Duration: 60 minutes. 12 principals & chorus of Japanese Villagers, Nobles & Guards,
1 or 2 basic sets. A Wand’ring Minstrel comes to Titipu looking for his true love, only
to find that she is to marry Ko-Ko, The Lord High Executioner (and the runner of local
scams). Suddenly – the town learns of an imminent visit from the Mikado. Something
funny is going on here …

The Pirates of Penzance
Duration: 60 minutes. 12 principals & chorus of pirates, police & daughters, two basic
sets. In Cornwall in the 1880s, Frederik, once mistakenly apprenticed to a pirate ship,
has fallen for Mabel, daughter of the Very Model Of A Modern Major General. for
her love he must now defeat his old shipmates (with the dubious aid of a troop of
bumbling police).

an Australian schoolboy who falls asleep doing his history homework and wakes up in
Camelot. He introduces modern technology to the ancient kingdom and tries to outwit
Merlin, who sees him as a rival Wizard. But is the old world ready to meet the new?

Fabulous! Most suitable to this age group. Lots of small speaking parts that gave
every performer a chance to shine, with just a few solo singing parts and lots of
chorus work – just what we need! The music was well written – congratulations
– with great medieval flavour and easy-to-follow, catchy melodies and clever,

A Kidsummer Night’s Dream
A musical fantasy by Bartlett-Billings-Fairbairn-Leehy-O’Mara
Duration: 90 minutes. 21 principals & chorus. This marvellous musical explodes in
a joyous celebration of Shakespeare’s classic comedy, A Kidsummer Night’s Dream –
full of mischief and mayhem, misunderstandings & magic potion mix-ups, as kings
& queens, humble workers, fairies, parents & kids all chase their dreams. This show
is simply… MAGIC! One of our most popular shows.

Brilliant! A Kidsummer Night’s Dream was an excellent script, as students
grasped the concepts extremely well and certainly did the production proud.
Comments such as ‘The best production yet’ were numerous.
One that Year 6, 2006, will never forget. Ben Venue Public School
Brilliant – for a large cast it worked well (all your shows do), Funny, entertaining,
great songs. Had lots of positive feedback from colleagues & parents. One on the

Masquerade!
A commedia dell arte musical by Bartlett-Billings-Fairbairn-Leehy-O’Mara
Duration: 60 minutes. 16 principals & chorus. One set. Based on Mark Twain’s The
Prince and the Pauper. In a renaissance town, over the course of a single day, the
course of history is changed as Arlecchino helps Prince Nicolo and Pauper Nicola
exchange places and experience life on the other side. Slapstick & fast paced. A
wonderful intro to the music theatre of Commedia – with parts for a live student
recorder/percussion band on stage (if required).

Kids At Sea (Sindbad Sails Again)
A Rock Odyssey by Bartlett-Fairbairn-Leehy-O’Mara

Harold Sindbad, meeting pirates, mer-people, sultans, Roc Birds and ending up on
the Fabulous Treasure Island, where dreams come true and everyone gets what
they want on Neptune’s Wonderful Wheel of Fortune. Boisterous, up-lifting and
positive—FABULOUS SONGS! Our most popular show.
Thank you for such an entertaining musical. We thoroughly enjoyed staging
it and have many happy memories of the event. We have been staggered
at the number of other schools in Adelaide also doing it this year.

The Little Mermaid
A musical fantasy by Bartlett-Billings-Fairbairn-Leehy-O’Mara
Duration: 55 minutes. 21 principals & chorus, one basic set. Based on the Hans
Christian Andersen tale of the mermaid who gives up her voice to leave the sea
for an earthly prince. This story is filled with wonderful characters from below
& above the sea. Separate piano score.

Excellent – musically superb. Enables great choreography.
Halendorf PS
An excellent show, The children enjoyed every minute – even the rehearsals were full of
enthusiasm. Great songs, great lines, well packaged & put together – easy for rehearsals.
When you write another one we would love to look at it.
Pinocchio The Musical
by Andie Browne
Duration: 60 minutes. 18 principals & chorus. Adapted from Carlo Collodi’s famous
story of the lonely puppet-maker and his mischievous creation, this delightful show
is packed with great songs, clear dialogue and simple but inventive scripting.
This is one of your best shows, It is lively, it lends itself to a large cast
and choruses and it moves freely and continuously.

Dangerkids
(or Where the Heck is Carmen San Francisco?)
A Joke & Dagger Musical by Bartlett-Fairbairn-Leehy-O’Mara
Duration: 70 minutes. 19 principals & chorus. The Heads of Government (HOGS) are
worried. They have only 7 days to locate Carmen’s rocket, or she’ll launch a satellite
to control the world’s video games so that the BADDIES always win. Time to send in
the world’s last hope — the DANGERKIDS.
Excellent – another Bushfire Press success. Children really enjoyed the spy
theme and mystery! We all had a great time and once again parents really

Dragon Girl
A musical fantasy by Bartlett-Black-Leehy-O’Mara
Duration: 65 minutes. 12 principals & chorus. With the power of the HEARTSTONE,
and the help of Zardok, last of the Great Wizards, young Anna faces her greatest
fear...in a strange kingdom … in another time. Excellent for strong leads. Stunning
songs, blending rock and medieval music.
This show is fantastic. It takes the audience on a wonderful journey. The
children love the music and the narrative. It is a wonderful show to present as
the scenery, costumes etc can be simple or complex and can still be effective.

I have produced 9 Bushfire Press musicals now and this is one of my favourites – lovely music
& great scope for principals and development of atmosphere. Newborough East Primary School
Superkids
A Rock Comedy by Bartlett-Fairbairn-Leehy-O’Mara
Duration: 60 min. Mixed cast of 18 principals & chorus. Nigel, a mild-mannered
schoolboy suddenly gains super hero powers and becomes Captain Vegemite, and,
with his faithful companion Robin, the Wholemeal Kid, outsmarts the school bullies
and brings peace to the playground. A positive and affirming musical that addresses
bullying in an hilarious comic-book spoof!
Superkids is a fun show and the storyline fits with a Health topic the Seniors
will be addressing in Term 2 (Bullies & standing up for themselves). I like the
fact that the show comes with music, CDs, backing music, notes … this is about
the 4th Bushfire Press show I have been involved with. I love them and so do

Fabulous! I directed it 10 years ago and thought the slight updating changes were

Once Upon A Time
A Rock Fable by Bartlett-Leehy-O’Mara
Duration: 60 min. 16 principals & chorus. Who let Captain Boredom and the Zombie
Army out? Mother Goose has been away and Goosey Gander has been in charge.
Imagination has disappeared from Nursery Town. Can Mayor Humpty rally the good
folk of Nursery Town and defeat the forces of boredom?

We were thrilled with the end results. Loved the songs which were readily
learned by all ages. Children were enthusiastic about characters and
storyline from the beginning. Extremely positive feedback from community
and audience. Ideal show for mixed ages – thank you! Brightwater School
The choice of this play turned out to be an inspired one, becase it was such a delight
to stage it. We included every child from Grade 3 to Grade 6 … Teachers, students and
families alike continue to rave about ‘Once Upon a Time’, about its funny dialogue, its
wonderful range of musical numbers and the enthusiasm and talent of all our students,
which were showcased to such effect in this very clever musical. Thanks to the writers.

Kids In Space
A User-Friendly Rock Musical by Bartlett-Fairbairn-Leehy-O’Mara
Duration: 60 min. 11 principals & chorus. Meet your average futuristic space family
and their annoying son, Cumulo Nimbus, who wags school and ends up in the
BLACK HOLE with the Space Pirates, a crazy professor and his rejuvinating bubble
gum. Great songs! One of our most popular shows.
The show was extremely successful and the kids really enjoyed being involved.
The show was easy to stage, especially with the excellent resources that were
provided. The music & songs were terrific.

An Island Musical by Bartlett-Leehy-O’Mara
Duration: 65 min. Mixed cast of 9 principals & chorus. Can Bomba, would-be
witchdoctor, save the magic Bongo Tree from the hands of big business? Get shipwrecked in Paradise for an hour and find out. A joyous explosion of reggae, calypso,
zydeco, rock etc. Good for environmental & conservation themes.

Currawong Creek
An Outback Musical by Bartlett-Leehy-O’Mara
Duration: 60 min. 7 principals & chorus. Join Archie the English Badger and his
Australian cousins on the worst-run station in the outback! Excellent for bushfire
prevention & Australiana themes.
It was great to do an ‘Aussie’ show with English children. I had to explain

The Billabong Prank
A Dinki-Di Aussie Musical by Jan McLean & Doug Williams
Duration: 65 minutes. 26 principals & chorus. Come a-Waltzing Matilda with the
Swaggie, the Squatter, the Troopers & the Jumbuck, & learn the TRUE story behind
Waltzing Matilda in this chaotic comedy of errors … the funniest wedding day
in Australian history.
Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic! The kids loved it – as did the parents.

The Jazz Nativity
A Musical by Andie Browne & Anne Davies
Duration: 60 minutes. 10 principals & chorus. Rock, gospel, blues, swing, soul, ballad,
calypso, rap & even C&W styles feature in this unique Nativity, as the members of a
modern day family gather for Christmas dinner, & each tells a part of the Christmas
story in their own way.
The show worked perfectly for our school. We had year 6 students in all the lead
roles. Each class then presented a song. The script was easy to follow & entertaining.
The song lyrics were clear. The children managed using the backing tracks. Thank you
for providing such a great musical which was perfect for this time of year.
