Health Council of Jacksonville and the Mayor’s Hispanic American Advisory Board
The purpose of La Guía is to connect the Hispanic community with various available
resources. The goal is to overcome some of the barriers identified. Many of the services
included in La GUÍA are available in Spanish, unless otherwise noted. La Guía includes 49
categories of resources, as well as, important phone numbers and information regarding
health insurance coverage, financial, social, legal, government, and other services available.

Nuestra misión es mejorar la salud y el bienestar de las familias Hispanas en el
área metropolitana de Jacksonville.
Our mission is to improve the health and wellness of the Hispanic families in the
greater Jacksonville area.

Este consejo es un producto del trabajo duro, la dedicación y el compromiso del
Departamento de Salud de Florida del Condado de Duval y el antiguo Consejo

This council is a product of the hard work, dedication and commitment of the
Florida Department of Health in Duval County and the former Hispanic Advisory
Council. The group is comprised of individuals and organizations who have
dedicated their time and energy to raise awareness of the emerging issues that
Hispanics face.
