Die Gründung der AUTEV AG im Jahr 2001 basiert auf
einem Zusammenschluss mehrerer Unternehmen. Die
AUTEV AG implementierte zunächst eigene Strukturen –
einhergehend mit einer wachstumsorien­tierten
operativen Ausrichtung. Die Konzentration auf die
­innovativen und ertragsstarken Geschäftsfelder
­Industrietechnologie und Umwelttechnik ermöglichte so die Investition in ein neues Marktsegment
im Bereich der effizienten LED-Beleuchtungssysteme.
Ab 2008 flossen erhebliche Finanzmittel in die Eigenentwicklung einer LED-Straßenleuchte. Die AuLED
war geboren und der Anfang einer Erfolgsstory
­geschrieben. Die LED-Lichttechnologie ist seitdem
dritte starke Kraft im operativen Geschäft.

AUTEV AG was founded in 2001 based on a merger
of several companies. AUTEV AG first created its own
structures, accompanying a growth-oriented operational alignment. Concentration on the innovative
and profitable business areas of Industrial Technology
and Environmental Technology permitted investments
in a new market segment of efficient LED lighting
systems. Since 2008, we have invested considerable
funds in developing our own LED streetlight. The
AuLED was born, and the start of a success story was
begun. Since then, LED Lighting Technology has been
the third powerful pillar of our business operations.

The idea of the LED
1906 ging einem gewissen Henry Joseph Round ein
Licht auf: das LED-Licht. Beim Experimentieren mit
Siliziumkarbid hatte er den Effekt der Elektrolumineszenz entdeckt. Die Leuchtkraft der lichtemittierenden
Diode war revolutionär. Doch dann verschwand die
LED Jahrzehnte wieder in der Dunkelheit der
­Geschichte, bis die Wissenschaft in den 1950erJahren intensiv mit der Erforschung von Dioden und
Halbleitern begann.
1964 setzte IBM dann erstmals GaAsP-LEDs in
Schaltkreisen eines Mainframe-Computers ein. Jetzt
endlich erkannte auch die Industrie die überzeugenden Vorteile einer LED gegenüber herkömmlicher
Beleuchtungstechnologie: weniger Strom – mehr
Lichtausbeute – längere Lebensdauer. Eine rasend
schnelle Entwicklung setzte ein, die so nur mit der
Entwicklung von Computern vergleichbar ist. Heute
sprechen wir bereits von der 5. Generation der LEDTechnologie.

Henry Joseph Round: the LED light. While experimenting with silicon carbide, he discovered the effect
of electroluminescence. The luminosity of the light
emitting diode was revolutionary. But then the LED
vanished again into the darkness of history for decades – until science began to research diodes and
semiconductors intensively in the 1950s.
In 1964, IBM used GaAsP LEDs for the first time in
the circuits of a mainframe computer. Now industry,
too, had finally recognized the impressive advantages
of LEDs over conventional lighting technology: less
electricity – more light output – longer lasting than
other sources of light. The development that began
in this field was so rapid that it can only be compared
to that of the computer. Today, we can already talk
about the fifth generation of LED technology.

Technisch betrachtet, ist die LED eine Diode aus
Halbleitermaterial, die Licht emittiert, wenn elek­
trischer Strom durch sie hindurchgeleitet wird. ­Diese
Technologie der Lichterzeugung unterscheidet sich
grund­legend von der Technologie herkömmlicher
Glüh- oder Leuchtstofflampen. Bis Anfang der
1990er-Jahre gab es LEDs nur in Rot, Gelb oder Grün.
Darauf folgte die blaue LED. Für weiß leuchtende
LEDs wurde eine Technik entwickelt, bei der das
Licht einer blauen LED durch spezielle, sehr effiziente
Phosphor-Codierungsprozesse geleitet wird. Diese
Technologie machte die revolutionäre Entwicklung
in der LED-Beleuchtungstechnik erst möglich und
brachte sie so richtig in Schwung.
Inconspicuous – but with a bright future
Technically speaking, the LED is a diode made of
semiconductor material that emits light when electric
current flows through it. This technology of light
­generation differs fundamentally from the tech­
nology of conventional incandescent or fluorescent
lamps. Until the beginning of the 1990s, LEDs existed
only in red, yellow, and green. Then a blue LED
followed. For white LEDs, a technology had to be
­developed in which the light of a blue LED was
­guided through special, very efficient phosphoruscoding processes. This technology made the revolutionary development in LED lighting technology
possible for the first time and gave it real momentum.

Die AuLED ist nicht einfach nur eine Leuchte: sie
bündelt ein ganzes Lichtkonzept. Sie überzeugt durch
höhere Lichtleistung bei gleichzeitiger Senkung der
Energiekosten. Sie wird sowohl bei der Objekt- und
Raumbeleuchtung als auch zur Beleuchtung von
­Straßen, Gebäuden und Industrieanlagen genutzt.
Das Grundprinzip ist einleuchtend: Während
­herkömmliche Straßenlampen ihr Licht in alle Richtungen abgeben, strahlen die LED-Systeme der
AuLED ohne jeglichen Reflexionsverlust nach unten
in Richtung Boden. Beziehungsweise dahin, wo das
Licht wirklich gebraucht wird.
Doch die AuLED kann noch mehr: Durch die Optimierung jeder einzelnen Komponente ergibt sich
eine Gesamtlösung, bei der – verglichen mit anderen
Produkten – deutlich weniger Energie verbraucht
wird. Herkömmliche Leuchten stellt die AuLED klar
in den Schatten. Sorgt sie doch für mehr Licht­
ausbeute bei weniger Stromverbrauch und damit
letztendlich für eine Entlastung der Umwelt. Als LEDStraßenleuchte wurde sie seit ihrer Markteinführung
2009 schon mit vielen Innovationspreisen bedacht.
Eine besondere Bestätigung: die Auszeichnung des
Bundesumweltministeriums. Die AuLED steht somit
auch hochoffiziell für einen vorbildlichen Umgang
mit wertvoller Energie – ein typisches AUTEV-Produkt
Made in Germany.
The AuLED is not just a light; it incorporates a total light
concept. Its higher illumination performance – with
a simultaneous reduction in energy costs – is compelling. It is used for object and room illumination as
well as for lighting streets, buildings and i­ndustrial
plants. Even the basic principle is illuminating: while
­conventional streetlights emit light in all d
­ irections,
the AuLED LED systems beam down toward the
ground – or where the light is really needed – with
no reflection loss.
But the AuLED can do even more. Optimization of
every single component produces a total solution
in which significantly less energy is used compared
to other products. The AuLED clearly outshines
conventional lamps. It ensures more light output
with less electricity consumption thus ultimately
­reduces the burden on the environment. As an LED
streetlight, it has received many innovation prizes
since its market launch in 2009. The award from the
German Federal Environment Ministry was a special
honor. AuLED thus officially stands for exemplary
handling of valuable energy – a typical AUTEV
­product Made in Germany.

bekannten LED-Forschers Roland Haitz bringt auf
den Punkt, welches Potenzial in der LED-Technologie
steckt. „Ich bin überzeugt, dass LEDs die Beleuchtung revolutionieren und zur dominanten Lichtquelle
werden”, konstatiert Haitz.
Soweit der Blick in die Zukunft. In der Gegenwart
leistet die AUTEV AG schon heute einen erheb­
lichen Beitrag zum Klimaschutz. Mit der i­nnovativen
AuLED-Straßenleuchte lassen sich sofort ohne
Leistungs­reduktionen mindestens 40 Prozent Energieeinsparung erzielen. Kundenforderungen nach
leistungsstarker, effizienter Beleuchtung werden
dabei ohne Einschränkung erfüllt. Bei Einsatz intelli­
genter Regelungstechnik zum stufenlosen Dimmen
in späten Nachtstunden wird sogar ein Einsparpotenzial von über 60 Prozent gegenüber herkömm­
licher Technik erreicht. Die Höhe der zu realisierenden
CO2-Einsparung resultiert dabei direkt aus der eingesparten Energiemenge. Nicht gespart wird dagegen
bei der Lebensdauer; länger als bei herkömmlichen
Produkten führt sie bei der AuLED zu einer Ver­
ringerung der Wartungskosten.
“With LEDs, by 2020 we could achieve energy s­ avings
of 0.6 terawatt years* in the USA alone; that is
­equivalent to 113 billion euros or 600 million tons
of black coal.” This statement of the renowned LED
researcher Roland Haitz sums up what potential lies
in LED technology. “I am convinced that LEDs will
revolutionize lighting and become the dominant light
source,” Haitz confirms.
That was a look into the future. In the present,
­AUTEV AG is already making a considerable contri­
bution to climate protection. The innovative AuLED
streetlight can achieve energy savings of at least 40
percent immediately without reducing ­performance.
They meet customer demands for high-performance,
efficient lighting without a doubt. With the use
of ­intelligent control tech­nology for continuously
­variable dimming in the late night hours, potential
savings of more than 60 percent over c­ onventional
technology are achieved. The amount of CO2
savings that can be achieved is directly connected
to the reduction in energy use. One area that is not
reduced is life span; longer than that of conventional products, use of AuLED lights results in lower
maintenance costs.

Die AuLED ist nicht nur innovatives Lichtkonzept zur
tageslichtähnlichen Beleuchtung von Straßen. Sie ist
vor allem die Umsetzung einer vorbildlichen Idee. Bei
dieser Idee standen für die AUTEV-Ingenieure möglichst hohe Lichtwerte bei geringem Energieverbrauch
im Mittelpunkt. Dieser Grundgedanke war ­gleichsam
der Beginn einer ganz neuen Beleuchtungsära. Er
führte schließlich von der energieeffizienten Straßen­
leuchte zu weiteren Lösungen. Denn in eine AuLED
werden nicht nur die führenden Technologie­
komponenten eingebaut, sondern auch modulare

AuLED is not just an innovative light concept for
light-as-day illumination of streets. Above all, it is
the implementation of an exemplary idea. For this
idea, the AUTEV engineers focused on the highest
possible light values with low energy consumption. In
some respects, this basic thought was the start of an
entirely new era in lighting. It ultimately spread from
the energy-efficient streetlight to other solutions. For

Licht in der Dunkelheit bedeutet dem Menschen
vor allem eines: Sicherheit. Darüber hinaus dient
Licht ganz praktisch der Orientierung und schafft
zudem s­ pezielle Atmosphären. Seit dem ersten
Einsatz elektri­scher Straßenbeleuchtung vor 1900
erschien im Jahr 2009 erstmals mit der AuLED Road
wieder eine durch und durch technisch wie optisch
innovative Straßenleuchte im Stadtbild.

station or airport, in a parking lot or garage – light
in the darkness means one thing a­ bove all else people: safety. In addition, light is very practical in that
it helps with ­orientation, but it can also be used to
create special atmos­pheres. For the first time since

Unser Arbeitsleben wird in vielen Bereichen von
­einem 24-Stunden-Rhythmus bestimmt. Immer mehr
Branchen sind rund um die Uhr aktiv. Normgerechte,
tageslichtähnliche AuLED-Beleuchtung sorgt hier
dafür, dass die Produktion auch nachts problemlos weiterläuft und eine Effizienzsteigerung in den
Produk­tionsprozessen möglich wird. Mit energetisch
optimierten Lichtkonzepten zu kostenoptimierten
Beleuchtungslösungen, lautet die Erfolgsformel.
­Unterm Strich sind Energiekosten-Einsparungen von
mindestens 40 Prozent mit dem Einsatz der AuLED
Industry ohne Einschränkungen möglich.
Zudem ermöglicht das intelligente Lichtmanagement
einer AuLED-Leuchte die Programmierung von individuellen Lichtszenarien, mit dem sich weitere Effekte
erzielen und Einsparpotenziale generieren lassen.

In many areas, our work life is determined by a 24hour rhythm. More and more industries are active
around the clock. Standard-conforming, light-as-day
AuLED lighting ensures that production can ­continue
without difficulty at night and can even improve
efficiency in the production process. With energyoptimized light concepts, cost-optimized lighting
solutions offer a formula for success. The bottom
line is that energy cost savings of at least 40 ­percent
are possible without restrictions when AuLED Insustry

Moreover, the intelligent light management of an
AULED light permits the programming of ­individual
light scenarios with which further effects can be

Licht und Beleuchtung gilt als die 4. Dimension der

daher entsprechende Förderprogramme aufgelegt.

Rising energy costs and the goal of reducing greenhouse gases have moved industry and commerce,
communities, and governmental authorities to ­invest
in innovative light technology. The fact that the desire
for energy-efficient lighting requires investments is
clear. The German federal and state governments
have therefore established corresponding support

Haushaltsmittel – die Möglichkeit des Contracting an.
In a long-term partnership, a company is not

planning, economic efficiency, and return-on-investment calculations. For it is precisely these analyses
that make the potential of the investments transparent.
Moreover, we offer our customers the possibility of

Grundprinzip. Die Idee hatte der Schotte James Watt
vor über 250 Jahren. Nach diesem Finanzierungsmodell bot er interessierten Kunden seine Dampfmaschine an – und zwar kostenlos. Alles, was er
verlangte, war, dass die Betreiber ihm ein Drittel des
Geldes gaben, das sie mit der neuen Technik sparten.

Contracting works according to a proven principle.
The Scotsman James Watt had this idea over 250 years
ago. He offered his steam-driven machines to
­interested customers using this financing model free
of charge. All that he required was that the operators
give him one-third of the money that they saved with
the new technology. Even today, this principle makes
a contribution in solving possible financing problems.
