erlach is Austria’s southernmost town and has been renowned
for its gunsmithing artisans for centuries.
With 8 000 inhabitants, this capital of the Rosental Valley offers

foothills of the Karawanken mountain range and has everything

množicnega turizma.
Obdan z borovimi gozdovi ob izteku Karavank ima ta zgodovinski kraj vse, kar je potrebno za dobro industrijsko lokacijo.

The town of Ferlach has gained a global
reputation for hunting weapons over centuries. The first Seal of Craftsmanship of
the Ferlach gunsmith trade was created in
1620. At first, manufacturing focused on
weapons for warfare – the shift towards
hunting weapons did not take place until
the second half o10th century.
Nei secoli Ferlach si è guadagnata la
fama mondiale di città industriale e
sede produttiva di armi da caccia di
alta qualità. Nel 1620 fu creato il primo
sigillo della corporazione degli armaioli

also reflected in the gunsmithing and

Nachdem zuerst ausschließlich Kriegswaffen produziert

Der traditionsreichen Geschichte wurde dazu das
Büchsenmacher- und Jagdmuseum im Schloss Ferlach
gewidmet.
Im März 2010 wurde das Ferlacher Büchsenmacherhandwerk als immaterielles Kulturerbe durch die UNESCO ausgezeichnet und darf sich nun als schützenswertes nationales UNESCO-Kulturerbe bezeichnen.

the hamlet of “Vörelach”. From 1850 until 1910, the municipality was called Oberferlach, but as it was frequently confused

nailsmithing in the 15th century, its gunsmiths first achieved
world fame in the 16th century – and this trade still dominates
the appearance of the town today.
In 1930, Ferlach was given town status, not only to mark the anniversary of the Carinthian referendum, but also to honour the
great economic importance of Ferlach. On the occasion of the
40th anniversary of the Carinthian referendum, the town was
granted the right to bear a coat of arms. In 1964, the municipality of Unterferlach was incorporated into the town, followed by
Windisch Bleiberg in 1973.

erlach viene citata per la prima volta nell’anno 1246 come
borgo dal nome “Vörelach”. Dal 1850 al 1910 prende il nome
di Comune Oberferlach. Poiché viene spesso confusa con il
comune di Markt Obervellach, viene fatta richiesta di modificare il nome in Ferlach. Il nome di Ferlach diventa rinomato a
livello mondiale a partire dalla nascita delle botteghe di fabbri
e chiodai nel XV secolo e dal XVI secolo con le prime botteghe di
armaioli che ancora oggi caratterizzano l’immagine della città.
Oltre all’occasione della commemorazione del referendum
popolare della Carinzia, altro motivo per cui Ferlach acquisisce
lo status di comune cittadino nell’anno 1930 è anche la sua
grande importanza economica. In occasione del 40° anniversario del referendum popolare della Carinzia viene conferito alla
città il diritto di portare lo stemma. Nel 1964 viene incorporato il
Comune di Unterferlach e nel 1973 anche il Comune di Windisch
Bleiberg.

EINE STADT ENTSTEHT

rve navedbe Borovelj (avstrijsko Ferlach) segajo v leto 1246,
ko so bile v zgodovinskih listinah prvic izpricane kot zaselek
Vörelach. Med letoma 1850 in 1910 se je obcina imenovala
Oberferlach (slo. Zgornje Borovlje). Zaradi pogostih zamenjav s
trgom Obervellach je obcina zaprosila za spremembo imena v
Ferlach (slo. Borovlje).
Iz kovacij, ki so v 15. stoletju izdelovale žice in žeblje, se je v 16.
stoletju zacela razvijati puškarska obrt, ki še danes kroji podobo
mesta in je Borovlje postavila na svetovni zemljevid.
Povod za to, da so bile Borovlje leta 1930 povzdignjene v mesto,
je bil poleg obletnice koroškega plebiscita njihov veliki gospodarski pomen. Pravica do lastnega grba je bila podeljena ob 40.

hieß die Gemeinde Oberferlach. Nach häufigen Verwechslungen mit dem Markt Obervellach beantragte
die Gemeinde die Änderung des Namens auf Ferlach.
Ausgehend vom Aufbau der Draht- und Nagelschmieden im 15. Jahrhundert über das im 16. Jahrhundert
beginnende Büchsenmachergewerbe, das bis heute
das Stadtbild prägt, erlangte der Name Ferlach Weltruf.
Anlass zur Stadterhebung im Jahr 1930 war neben der
Wiederkehr des Tages der Kärntner Volksabstimmung,
die große wirtschaftliche Bedeutung Ferlachs.
Die Berechtigung zur Führung eines Wappens wurde
aus Anlass der 40-jährigen Wiederkehr der Kärntner
Volksabstimmung verliehen. 1964 folgte die Eingemeindung der Gemeinde Unterferlach und 1973 der
Gemeinde Windisch Bleiberg.

recommended during the summer months. In winter, the
ice-skating rink, the curling rink, the ski lifts and cross-country
trails in the Bodental beckon.

The cycling paths R1 and R7 along the Drau River are particularly beautiful. The Tscheppa gorge with its rope-climbing park is
an absolute natural gem, and the “Meerauge” glacier pond and
the fairy-tale land in the Bodental make great family destinations. The technology and transport museum “Historama” and
the gunsmithing museum give visitors an engrossing insight into
times long gone, while the Carnica bee-keeping museum offers
fascinating facts about the bee-keeping tradition of the region.
A wealth of sports facilities and a multi-faceted range of clubs
and societies make Austria’s southernmost town a vibrant location with plenty of options for leisure and entertainment.

Meravigliose sono anche le piste ciclabili come quella lungo
la Drava (R1) e la Radweg (R7). Un particolare gioiello della
natura è la gola di Tscheppaschlucht con il parco avventura per
il tarzaning, oltre al laghetto Meerauge (lett.: occhio del mare)
dalle acque color turchese e i verdi pascoli Märchenwiese (lett.:
prato delle fiabe) nella valle Bodental. Il Museo della tecnica e
dei veicoli “Historama” e il Museo degli armaioli consentono ai
visitatori di fare un tuffo nel passato. Il Museo didattico delle
api carniche offre interessanti informazioni sulla tradizione dell’apicoltura nella regione. Con numerose offerte sportive e una
vivace vita associativa, la cittadina più meridionale dell’Austria
offre svariate possibilità di intrattenimento.

in kolesarska pot R7. Prav poseben naravni biser so soteska
Cepa s pustolovskim parkom, jezero Morsko oko (avstrijsko
Meerauge) in pravljicni travnik v dolini Poden. V muzeju tehnike in vozil Historama ter v puškarskem muzeju se obiskovalci
vrnejo v stare case, cebelarski muzej Carnica pa vam predstavi
cebelarsko tradicijo v regiji. To najjužnejše mesto v Avstriji ponuja številne možnosti za razvedrilo v okviru športnih dejavnosti in

eben Segelfliegen, Wandern, Bergsteigen, Reiten
und Klettern im Sommer, ist im Winter mit dem
Eislaufplatz, der Eisstockanlage und den Skiliften im
Bodental sowie der Langlaufloipe für ausreichend
Sport und Freizeitbeschäftigung gesorgt.
Wunderschöne Fahrradstrecken sind der Drauradweg
R1 und der Radweg R7. Ein besonderes Naturjuwel sind
die Tscheppaschlucht mit dem Waldseilpark sowie das
Meerauge und die Märchenwiese im Bodental.
Im Technik- und Fahrzeugmuseum „Historama“ und im
Büchsenmachermuseum werden Besucher in alte
Zeiten zurückversetzt. Das Carnica-Bienenerlebnismuseum informiert über die Imkertradition der Region.

Vereinsleben bietet die südlichste Stadt Österreichs

erlach è una cittadina molto sportiva. Le numerose associazioni sportive e le eccellenti infrastrutture offrono infinte possibilità per praticare attività sportive in città e nei dintorni. Tra
associazioni di sci di fondo, associazioni ginniche e club sportivi,
l’offerta spazia dal training professionale fino alla vita gregale.
In estate la regione carnica della Rosental invita a fare escursioni, gite in bicicletta e scalate. Ma anche in inverno gli appassionati degli sport invernali non conoscono la noia a Ferlach. La
vicina valle Bodental è ideale per lo sci alpino, lo sci di fondo o
lunghe escursioni con le ciaspole e tour sci alpinistici. Un’altra
attività invernale molto apprezzata nella regione è il curling. Le
associazioni organizzano di continuo tornei e promuovono la
vita gregale nella regione.

ne bo dolgcas. Bližnje smucarsko središce v dolini Poden vabi
k smucanju, teku na smuceh ali na dolge pohode v snegu in
smucarske ture. Enako priljubljena zimska zaposlitev v regiji je
tudi kegljanje na ledu. Društva redno organizirajo turnirje in s
tem spodbujajo družabno življenje v regiji.

Angebot reicht von professionellem Training bis hin
zum geselligen Miteinander.
Im Sommer lädt die Carnica-Region Rosental zum
Wandern, Radfahren und Klettern. Doch auch im Winter
wird Sportbegeisterten in Ferlach nicht langweilig.
Das nahegelegene Bodental eignet sich zum Skifahren,
Langlaufen oder ausgedehnten Schneeschuhwanderungen und Schitouren. Eine ebenso beliebte Winterbetätigung in der Region ist der Eisstocksport.
Die Vereine organisieren laufend Turniere und fördern
das gesellschaftliche Leben in der Region.
