Heute, 30 Jahre nach der Gründung, zählt die Firma SOMMER
mit ihren über 240 Mitarbeitern zu Europas führenden Herstellern
hochwertiger und innovativer Antriebs- und Funktechnik. Diese Erfolgsgeschichte wäre ohne unsere Kunden, ohne unsere

Everything started with an idea and a lot of inventive talent in
a small workshop in Kirchheim/Teck, Germany. The result was a
revolutionary operator system for garage doors using a travelling
motor.
Today, 30 years after the foundation, SOMMER has become a

Geschichte
Am 01.04.1980 gründete Frank-Uwe Sommer die „SOMMER
GmbH“ in Kirchheim/Teck. Mit dem Verkauf und der Produktion
der lizenzierten „egrotronik“ Garagentorantriebe startete er.
Die Erfolgsgeschichte der Fa. SOMMER begann mit der Einführung des „marathon“ Garagentorantriebs 1987. Die SOMMERTechnologie des mitfahrenden Motors, der die Kraft direkt auf
das Torblatt bringt und so getriebeschonender ist, war erfunden.
Zusammen mit unseren Kunden haben wir die Produktvorteile
unserer Technologie weiterentwickelt, den länderspezifischen
Anforderungen und Veränderungen im Torbau angepasst und
innovative, kundenorientierte Lösungen angeboten. Eine Reihe

GmbH“ company in Kirchheim/Teck. He startetd with the sales
and the production under license of the “egrotronik” garage door
operator. The real success for SOMMER started with the launch
of the “marathon” garage door operator in 1987. The SOMMER
technology of using a travelling motor, which converts the power
direct to the garage door and which can be controlled more easily,
was invented.
Together with our customers we refined the product advantages of
our technology, we adjusted the country-specific requirements and
variances of door constructions, we offered innovative, customeroriented solutions. A number of further innovations was the result,
this underlines our technology leadership.
The “duo” garage door operator is the most successful product in
the today’s product range because they combine the known product
advantages of the travelling motor with the universal installation

Le 01.04.1980, Frank-Uwe Sommer créa la société « SOMMER
GmbH » basée à Kirchheim/Teck. Il acheta la licence pour la
fabrication et la vente de l’automatisme de portes de garage
« egrotronik ». Le succès de la société SOMMER commença avec
le lancement de l’automatisme de portes de garage « marathon »
en 1987. La technologie SOMMER a inventé le système du chariot
moteur mobile dont la puissance s’exerce directement sur la feuillure
de la porte.
Ensemble, avec notre clientèle, nous perfectionnâmes au fil des
années les atouts de cette technologie ; nous nous adaptâmes aux
changements et aux exigences du domaine de la fermeture selon
les pays et nous proposâmes des solutions innovantes et adaptées
à la demande des clients. Une série d’autres innovations s’en suivit
et consolida la position de leader technologique de la société
SOMMER dans le monde de l’automatisme de portes de garage.
Parmi notre palette de produits actuelle, la gamme des automatismes
de portes de garage « duo vision » est celle qui a le plus de succès
car elle unit les avantages du système du chariot moteur mobile à
ceux des possibilités de montage universel. Que l’on installe l’automatisme au plafond, près de la porte de garage ou près de la

Die Firma SOMMER ist bereits seit 1995 nach „DIN EN ISO
9001“ zertifiziert. Ein Beleg für unsere hohen Qualitäts- und Produktionsstandards. Alle unsere Antriebe unterliegen noch weiteren strengen Kontrollen. Dazu gehört die regelmäßige Überwachung durch den TÜV und die Einhaltung der „Elektrischen
Sicherheit“ und „Elektromagnetischen Verträglichkeit“. Zudem
wird die Sicherheit von unabhängigen Instituten nach gesetzlichen
Bestimmungen und Normen protokolliert.
Zusätzlich werden unsere Garagentorantriebe der freiwilligen
RAL-Prüfung unterzogen. Deren Hauptkriterium ist die Dauerfunktionsprüfung des Antriebs. Eine weitere Besonderheit: Über 1500
Tor-Antriebs-Kombinationen mit SOMMER Garagentorantrieben
und Toren verschiedener namhafter Hersteller sind zertifiziert.

The SOMMER company has been certified according to “DIN EN
ISO 9001” since 1995. This guarantees you the highest standards
of quality and production. All our operators are subjected by further
strict controls including the monitoring by the German Technical
Inspection Association (TÜV) at regular intervals and the compliance of the “Electrical Safety” and “Electromagnetic Compatibility”.
The safety is also validated and certified by independent institutes
according to statutory provisions and standards.
In addition, the SOMMER garage door operators are subject to the
voluntary RAL-inspection. The main criteria involves an endurance
function test for the operator. A special feature: Over 1,500 door
operator combinations with SOMMER garage door operators and
doors made by various prominent manufacturers are certified. You
