with Time and Dedication

In an area famed for its Barolo and Spumante, a
different type of wine is paving the way for a new
kind of vintage emerging from within the sprawling
vineyards of the Asti hills. Chablis, a famous white
from Burgundy, has a legacy in these parts too,
albeit a four-legged one: he is the horse with whom
Valentina Truppa celebrated her first big successes
as a Young Rider, and who kick-started her ascent
in senior international dressage. “Chablis is the
epitome of genius and wildness, a horse too clever for his own good at times. And Valentina’s only
boyfriend, as we always joke,” says, with a smile, O-judge Dr Enzo Truppa, a former Olympian
himself, and father-cum-trainer of Italy’s dressage prodigy.
Valentina will step into her father’s footprints this summer when she becomes the sole Italian
representative for dressage in London. Chablis helped get her where she is now, but it is on board
Eremo del Castegno that she will be potentially bidding for Italy’s first-ever dressage medal,
donning her tailcoat once again, as uniforms are not allowed under IOC rules. And the 10-year-old
Italian-bred gelding, by Rohdiamant x Weltmeyer, has already made history, taking bronze at the
World Cup Final in s’Hertogenbosch this April. Just like the very best wines, Eremo is a horse who
has come on so much with age. “Eremo had so much power at the start and he was so over-eager
that he would lose his balance if I pushed too much,” explains Valentina; “It has taken time to make
him really sit and come up instead of rushing”.

Importantly, Eremo was allowed that time, and time is a word
that appears with striking frequency in any conversation with
the Truppas. “Horses are a bit like young gymnasts: you
cannot ask for everything right from the start”, explains
Valentina. “We don't do anything that the horse is not truly
able to do. It’s a huge advantage that my dad is my only
owner, as this means there is no undue pressure on me to
push the horses. We don't have any owners demanding their
horses should go out at PSG tomorrow. We own the horses,
and therefore we’re able to do it only when they are truly
ready”. Eremo is a case in point. “Because of his overeagerness – when he was eight, you could almost hear him
scream ‘What can I do now, what can I do?’–”, chips in Dr
Truppa, “a movement such as piaffe could prove difficult: the
risk with over-willing horses is that they can become
claustrophobic in piaffe. So we always allowed him forwards,
even at the risk of sacrificing some marks. It was only last
year that Valentina finally asked him to piaffe truly on the spot, and now we probably have one of the
very best piaffes on the international circuit.” Time is also the reason why young horse classes are
not high up on Valentina’s list of priorities: despite some emerging talents on the yard, the long-term
aim is obviously Grand Prix and no youngster is actively campaigned with young horse
championships in mind – although she doesn’t rule out competing in some, if and when the horse in
question is ready.
Together with time, natural, horse-friendly training methods are the only rules in Asti. “There are no
gadgets at all here,” enthuses Dr Truppa. “In the whole yard, there is not one single pair of draw
reins – Valentina would not even know how to put them on. George Theodorescu used to say that
they are a ‘road to hell’ and we agree with that sentiment. There is no place in proper training for
shortcuts like that.”

Theodorescu was one of the greatest influences on
Valentina’s development as a rider and trainer, but like
blending grapes can produce more versatile wines, pieces of
wisdom have been happily taken from diverse trainers. “We
have worked with Monica Theodorescu and her father;
Valentina spent several months at Hubertus Schmidt’s yard a
few years ago, and we try and organise clinics with top
trainers – such as Jan Bemelmans, Morten Thomsen and,
most recently, Wolfram Wittig – coming over to Asti regularly,
every three or four months at least. It’s always extremely
useful to exchange ideas, and to borrow tips from different
trainers. Even if it’s only to get confirmation that the way we
are working is correct: you truly never stop learning in this
sport and you can be the most successful rider on earth, but
you still need to learn.”
This medley of different voices has led to the creation of a
clearly successful training system which is very much the Truppas’ own. “Each horse is an individual
and you can’t just have one single working method for all: it is imperative that you adapt it according
to each horse’s particular needs. Even something as simple as the warm-up has to be tailored to
each horse’s characteristics – for instance, spirited horses like Eremo or Teknik (Valentina’s first
horse) benefit from starting the warm-up with the canter work first, rather than trot,” says Enzo.
“Having said that, we do use the same basic system for all horses. Everything is based on
gymnasticising, and on perfecting the basics. Sometimes we will play with movements, obviously,
but definitely not every day – the main, daily work is purely gymnastic. We use leg-yielding as an
important training tool, both as a means of improving suppleness and relaxation in the horse, and
therefore riding it quite steeply, and as a developing exercise, alternating it with half-pass, in order
to develop reach in the half-passes. In the same way, to improve bend in the ribcage we often
incorporate a small circle or volte after the half-pass, so that the horse learns to maintain flexion and
bend all the way until the end. We also do lots of counter canter and lots of tempo variations within
the counter canter. We always try and ride the corners in counter canter rather than change
immediately, even with the really established GP horses. It all helps keep them supple and on the
aids, and, this way, the flying change almost becomes a reward”.

On the subject of rewards, if, whilst training, an exercise is
carried out in a particularly satisfactory manner – even
something as relatively simple as, for instance, a perfect
square halt on the centreline – then Valentina will get off, on
the basis that this is the best possible reward for the horse
and, therefore, a tool to be exploited.
“In general, our philosophy is to second the horse, never go
against him,” explains Valentina. “For instance, my 7-yearold, Ranieri (a Danish WB by Blue Hors Romanov) can be
over-eager at times, a bit like Eremo, and will offer flying
changes, but we never, ever punish him for that. He does
have to learn to wait for me, so, if I feel he is anticipating, I will
do a transition to walk, but we don’t punish him. With even
younger horses, we like to lunge them in freedom before
riding. That’s another tip we got from George Theodorescu:
he encouraged horses to move as they pleased on the lunge for ten minutes or so, so that the rider
is then in a better position to ask the horse to concentrate on the work at hand for the next twenty
minutes."
Valentina demonstrates this with Nilo del Castegno, a 5-year-old by Stedinger, out of the same dam
as Eremo, Weltgirl (Weltmeyer x Consul, a stunning mare who has produced, among others, two
international GP horses – Eremo, by Rohdiamant, and Beldonwelt, by De Niro – as well as Fede
del Castegno, by Rubinstein, who was hugely successful in young horse classes in Italy). “Nilo can
be very cheeky and definitely has a sense of humour,” says Dr Truppa. “So much so that the
breeder almost didn’t want us to have him, as he was worried he’d be too sharp! But he’s been here
since he was three and he’s really settled now”.

This is undoubtedly helped by the fact that
Valentina takes her time with him, not only when
riding him but also when handling him from the
ground. “I love being around horses – obviously I
love riding, but I also just love being with them,
spending time with them,” she emphasises as she
puts turnout boots on Nilo, who is patiently standing
in the cross ties. “I think a horse like Nilo has
improved so much in terms of relaxation and selfconfidence partly because of the time I spend with
him on the ground. I always try to do small stuff like
putting bandages on myself, or turning him out
myself, so that we can really develop a relationship which can then be advanced under saddle."
Valentina’s ample experience with youngsters has come almost out of necessity. “We can’t afford to
buy ready-made, world-class Grand Prix horses,” she lucidly explains. “Therefore, we have to make
our own! With a few exceptions, we’ve bought most of our horses as 6-month-old foals. They are
then broken in at three with horse-friendly, natural horsemanship methods, which is important to us
so that, by the time they come to the yard after being broken, we can crack on with their ridden
education. Incidentally, I find the ethological approach particularly fascinating – we recently
organised a clinic with a Parelli trainer, Sergio Vezzoni, at the end of which I rode Ranieri bareback
and Chablis in a headcollar,” she continues. “Of course, the youngsters aren’t ridden every day: I
alternate between schooling, hacking and turnout. All the horses go out in the field, to ensure mental,
as well as physical, relaxation.” The Truppas buy a few foals most years; in 2011 they bought a full
sister to Eremo, a filly called Romea bred by the Castegno stud on Enzo’s request (Weltgirl is not
getting any younger, and the Truppas long desired a full sibling to Eremo) as well as a Painted
Black foal, Asso Rosso di Fonteabeti, from a different breeding stud, Fonteabeti near Perugia.

At just 26, Valentina is already passing on what
she has learnt in the saddle, ensuring a bright
future for dressage in Italy. “I normally ride in the
morning and teach in the afternoon; I have some
really good students, including Federica Scolari,
Maddalena Zambaiti and Micol Rustignoli, who
keep their horses at my yard and whom I really
enjoy teaching. For some of them it’s a long drive
to come to Asti to ride: it’s testament to their
motivation and passion”. Federica and Micol will
be debuting at their first major international in the
Under-25 Grand Prix at the CDI 5* in Munich, in
mid-May. It isn’t always easy to find the right balance between riding, competing and teaching, but
Valentina enjoys teaching almost as much as she enjoys riding, which makes it easier to combine
the two. Incidentally, Micol is riding Valentina’s former GP horse Corallo Nero del Castegno, while
Federica is riding another Weltgirl offspring, Beldonwelt. Both Corallo and Beldon, as well as
Eremo and Chablis, have been trained up to Grand Prix by Valentina since they were youngsters –
no mean feat, considering her young age. Her passion for the horses entrusted in her care
transpires when she talks of Corallo: “If it were for me, no horse would be sold, ever – I’d keep them
all! With Corallo I have found a truly optimal solution: Micol was horseless after the retirement of her
Young Rider team horse and I was finding I had increasingly less time for him because I was
campaigning both Chablis and Eremo at international Grand Prix, so she got him on loan. Which
works out perfectly for me, because I still get to see him every day! As for Beldonwelt, what can I
say? This is a horse who came here when he was working at Novice level and Federica was a
teenager. Now they’re about to debut at international Grand Prix. These are huge satisfactions and
this is precisely what I mean when I say that training can be just as fulfilling as riding itself”.

Munich, Germany (May 18, 2012) – The first day of the 2012 World Dressage Masters in
Munich presented by Axel Johnson Group exceeded all expectations. With an impressive
starting field of 19 riders and 10 nationalities represented, the WDM Grand Prix resulted in
16 riders scoring over 70%. Isabell Werth and her El Santo showed that experience counts,
and scored the fantastic result of 77.426%, before number two Valentina Truppa, who rode
her new superstar Eremo del Castegno, that charmed the judges to a score of 76.510%. On
a third place came Victoria Max-Theurer and her Agustin OLD on 75.957%.
Isabell's 11-year old "Ernie" that he is called at home, or El S anto (Ehrentusch) as we know
him, was showing a great form, even though Isabell herself wasn't entirely happy with the piaffe.
"They can be improved, and I have some work to do there, they can be better. But he felt very
good today and gave me a light feeling in the end, so I'm very happy," she said and smiled.
Isabell took a third place in last years' WDM Grand Prix Freestyle, and returned this year, only
to score gold. The secret recipe to climb from a third place to win? "There is no secret, we
always try to do our best", she says with honesty and smiles.

Wim Ernes, WDM GP Judge was dazzled by Isabell's ride. "Isabell rode like a true star. It was
a really high horse and rider quality," he says and continues: “We have seen some really high
quality sport today overall, and our job as judges hasn't been easy, thanks to the very even
performances and rides. With 16 riders scoring over 70% it's clear the quality was high and
many riders and horses were performing really well. I must say that Valentina's horse showed
an extreme amount of horse quality and Isabell showed an extreme amount of riders quality.”
Valentina Truppa was very happy with her second place and her scores. "My horse Eremo did
a great job and I am so pleased with him."

the piaffe and the passage and moved not only himself and Valentina to score 76.510 points,
but moved the entire audience to applause. "He is my new star in the stable and he can go very

with me that I rode in the WDM Palm Beach earlier this year, but Eremo is a greater mover,
and to take him here to Munich is a great pleasure. It's actually one of the best outdoor
competitions I know. I love to ride here!"

The results in the WDM Grand Prix makes it even more exciting for Sunday's Finals in the
Nürnberger Rider Ranking that will decide what rider will go home with 25 000 Euros more in
their pockets. The battle stands between two riders – last years' winner Anja Plönzke and the
Swedish WDM "veteran" Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfvén.
Who wins will be decided on Sunday after the Grand Prix Freestyle.

Prix Friday, and Italy’s Valentina Truppa and Eremeo del Castegna placed second with a personal
best score as they gear up for the Olympics this summer.
Isabell and the 11-year-old Rhinelander gelding (Ehrentusch x Rhythme x Rhythmus) scored 77.426
per cent, their best score at Grand Prix in 10 months as the world’s most decorated dressage rider
fights for a place on her fifth German Olympic team.
The 26-year-old Valentina Truppa and Eremo del Castegna, Italy’s top combination and qualified
as an individual for London, scored 76.511 per cent, eclipsing the previous best for the pair of
75.106 per cent that they were awarded at the World Cup Final in ‘s-Herienbosch,The Netherlands
last month in which she and the 11-year-old Italian-bred gelding (Rohdiamant x Weltgirl x
Weltmeyer) came third.
Austria’s Victoria Max-Theurer and Augustin OLD were third on 75.957 per cent. Vici, also aged
26, has already been nominated by Austria for her third Olympics–she rode in the 2004 Athens and
2008 Beijing Games.
British veteran Richard Davison and Hiscox Artemis also posted a personal best score of 74.404
per cent in finishing fourth, surpassing their previous high of 73.374 per cent attained just a month
ago also at the World Cup Final in The Netherlands.
Hiscox Artemis (Florestan x Delphine x Delphi), a 13-year-old Westfalen gelding, has been
competed by Richard at Grand Prix since the end of 2008 but the pair have not made a British
championship team and are seeking one of the four places–three team and one individual–that the
host nation has qualified for and are favorites for team gold.
Also Friday, Sweden’s Tinne Vilhelmsson-Silfvén and Don Auriello won the CDI3* Olympic Grand
Prix Special with 74.756 per cent with fellow nominated Olympic team mate Patrik Kittel on Silvano
71 second on 72.400 per cent and Victoria Max-Theurer on her Eichendorff 10 in third place on
71.889 per cent.

Okay, here we go!
So first, Valentina Truppa is from Italy. She is also a police officer and the outfit that she wears is
actually an Italian police officer’s uniform because that’s what she competes in. Which I think is
pretty cool.
Sorry this one is so small. You can see though that
her position is not very effective. I belive that she is
beginning an extended canter in this photo. You can
see that she is leaning forward, her hands are very
high, and her lower leg is turned out.
The position of her hands is interesting to me
because it’s a quirk of hers that she carries her
hands very high. For the most part, her elbows are
usually at a 90 degree angle so she’s not effectively
communicating with the horse’s mouth.
I like this photo because her horse is slighltly in front
of the vertical which is not normal for her but he
seems to be working happily. He is lifting his
shoulder up as you can see from the green line. The
blue line shows where all the
effectiveness of her hands is
going though. Instead of
working with the horse’s
mouth through he bit, she’s
really just holding onto it.
She’s using a lot of curb rein
as well. Finally, again her
toes are pointed outwards,
and her lower leg is far in
front of the rest of her body.
It is always interesting to see
how riders ride different

You can see that her arms are more relaxed, her position is better and the horse looks more
relaxed. I always find it interesting to watch riders on a variety of horses to see what is consistent
about them. I have seen videos and photos of Valentina Truppa on this horse where she has her
hands high so I would say this shot is a minority of her moments. But still, lovely.
I think that Truppa is a lovely rider and that she is a strong rider with lots of potential but maybe she
needs to relax just a little bit. Still though, ONE HANDED ONE TEMPIS.

The last day of the World Dressage Masters in Munich was
more than a success. It was epic. In a field of eight world
class riders the Italian Valentina Truppa scored a first place
on amazing 84.250% aboard her eleven year old Eremo del
Castegno. They rocked the arena, and the audience couldn't
help but burst into spontaneous applause during their ride.
With one-handed series of flying changes, a piaffe and
passage tour in absolute perfection and with a show-factor
that was hard to beat, Valentina charmed not only the judges,
but the entire audience to a victory. Close after, on the score
of 84.050% landed number two Isabell Werth with her El
Santo. To the tunes of David Bowie they showed what real
extensions should look like and literary exploded of power to
get standing ovations from the crowds that flocked around the arena to see the mighty duo. The third
place was taken by Austrian star Victoria Max-Theurer and her Augustin OLD, to the scores of
81.050%.
Italy's dressage queen performed an absolute top-program and scored the amazing 84.250%. "This
was my personal record in a Kür, despite some mistakes, so there is still margin for improvement,"
Truppa told Eurodressage. "I never expected the public to clap so much during the actual test – in
Stuttgart they clapped once after the line of one-handed one-tempis, but here they clapped three
times, after the changes, after my extended canter and after the final piaffe pirouette and counterpirouette. I didn’t find it distracting at all – maybe because the music is so loud anyway, so it didn't
feel anywhere as intrusive as clapping during a normal test, when there is total silence, would do. I
was a little worried Eremo might get scared and jump out of the arena, but he was very very good
and did not mind the clapping at all. He probably thought it was part of the music! I absolutely loved
it, and by the end I had a big smile on my face! It almost made me laugh. It’s just fantastic to have
this kind of response from the public."

Truppa received several 10s on her score sheets, her first
being on Friday in the Grand Prix. "It was also especially
satisfying to get quite a lot of tens for the piaffe and passage.
We had been getting increasingly high scores for the piaffe,
and finally during the Grand Prix on Friday we got our first
10s – quite a handful of them actually, including at least one
from each judge – so it’s lovely to see that we’re finally
getting these marks, as I do believe that, as Katrina (Wust)
said, he probably has the best piaffe in the world right now."
In preparation of the London Olympics, Truppa will ride one
more show with Eremo at Aachen. "Eremo will have a little
rest now, and then we will do Aachen. I know that a lot of
riders won’t take their first horses there, but I have nothing to
lose and everything to gain, and Eremo and I still have to try
the Special, so I think Aachen will be a good test for us. With
Chablis I will do Fritzens and then Lipica, so that, like last
year, I can get started with my World Cup campaign quite early on. I will compete Chablis first in the
World Cup tour, while Eremo will concentrate on Aachen and then London, and then I will finish the
World Cup campaign with Eremo."

Judge at C Katrina Wüst couldn't praise the three top
finishing rides enough. "Dressage is like football. If
something goes wrong, you can always compensate that with
something else. And that is really what we try to look for. We
are not searching for the mistakes. We are looking at the
total expression of the horse and rider, the attempts to
compensate small mistakes with greater risk-taking and
power in other movements. And what we saw today was
three riders and horses that gave the maximum in everything,
who compensated small mistakes with the highest power
and perfection, and that truly performed with happiness and
harmony".
Austrian Max-Theurer became the most successful dressage
rider during the entire event at Pferd International. With a big
smile, she thanked the organizers for the fantastic show: "It is always an honor to come here. This is
a wonderful chance for us riders to compete on different levels, at an arena that has a perfect setting
and a wonderful audience and
that is always such a great success!"

Viva Italia! Die Italienerin Valentina Truppa machte aus dem Münchner Dressurstadion
eine italienische Jubelmeile. Mit 84,25 Prozent hat sie die CDI5*-Kür beim Turnier Pferd
international gewonnen ...
München – Das passiert (noch?) selten in einem Dressurstadion: Die italienische Hymne schallte
durch den Park von München-Riem. Die 26-jährige Valentina Truppa ritt einhändig auf das
italienische Schlager-Medley die Einer-Wechsel und dann passierte es: Frenetisches Klatschen
und noch zweimal danach Zwischenapplaus, mitten in der Dressur. Bei der Grußaufstellung war der
Jubel nicht mehr zu halten, von den Zuschauern nicht, und von der Reiterin auch nicht. Sie riss beide
Hände in die Höhe und war happy über ihren versammlungshochbegabten Eremo del Castegno ,
der mit seinen Piaffen und Passagen wirklich vom Hocker riss. Auch die Richter, die gaben für die
Kür 84,25 Prozent.

Top Stimmung im vollen Stadion. Und, wie Richterin Katrina Wüst meinte, ein WimpernschlagFinale. Denn mit 84,05 Prozent wurde Isabell Werth Zweite, mit einem piaffierenden El Santo und
einem "bedingungslosen Vorwärtsdrang", so Katrina Wüst.
Die Königin der Pirouetten war die Drittplatzierte, Victoria Max-Theurer aus Österreich, sie hat sich

Auch ohne Matthias Rath und Totilas, die im vergangenen Jahr ihr
erstes gemeinsames Turnier in München-Riem bestritten hatten und
in diesem Jahr kurzfristig absagten, ebenso wie Ulla Salzgeber mit
Herzruf’s Erbe, erlebte die Veranstaltung Dressursport auf absoluten
Weltklasse-Niveau. Die Italienerin Valentina Truppa und der elfjährige
Wallach Eremo del Castegno siegten mit einer neuen persönlichen
Rekordprozentzahl von 84,250 Prozent. Die 26jährige, dreifache
Weltcup-Finalsiegerin der Jungen Reiter hatte die Tausenden
Zuschauer, die das Dressurviereck säumten, zu begeisterten
Szenenapplaus während ihres Rittes hingerissen.
Als letzte Starterin setzte Isabell Werth alles auf eine Karte und die
Piaffen sollten ihr mit El Santo NRW noch besser gelingen als im
Grand Prix, den das Paar gewonnen hatte. Am Ende fehlten 0,2
Prozentpunkte zum Sieg und es wurde für die fünffache Olympiasiegerin Platz zwei. Ihre 84,05
Prozent bedeuten jedoch, dass sie erneut auf einen Platz im deutschen Olympiateam Anspruch
erheben wird.
Dritte wurde die Österreicherin Victoria Max-Theurer mit dem Oldenburger Hengst Augustin OLD
(81,050), die außerdem als erfolgreichste Dressurreiterin des Turniers geehrt wurde. Eine
persönliche Rekordpunktzahl erzielte auch Dorothee Schneider mit Diva Royal und 78,25 Prozent
für eine äußerst flüssige und harmonische Vorstellung. Die dreifache Mannschafts-Olympiasiegerin
Nadine Capellmann kam mit ihrem Olympiapferd von 2008, Elvis VA, auf Platz fünf (76,50) und
zeigte sich sehr glücklich über ihre Vorstellung, in der bis auf die Piaffen alles sehr gut gelingen
wollte.
Die Gesamtwertung der World Dressage Master-Tour sicherte sich die Schwedin Tinne
Vilhelmson-Silfven mit ihrem Sieg im B-Finale, dem Grand Prix Special, am Samstag. Dafür gab
es 25.000 Euro.

World Dressage Masters 2012 in Munich - Epic!
Munich, Germany (May 21, 2012) – The German edition of the World Dressage Masters
presented by Axel Johnson Group was clearly more than fantastic success. It was epic. A
field of heavy hitters were battling for the title of "The World Dressage Master", 9 nations were
represented and 19 of the best horses and riders in the world. No one could predict the
outcome of the exciting three days. Not even the judges. But it ended with a surprise - a
celebration of new young talents - two eleven year-old horses in the lead, that became the
highlights of the event – El Santo and Eremos del Castegno.
The judges themselves admitted they had a hard job, judging so many horses and riders of
such eminent quality. But after three days it was clear: the Munich show was dominated by the
Italian Valentina Truppa and her new fantastic mover Eremo Del Categno and Germany's
veteran Isabel Werth and her talented 11-year old El Santo.
The two were in the lead at the Grand Prix, where Isabell won with an almost perfect ride,
though some minor mistakes in the piaffe work, closely followed by Truppa's Eremo. The Grand
Prix Freestyle was again a close battle between the two, where Valentina (84.250) reached the
gold with just 0.200% before Werth (84.050). Both of them doing fabulous tests that were
watched by an ecstatic audience who enthusiasticly accompanied them and their horses to
their victories.
With the fantastic Munich ambience, Britain's Richard Davison was celebrated for his win in the
Grand Prix Special. He and his Artemis Hiscox were performing better than ever, with the
highlights being the piaffe and passage tour.
Danielle does it again - winner of the WDM Jiva Hill
Youth Challenge (CDI U25 )
The first two days had been dominated by Danielle Heijkoop (NED), who dazzled the audience
with fantastic dancer Siro. And as if two days weren't enough, she simply did it again. Danielle
and Siro cruised into first place of Jiva Hill Youth Challenge Final, scoring 77.200%. Veronique
Henchen (LUX) rode her fantastic Fontalero to a second place on 72.850%, before Victoria
Michalke (GER) and Pavarotti who took the third place on 70.050%.
Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfvén - Winner of the WDM Nürnberger Rider Ranking
The top Rider Ranking spot from all the previous WDM competitions: Palm Beach, Munich,
Falsterbo and Hickstead was secured by no other than the Swedish Olympian Tinne
Vilhelmson-Silfvén.
Tinne has had a fantastic year with her two top WDM horses, Favourit and Don Auriello, which
indeed payed of. Together with the title of being the "World Dressage Master" she also goes
home with 25.000 Euros. Tinne was very happy, and with a beaming smile on her face, she
rode the lap of honour to rapturous applause from the WDM audience. “I'm so happy and
pleased," she said. "WDM is a fantastic competition and it is truly an honor to earn this title".

Olympics, rode Augustin OLD to a new high of 81.085 per cent, eclipsing the previous best of
80.875 per cent with the 12-year-old Oldenburg stallion (August der Starke x Weinrubina x
Rohdiamant) that was recorded at this show a year ago.
Germany’s Dorothee Schneider and Diva Royal added their score of 78.250 per cent to the new
personal best category, surpassing the 77.025 per cent received at Frankfurt last December.
The personal best results for four of the combinations amounted to half of the starting lineup of eight
combinations in the Freestyle of Munich’s €100,000 World Dressage Masters staged at this 1972
Olympic equestrian venue.
Sweden’s Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfvén won the €25,000 (US$31,9000 Nürnberger Rider Award for
accumulating the most points on the WDM circuit of four competitions–Palm Beach, Munich,
Falsterbo, Sweden, and Hickstead, England.
Valentina, a former Young Rider star, wore her familiar uniform of the Carabinieri, a 200-year-old
police corps now a branch of Italy’s military, in riding the 11-year-old UNIRE gelding (Rohdiamant x
Weltgirl x Weltmeyer) to victory. The pair have been partners since the horse was a youngster and
began their CDI Grand Prix career together just over two years ago.
“I am so happy with my horse,” Valentina said after the ride. “At one point in the middle of the
program, he felt explosive and the audience clapped even more and I was just trying to keep him
concentrated, but he just kept going and I decided to give it a try to do the changes one-handed. At
home we always ride like this.”
They competed at last year’s European Championships and this year’s World Cup Final, their first
appearance at the annual global championship. She still competes Chablis, one of her partners in
European Young Rider Championship success.
The pair will ride as individuals at the London Games, the sole Italian representative as the nation
did not qualify a team and no other individual is on the qualifying reserve list.

Kür, dem A Finale der WDM (World Dressage Masters),
das am letzten Tag der Pferd International auf der
Münchner Olympiareitanlage über die Bühne ging, kaum
fassen. Rhythmisches Klatschen begleitete die 26-jährige
Italienerin, die in der Uniform der Carabinieri an den Start
geht, während des ganzen letzten Drittels ihres Rittes.
„Das sind die Emotionen, die wir wollen“, freute sich auch
Chef-Richterin Kathrina Wüst, schließlich sei es die Kür,
die den Dressursport an die breiten Massen herantrage.
Und die kamen auch zu Pferd International, über 60.000 Zuschauer zählten die
Veranstalter an den vier Tagen. Dressur, Springen, Westernreiten, Schauprogramm und
eine riesige Messe mit über 200 Ausstellern begeisterten die Besucher bei Traumwetter
von Donnerstag bis Sonntag.Weltklassereiter präsentierten sich in der NÜRNBERGER
Dressurarena, kämpften nicht nur um Sieg und Platzierungen in den Wertungsprüfungen
zur WDM, sondern auch um den Finalsieg in dieser teuersten Dressurserie der Welt. Und
der ging an eine Schwedin: Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfven, bereits fest gesetzt für die
Olympischen Spiele in London, hatte Favourit gesattelt und heimste am Ende die meisten
Punkte in der Gesamtwertung ein.Auch sonst konnten die Riemer Veranstalter mit
beinahe der gesamten Welt-Prominenz in der NÜRNBERGER Dressurarena aufwarten.
So fanden sich dort neben Isabell Werth unter anderem auch Anja Plönzke, Monica
Theodorescu, Victoria Max-Theurer, Dorothee Schneider und Nadine Capellmann ein.
Im Springparcours bot der Große Preis von Bayern, ein CSI**-Springen mit zwei
Umläufen, am Sonntag noch einmal ein absolutes Highlight. 50 Reiter hatten sich nach
zwei Qualifikationen auf die Starterlisten eintragen können, die 13 Besten erreichten
schließlich die zweite Runde. Und da war Spannung pur geboten: Zum Auftakt wurde der
bayerische Staatshengst Asti Spumante, unter Nationenpreisreiter Thomas Mühlbauer
erfolgreich auf Deutschen und Europameisterschaften, mit großer Zeremonie aus dem
Sport in die Zucht verabschiedet. Gleich danach zeigten dann die besten 13 Reiter aus
dem ersten Umlauf im Parcours, was faszinierender Springsport ist. Die schnellste
Nullrunde gelang Hans-Dieter Dreher, der auf dem Hannoveraner Zuchthengst Embassy II
in 51,37 Sekunden über die Hindernisse fegte und sich die Siegerprämie von 12.500
Euro holte. „Ich war letztes Jahr von dem Turnier so begeistert, dass für mich gleich klar
war, hier und nicht in Hamburg zu starten“, freute sich der Baden-Württemberger Dreher,
der den elfjährigen Embassy erst seit einem knappen Jahr unter dem Sattel hat. Der
Hengst stammt übrigens aus dem fränkischen Zuchthof Galmbacher.Auch Parcourschef
Werner Deeg sparte nicht mit Lob für das Münchner Megaturnier. „Die Reiter waren
sensationell, haben auf dem olympischen Rasen des großen Springplatzes so tollen Sport
gezeigt, dass wir uns für nächstes Jahr wirklich etwas überlegen müssen“, zog der
weltoberste Parcourschef-Ausbilder am Sonntag Abend Bilanz.

Im Kür-Finale der World Dressage Master-Tour siegten die Dritten des diesjährigen
Weltcup-Finales, die Italienerin Valentina Truppa mit Eremo del Castegno vor Isabell
Werth/El Santo und Victoria Max-Theurer mit Augustin OLD, die erneut die 80-ProzentMarke übertreffen konnte.
Valentina Truppa siegte auf ihrem elfjährigen Wallach mit einer neuen persönlichen
Rekordprozentzahl von 84,250 Prozent. Die 26jährige, dreifache Weltcup-Finalsiegerin der Jungen
Reiter hatte die mehrere Tausend Zuschauer, die das Dressurviereck am Sonntagnachmittag
säumten, zu begeisterten Szenenapplaus mit den nur mit einer Hand gerittenen Einer-Wechseln
und der Piaffe-Pirouette zu ihrem italienischen Song-Medley hingerissen. Als letzte Starterin ritt
Isabell Werth auf Angriff (Chefrichterin Katharina Wüst später in der Pressekonferenz: „Man konnte
förmlich das Messer zwischen Isabells Zähnen sehen!“), ritt mit viel Schwung vorwärts und die
Piaffen sollten ihr mit El Santo NRW noch besser gelingen als im Grand Prix, den das Paar
gewonnen hatte. Am Ende fehlten dennoch 0,2 Prozentpunkte zum Sieg und es wurde für die
fünffache Olympiasiegerin Platz zwei. Ihre 84,05 Prozent bedeuten jedoch, dass sie erneut auf
einen Platz im deutschen Olympiateam Anspruch erheben wird.
Victoria Max-Theurer: „Wir sind auf dem richtigen Weg“
Ihren glanzvollen Ritt aus dem Grand Prix,in dem sie ebenfalls Dritte geworden waren, konnte die
Oberösterreicherin Victoria Max-Theurer mit dem Oldenburger Hengst Augustin OLD auch in der
Kür wiederholen und erzielten mit 81,050 Prozent für eine Vorstellung, zu deren Höhepunkte die
Galopp-Pirouetten zählten, erneut Platz drei. Österreichs Dressur-Aushängeschild konnte sich mit
ihren vielen Erfolgen zudem den Titel der erfolgreichsten Dressurreiterin des Turniers sichern.
Victoria Max-Theurer, deren Gedanken und Vorbereitung sich nun ganz auf ihre Teilnahme bei den
Olympischen Spielen in London konzentrieren, war hochzufrieden, „Über 81 Prozent trotz ein
kleines Patzers zu erzielen, das zeigt, dass wir auf dem richtigen Weg sind. Ich habe heute erstmals
eine schwere Choreographie geritten und wir arbeiten auch an einer neuen Musik.“
Eine persönliche Rekordpunktzahl erzielte auch Dorothee Schneider mit Diva Royal und 78,25
Prozent für eine äußerst flüssige und harmonische Vorstellung. Die dreifache MannschaftsOlympiasiegerin Nadine Capellmann kam mit ihrem Olympiapferd von 2008 Elvis VA auf Platz fünf
(76,50) und zeigte sich sehr glücklich über ihre Vorstellung, in der bis auf die Piaffen alles sehr gut
gelingen wollte. Die mit 25.000 Euro von den Nürnberger Versicherungen ausgestatte
Sonderprämie für den Sieg in der Gesamtwertung der World Dressage Master-Tour sicherte sich
die Schwedin Tinne Vilhelmson-Silfven mit dem Gewinn des B-Finales, dem Grand Prix Special,
am Samstag.
Einzigartige Uno Donna Unique
Als heiße Anwärter für den Sieg im Finale des Nürnberger Burg-Pokals der sieben- bis
neunjährigen Dressurpferde im Dezember in Frankfurt präsentierten sich schon jetzt der in
Deutschland lebende Schwede Patrik Kittel und Uno Donna Unique, die ihren Namen – als
,Einzigartige‘ alle Ehre einlegte. Es scheint, als würde die mit viel Elasitizität, Ausdruck und
Schwung gehende achtjährige, dänische Don Schufro-Tochter keine Schwächen haben. Zeitweise
lag sie in den Noten bei 83 Prozent und siegte am Ende mit 78,098 Prozent vor der ebenfalls mit
viel Potenzial und Ausstrahlung ausgestatteten, westfälischen Diamond Hit-Tochter Diamond Girl
unter Nadine Capellmann (72,537). Platz drei (72,049) ging an die Dänin Kristine Möller und dem
ebenfalls neunjährigen, schwarzbraunen Hannoveraner Hengst Reve en noir.
Verwirrung um Gal & Minderhoud
Einige Verwirrung gab es um die frühzeitige Abreise von Edward Gal und Hans-Peter Minderhoud
aus München. Im Grand Prix der CDI3*-Tour hatten sich die beiden Niederländer an dritter
(Minderhoud mit Donna Silver), fünfter (Gal mit Glock’s Undercover) und sechster Stelle (Gal mit
Blue Hors Romanov) platziert und wären somit verpflichtend für den CDI3*-Grand Prix Special am
Freitag qualifiziert gewesen. Laut FEI-Reglement wird die Platzierung im Grand Prix aberkannt,
wenn der für den Special-Qualifizierte nicht in dieser Prüfung antritt, was vor einigen Jahren schon
Nadine Capellmann in Donaueschingen geschehen ist, die den Grand Prix nur als Vorbereitung für
das darauffolgende Sichtungsturnier nahm und dies auch offen zugab. Akzeptierte Ausnahme ist
die Vorlage eines ärztlichen Attestes, wovon aber in München nichts zu hören war. Die
Pferdepflegerin des Paares soll auf der Meldestelle erschienen sein und mitgeteilt haben, beide
Reiter hätten sich am Abend zuvor den Magen im Sushi-Restaurant verdorben und könnten nicht
mehr antreten. Dies wurde so akzeptiert. Andere Versionen, wonach die Abreise eine Reaktion auf
angebliche Pfiffe der Zuschauer am Abreiteplatz war oder mit dem Deckeinsatz von Romanov zu
tun habe, wurden zwar hinter vorgehaltener Hand kolportiert, sind aber reine Spekulation.
Kür-Finale der WDM Jiva Hill Youth Challenge
Das nur national ausgeschriebene Grand Prix-Kür-Finale der WDM Jiva Hill Youth Challenge, für
das sich die drei besten Starterinnen des Grand Prix der U25-Tour am Vortag qualifizieren konnte,
sah am Sonntagmittag die Niederländerin Danielle Heijkoop mit dem vom Garibaldi
abstammenden Rappwallach Siro mit 77,20 Prozent als Siegerin vor der Luxemburgerin Veronique
Henschen dem Hannoveraner Hengst Fontalero (72,85) und der Münchnerin Victoria Mischalke mit
Pavarotti (70,05). Alle drei Paare zeigten sehr gelungene Piaffe-Passage-Touren, bei denen sich
auch die etablierten Reiter durch aus etwas absehen konnten. Warum allerdings die Niederländerin
von zwei Richtern, darunter ihrem Landsmann Wim Ernes, mit 84 bzw. 83 Prozent in der
künstlerischen Note bewertet wurde, bleibt fraglich, denn vor allem in der Piaffe-Passage-Tour
wollte die Musikauswahl so gar nicht passen. Die von den niederländischen Reitern seit den KürErfolgen von Edward Gal so gerne benutzte Trance-Musik bzw. entsprechende Äquivalente mit
voranpeitschendem, elektronischem Sound aus dem Techno-Spektrum, die noch nicht einmal einen
richtigen Rhythmus und Takt besitzen und bestenfalls für den starken Trab geeignet sind, kamen
hier für Piaffe und Passage zum Einsatz, nur Musik und Lektionen hatten nichts miteinander zu tun –
eigentlich sollte die Choreographie ja laut Kür-Reglement die Musik interpretieren. Wie kann also
die künstlerische Note deutlich über achtzig Prozent liegen, wenn solche Grundlagen missachtet
werden?

(World Dressage Masters) -Italy’s Valentina Truppa rode Eremo del Castegno to victory in the
World Dressage Masters Exquis Grand Prix Freestyle in Munich, Germany this weekend. The pair
earned a score of 84.250 to edge out Isabell Werth and El Santo, Werth, of Germany, scored
84.050 to finish second. Third place went to the Austrian pair of Victoria Max-Theurer and Augustin
with a score of 81.050.

Masters
Was war das für eine Stimmung in der Kür bei der Pferd International, dem Finale der World
Dressage Masters. Schon in der Kür von Valentina Truppa klatschte das Publikum begeistert mit
und nach der Grußaufstellung waren weder Publikum noch Reiterin zu halten und ließen ihrer
Begeisterung freien Lauf. Zu Recht, denn das, was die 26-jährige Italienerin und ihr RohdiamantSohn Eremo del Castegno da ins Viereck zauberten war schon richtig klasse.
Das sahen auch die Richter so und gaben dem Paar 84,250 Prozent. Platz zwei ging an Isabell
Werth und El Santo NRW. Mit 84,050 Prozent lagen die bei den nur ganz knapp hinter der Siegerin.
Auf einem guten Weg befinden sich die beiden, denn: El Santo piaffiert wieder. Dritte wurde die
Österreicherin Victoria Max-Theurer mit Augustin OLD. Die beiden kamen auf 81,050 Prozent.

Italy’s top dressage combination of Valentina Truppa and Eremo del Castegna captured the World
Dressage Masters Grand Prix Freestyle on Sunday at the Pferd International in Munich, Germany.
With a result of 84.250% 26-year-old Valentina celebrated her third score higher than 80%. Runnerup was German dressage queen Isabell Werth aboard El Santo NRW reaching a score of
84.050%. This result was also the personal best Isabell and the 11-year-old gelding El Santo NRW.
A further excellent result was achieved by Austria’s Victoria Max-Theuer and her 12-year-old
Oldenburg stallion Augustin OLD with a new high of 81.085%.
A total of eight combinations started in the World Dressage Masters’ Freestyle competition which
was endowed with €100,000 of prize money.

Überraschender Sieg für Valentina Truppa

Im Grand Prix lag sie noch auf Rang vier hinter dem deutschen Dreigestirn Werth, Theodorescu und
Schneider ​ doch in der Kür rollte sie das Feld von hinten auf: die italienische Spitzenreiterin
Valentina Truppa im Sattel von Eremo del Castegno. Es war ihr erster Weltcup-Sieg in der
Westeuropa-Liga.
Die Klänge rissen mit: Als die 25-jährige Italienerin zu einem dynamischen Medley aus Volare, O
sole mio und Marina mit ihrem zehnjährigen Rohdiamant-Nachkommen Eremo durch die Halle
tanzte, waren die Richter geradezu in Geberlaune. Musik und Lektionen ergänzten sich meist auf
den Punkt, auch der Schwierigkeitsgrad der Kür war mit doppelten Pirouetten und vielen
interessanten Linien sowie einem harmonischen Wechsel zwischen Versammlung und Verstärkung
sehr ansprechend. Entsprechend hoch fiel die B-Note aus, viermal im hohen 8-er-Bereich, eine 7,8.
In der reiterlichen Umsetzung (Noten zwischen 7,45 und 7,9) wurde geahndet, dass der Wallach
besonders in den stark versammelten Lektionen wie der Piaffe oder den Pirouetten sichtbar von
der Reiterin unterstützt werden musste - und so ganz ​happy" wirkte d er vierbeinige Athlet auch nicht,
dafür schwitzte er am Hals zu viel. Dennoch, die Italienerin knackte um ein Haar die 80-ProzentHürde: Gesamtergebnis: 79,95 Prozent. Für Valentina Truppa, dessen Vater sich aufgrund der
nahenden Olympia-Qualifikationen vorübergehend (bis Ende März) aus dem internationalen
Richtergeschehen zurückgezogen hat, war der Sieg einer Weltcup-Prüfung der Westeuropa-Liga
Premiere. Zwar hatte sie bereits im Ma i 2011 in Lipica eine Weltcup-Qualifikation für sich
entschieden - diese aber mit ihrem Zweitpferd Chablis - aber Lipica ist eben doch noch ein
anderes ​Pflaster" als Frankfurt. Die 25-Jährige freute sich besonders, dass sie ausgerechnet in
Frankfurt derart punkten konnte - denn einige Jahre zuvor hatte sie drei Jahre in Folge (2005 bis
2007) das Weltcupfinale für Junge Reiter in Frankfurt für sich entscheiden können, das in diesem
Jahr von Sanneke Rothenberger klar dominiert und gewonnen wurde. Ihr dicht auf den Fersen war
Monica Theodorescu mit Whisper (78,2 %), bei der Truppa als Junge Reiterin viel trainiert hat.
Bereits im Grand Prix am Vortag hatte das Paar gute Leistungen gezeigt, die allerdings durch
Unstimmigkeiten in der Piaffe etwas geschmälert worden waren. Der 13-jährige Württemberger v.
Welt Hit O war lange ausgefallen, hatte sich 2010 bei den Deutschen Meisterschaften verletzt und
musste mehr als acht Monate pausieren. ​Wir haben dann eigentlich das ganze Jahr 2011
gebraucht, um ihn wieder topfit zu bekommen - und jetzt ist es soweit", freute sich die Reiterin,
deren Kür auf klassischen Motiven des italienischen Komponisten Gioachino Antonio Rossini
basiert und eine tolle Linienführung hat. Beispiel: Doppelte Pirouette bei A auf der Mittellinie,
danach Zick-Zack-Traversalen auf die Richter zu, vor den Richtern eine zweite Doppelpirouette. Die
Trabverstärkungen mit viel Ausdruck, schnurgerade Wechsel, jeder Übergang mit kaum sichtbarer
Hilfengebung. Schon in den letzten zwei Monaten zeichnete sich ab, dass mit dem Paar wieder zu
rechnen ist: Anfang Oktober waren sie in Mailand siegreich im Grand Prix, Ende Oktober beim
Weltcup in Lyon erreichten sie jeweils Rang drei in Grand Prix und Kür. Vor kurzem in Stuttgart
brillierten sie mit zwei zweiten Plätzen in Grand Prix und Special, in Frankfurt bestätigte sich die
konstante Leistung erneut. Das Bundestrainerduo Schmezer/Hilberath fühlte sich damit in ihrer
Entscheidung bestätigt, Theodorescu nach dem Stuttgarter Erfolg wieder in den A-Kader zu
berufen. ​D as bedeutet allerdings auch, dass ich keine weiteren Weltcupturniere mehr reiten werde",
erklärte Theodorescu, deren Hoffnung es jetzt natürlich sein muss, einen Teamplatz für die
olympischen Spiele in London im Juli 2012 zu ergattern.
Rang drei mit 77,025 Prozent belegte Lokalmatadorin Dorothee Schneider auf Diva Royal, die vom
Publikum frenetisch gefeiert wurde und sich nach ihrer Kür zu klassisch-poppigen Klängen aus der
Filmmusik ​The Black Swan" mit einem Handkuss bei den Zuschauern bedankte. Das Titelmotiv des
schwarzen Schwans passt perfekt zu der hochbeinigen, eleganten Stute, die im August dieses
Jahres Siegerin des Tesch Inkasso Cups war. Piaffe und Passage dominierten den ersten Teil der
Kür, in verschiedensten Variationen und Zusammenhängen, das Timing mit der Musik passte auch
in der Galopptour durchgängig. ​Ich hatte kaum Zeit, die Kür zu üben, da kann man nur zufrieden
sein", strahlte die Ausbilderin über ihren Erfolg. Ob sich der erfolgreiche Weltcup-Auftakt für
Dorothee Schneider fortsetzt und sie die Stute auch Mitte Februar bei der zweiten deutschen
Weltcup-Qualifikation in Neumünster zeigen wird, ist noch ungewiss, denn Diva Royal gehört
Schneiders erfolgreicher Schülerin Stella Charlott Roth - das Paar gewann u.a. Mannschaftsgold
bei der EM der Jungen Reiter 2010 und war hoch erfolgreich im Piaff Förderpreis. ​Wir werden uns
über den Jahreswechsel überlegen, wie es weitergeht", sagte Schneider.
Frankfurt war die fünfte von insgesamt neun Weltcup-Stationen der Westeuropa-Liga - und das zum
letzten Mal. Im kommenden Jahr wird es neben Neumünster aber weiterhin eine zweite deutsche
Weltcupstation geben, und zwar im Rahmen der Stuttgart German Masters. Den derzeitige
Zwischenstand der Westeuropa-Liga führt der Schwede Patrick Kittel an, der sich in Frankfurt im
Sattel von Toy Story, einem elfjährigen Wallach v. Come Back II Rang fünf im Grand Prix und Rang
vier in der Kür sicherte.

Sieg in der FEI Grand Prix Kür, dem A Finale der WDM (World Dressage Masters), das am letzten
Tag der Pferd International auf der Münchner Olympiareitanlage über die Bühne ging, kaum fassen.
Rhythmisches Klatschen begleitete die 26-jährige Italienerin, die in der Uniform der Carabinieri an
den Start geht, während des ganzen letzten Drittels ihres Rittes.

München - Erneut verwandelte sich die Olympia-Reitanlage in München-Riem zum Mekka des
Pferdesports - mit vielen der größten Stars der Szene, wie zum Beispiel Nadine Capellmann,
Edward Gal, Christoph Koschel, Victoria Max-Theurer, Hans Peter Minderhoud, Anja Plönzke,
Dorothee Schneider, Monica Theodorescu, Valentina Truppa und Isabell Werth. Mehr als 60.000
Besucher sorgten an den vier Veranstaltungstagen Bayerns größter Pferdesportvera nstaltung für
den passenden Rahmen. Im Blickpunkt des sportlichen Interesses stand der Abschluss des World
Dressage Masters in der NÜRNBERGER Dressur-Arena.
Den Sieg in der Grand Prix Kür sicherte sich die Italienerin Valentina Truppa mit dem elfjährigen
Wallach Eremo del Castegno und einer neuen persönlichen Bestleistung von 84,250 %. Zweite
wurden mit 0,2 Prozentpunkten weniger Isabel Werth und El Santo NRW. Komplettiert wurde das
Podium von Victoria Max-Theurer. Die Österreicherin erreichte mit dem Oldenburger Hengst
Augustin OLD 81,050 %
Zu den traditionellen Höhepunkten im Dressurviereck gehört eine Qualifikation zum NÜRNBERGER
BURG-POKAL. Hier gab eine Premiere, denn mit Patrik Kittel qualifizierte sich erstmals ein
Schwede für das prestigeträchtige Finale in der Frankfurter Festhalle. Mit seiner 8jährigen Stute
Uno Donna Unique (Don Schufro x Falkland) zeigte er eine Vorstellung auf höchstem Niveau. Mit
insgesamt 78,098 Prozent ritt er der Konkurrenz davon. Bereits tags zuvor hatte er überlegen die

Sichtlich zufrieden zeigte sich auch Hans Peter Schmidt, Aufsichtsratsvorsitzender der
NÜRNBERGER Versicherungsgruppe: „München hat sich zur idealen Plattform für Pferdesport der
Extraklasse entwickelt. Pferd International wird von den besten Reitern der Welt für die Qualität der
Anlage und der Wettkämpfe hoch gelobt.“ Angelehnt auf die aktuelle Diskussion über die
Ausbildung von Pferden machte Hans-Peter Schmidt klar: „Das Training muss individuell auf die
Bedürfnisse eines jeden einzelnen Pferdes eingehen. Es muss aber vor allen Dingen artgerecht
sein.“ Genau der gleichen Auffassung ist die mehrmalige Olympiasiegerin Isabell Werth: „Ich
stimme mein Training auf jedes meiner Pferde ab: El Santo hat ein komplett anderes
Trainingsprogramm als Satchmo“, so die Pferdefrau aus Rheinberg.
Im Rahmen eines Pressegesprächs verwies Hans-Peter Schmidt auf die Normen der berühmten
H.Dv.12 (He eresdienstvorschrift von 1912), deren Grundprinzipien nach wie vor gültig seien. Für
den Präsidenten des Bayerischen Reit- und Fahrverbands, der zugleich als Präsidiumsmitglied der
Deutschen Reiterlichen Vereinigung fungiert, steht die pferdegerechte Ausbildung an oberster
Stelle: „Was wir als Zuschauer auf dem Abreiteplatz und in der Prüfung sehen möchten, ist ein
Pferd, das die Lektionen gelöst absolviert. Deshalb fußt das Engagement der NÜRNBERGER auf
dem Grundsatz ’Reiten heißt Partner sein’. Nur im vertrauensvollen Miteinander sind
Höchstleistungen dauerhaft erreichbar.“
Im Finale des NÜRNBERGER BURG-POKALs wird seit 1997 ein Sonderpreis für Sitz und
Einwirkung verliehen. Darüber hinaus wird die am besten absolvierte Lektion „Rückwärtsrichten“
am Ende der Prüfung, die die Losgelassenheit des Pferdes wiedergibt, ebenfalls mit einer
Auszeichnung gewürdigt.

Auch ohne Matthias Rath und Totilas, die im vergangenen Jahr ihr
erstes gemeinsames Turnier in München-Riem bestritten hatten und
in diesem Jahr kurzfristig absagten, ebenso wie Ulla Salzgeber mit
Herzruf’s Erbe, erlebte die Veranstaltung Dressursport auf absoluten
Weltklasse-Niveau. Die Italienerin Valentina Truppa und der elfjährige
Wallach Eremo del Castegno siegten mit einer neuen persönlichen
Rekordprozentzahl von 84,250 Prozent. Die 26jährige, dreifache
Weltcup-Finalsiegerin der Jungen Reiter hatte die Tausenden
Zuschauer, die das Dressurviereck säumten, zu begeisterten
Szenenapplaus während ihres Rittes hingerissen.
Als letzte Starterin setzte Isabell Werth alles auf eine Karte und die
Piaffen sollten ihr mit El Santo NRW noch besser gelingen als im
Grand Prix, den das Paar gewonnen hatte. Am Ende fehlten 0,2
Prozentpunkte zum Sieg und es wurde für die fünffache Olympiasiegerin Platz zwei. Ihre 84,05
Prozent bedeuten jedoch, dass sie erneut auf einen Platz im deutschen Olympiateam Anspruch
erheben wird.
Dritte wurde die Österreicherin Victoria Max-Theurer mit dem Oldenburger Hengst Augustin OLD
(81,050), die außerdem als erfolgreichste Dressurreiterin des Turniers geehrt wurde. Eine
persönliche Rekordpunktzahl erzielte auch Dorothee Schneider mit Diva Royal und 78,25 Prozent
für eine äußerst flüssige und harmonische Vorstellung. Die dreifache Mannschafts-Olympiasiegerin
Nadine Capellmann kam mit ihrem Olympiapferd von 2008, Elvis VA, auf Platz fünf (76,50) und
zeigte sich sehr glücklich über ihre Vorstellung, in der bis auf die Piaffen alles sehr gut gelingen
wollte.
Die Gesamtwertung der World Dressage Master-Tour sicherte sich die Schwedin Tinne
Vilhelmson-Silfven mit ihrem Sieg im B-Finale, dem Grand Prix Special, am Samstag. Dafür gab
es 25.000 Euro.

the 42-year-old rider and mother
won her frIst FEI World CUpTM
Dressage title showing Fabienne,
which she followed with a second
win 15 years later showing
'Hannes'. With her usual
competitive attitude she made
her entzy into the arena and
missed nothing to express her
goal. Riding half passes is one of
her strenghts and the music
accompanied the cheerful image
of the pair. The only weaknesses
stilI were the piaffes, however the
score of 79% set the target and
gave the competition a boast!

The bloodrule

For Poland's Katarzyna Milczarek
there was deep disappointment.
however, when Chair Judge Mr.
Fouarge stopped the test to tell her
that her horse had blood on its
flank, and was therefore eliminated.
The Dutch judge explained
afterwards that it is always sad to
eliminate somebody, but it is in the
rules. The skin of grey horses is
more thin and sensitive to little
problems caused by the spurs than
skins of other coIours, Fouarge
explained. The 'blood rule' is stilI
under discussion with the FEI due to
the elimination of Cornelissen at
the 2010 WEG in Kentucky, when
blood occurred at Parzival's mouth

new chances to restart might occur.

countdown dock reached zero and
the pair had not yet entered the
arena, a buzz erupted among the
spectators! Both American riders
were subsequently penalised with
the deduction of aH-important
points, 14 in totaI. Quite surprising
and not really professional for
competitors in this league!
Freestyle
FortunateIy, after the devastating
start of the FinaI, the level of the
Freestyle next day was totally

Langehanenberg turned the
competition upside down with a
fabulous ride. Her 12-year-old
stal1ion, the former World
Champion young horses Damon
Hill, won the Reem Aera FEI World
CUpTM Oressage Western European
League qualifier at Neumunster
(GER) and was runner·up in
Amsterdam (NEO). Of remarkable
diffieulty was the well ridden
transition from the elevated
upward passage into the stretched
extended walk. The stunningly
good-Iooking horse was on the
button all the way, with lovely
piaffe, passage and pirouettes,
racking up high scores far a strong
lead with a personal best mark of
85.214! Helen Langehanenberg was
quite happy with her performance,
although she sadly missed her
teamcoach Holger Schmezer,
whom she believed to be her
