area to the north of Torino, including the white wine Erbaluce di
Caluso and the reds Canavese and Carema which has the characteristic of being grown on pergolas standing on the terraced land.
The highest number of producers is concentrated here, with four
Wine-Growers’ Cooperatives and two Regional Enoteche. Typical
to Canavese is the production of Caluso Passito made from Erbaluce grapes which are left to dry on racks, or hung, for six months.

Passito aus Erbaluce Reben, die auf Rosten oder aufgehängt

and its grape farms extend to cover 19 Municipalities, rising up
to an extreme height: here is found Europe’s highest red grape
vineyard. The wine-growing and producing system is made up
of small farms that can now claim the “DOC” appellation. Very
interesting vineyards are those found high up in Chiomonte
from which the very special “ice-wine” is made.
Das Weingebiet im Susa Tal liegt ausschließlich in größeren Höhen im Gebirge. Es umfasst
19 Gemeinden, viele von ihnen Austragungsorte der Olympischen Winterspiele 2006. Hier
können Sie den in Europa am höchsten gelegenen Weinberg besichtigen, wo rote Weinbeeren
heranreifen. Es sind meistens kleine bis mittelgroße Unternehmen, deren Wein kürzlich mit dem
Prädikat DOC ausgezeichnet wurde. Sehenswert auch die Weinberge von Chiomonte, wo ein
ausgezeichneter Eiswein produziert wird.
This area, where the athletes in the 2006 Winter Olympics
competed, is to the south-west of Torino. The vineyards are
present in an area covering 30 Municipalities, at the foot of the
mountain clinging to steep slopes. A top producer is the Cantina
Sociale di Bricherasio, the most important in terms of volume
capacity in all the area of the province. Characteristic of the area
are the prestigious wines Avanà, Doux d’Henry and Ramìe.
Pinerolo liegt südwestlich von Torino und war Austragungsort

erstreckt sich zu Füßen der Berge oder an steilen Hängen über
30 Gemeinden. Wichtiges Zentrum des Weinanbaus ist die

Uber die Hügel östlich von Torino erstreckt sich ein Weinanbaugebiet, das 28 Gemeinden
umfasst. Hier wachsen zwei DOC Weine, der historische Freisa di Chieri und der neuere
Collina Torinese. Beide Weine werden hauptsächlich von kleinen bis mittleren Unternehmen
produziert. Es handelt sich um ein Gebiet, wo die Savoyer zahlreiche Spuren hinterlassen haben.
Weinberge wechseln sich ab mit malerischen Orten, Schlössern und Kirchen. Die von Juvarra
gebaute Basilica di Superga ist hier nur ein besonders markanter Punkt auf den turiner Hügeln.

ie königliche Straße der turiner Weine, Strada Reale dei vini torinesi,
führt durch eine Gegend um Torino, in der der Weinanbau eine lange Tradition hat. Die Straße ist 600 km lang und schlängelt sich durch vier Weingebiete,
Canavese, Collina Torinese, Pinerolese und Val Susa. Hier werden 25 DOC

in and around Torino which has long had an important tradition in wine making. Along the 600 kilo
metres of this route, you can discover the 4 areas of Canavese,
Collina Torinese, Pinerolese and the Val Susa in which to enjoy
25 wines bearing the DOC appellation produced from 11 local
species of grape, and visit 2 Regional Enoteche (wine sampling repositories). This itinerary is made unique by the exceptional
“corona di delizie” consisting of the various Residenze Reali, named as
“World Heritage Sites” by UNESCO.

he hills to the south of Torino can offer plenty in the way of nature, agricultural
interest, historical sites, craftsmanship and culture. A first class ‘ecosystem’ both for
its panorama and in its concentration of biodiversity: in addition to DOC wines there is
a rich variety of garden produce and fruit, such as the cherries from Pecetto which, in the
spring, is a mass of blossom. Ideal for relaxed walks or for cycling along country paths
or cycle tracks, from this area can be seen exceptional panoramic glimpses of Torino.
The Po Riverside Park is perfect for nature walks and study and for sports along
the banks of Italy’s longest river.

unter Arkaden, an Museen und Palazzi vorbei. Sehenswert ist auch in der Nähe der Stadt
der Felsen „Rocca di Cavour“ . Weiter das Val Chisone aufwärts an Fenestrelle vorbei,
bekannt als Europas größte Festungsanlage, gelangen Sie nach Pragelato und Sestriere. Noch
weiter oben befindet sich die Assietta Militärstraße. Das Val Pellice mit seiner unberührten
Landschaft ist die Heimat der Waldenser. Im Hauptort Torre Pellice Kirchen und
Museen, die die Geschichte dieser ersten Protestanten erzählen. Es können hier
aber auch den Traditionen entsprungene leckere Gerichte gekostet werden. Das
Germanasca Tal ist das wildeste der Täler im Gebiet um Pinerolo: in Prali sind
die Dreizehn Seen eine viel besuchte Naturschönheit, während „Scopriminera“
(Bergwerk entdecken) die Geschichte der Gewinnung von Talkum veranschaulicht.

inerolo is the “Cavalry City”, to be explored by walking through colonnades, museums and palaces. Also not to be missed, close to the city, is the
Rocca di Cavour. The crown of mountains, which rises through the Val Chisone
passing via Fenestrelle (famous for holding Europe’s largest fortified structure),
finally reaches Pragelato and Sestriere. High up it is possible to follow the Assietta
military road. The story of the Waldensians can be witnessed everywhere in the
uncontaminated landscape of the whole Val Pellice: not only the museums and churches
at Torre Pellice, but also the delicious, tempting recipes of the area. Val Germanasca
is the most natural and wild of the Pinerolese valleys: at Prali, the Thirteen Lakes is
the destination for breathtaking excursions, while “Scopriminiera” (Mine discovery)

anavese is a splendid corner of Piemonte which encloses an endless number of
historical, artistic, natural and wine/food treasures. This area has a unique situation: it
rises from 200m to 4,000 metres within the space of just a few kilometres. From the plain
of the Po and Dora Baltea Rivers, you can go up the hills to the Morainic Amphitheatre
of Ivrea and then continue climbing up to the green mountains and to the ragged peaks
of Gran Paradiso. This will be a visit of continual discovery due to the extremely diversified natural settings and the culture of the people who have always lived in these areas.
Canavese is a land full of lakes and castles, where all the vineyards testify to the passion for
