Morsas - Shear-Zone Gold
ABOUT
THE
PROJECT
4
Morsas - Shear-Zone Gold
Large property: > 30,000 Ha
100% owned
Small 3rd party mining claims
on some portions to southwest
Underlying 2% NSR royalty on
precious metals production + 1% NSR
royalty on base metals production
ABOUT
THE
PROJECT
Buy-back of 50% of royalty for
C$5M any time up to 5 years
from start of production
Located close to the Pan American Highway,
with very easy project access
Centred 55 km SW of the mining town of
Copiapo, and along trend and 45 km SW of
Lundin’s Candelaria Cu-Au-Fe mine
Property consists of a series of flat
“pampas” and small, rounded hills with
some of the geology obscured by thin
desert soils and colluvial deposits
Low altitudes generally < 300m
5
Morsas - Shear-Zone Gold
Located along the Coastal mineral belt of
northern Chile
A proven and productive mineral belt
REGIONAL
SETTING 1
Mesozoic and older rocks, including
important Jurassic and Cretaceous aged
volcanic and sedimentary sequences,
together with batholithic and sub-volcanic
porphyritic rocks, are host to IOCG, manto,
skarn, porphyry copper, and gold-rich shearzone deposits
Morsas is located close to and along trend
from one of the largest IOCG deposits in the
world (Candelaria - Lundin) and several
other important deposits including:
Los Colorados (CAP) - Fe
Boqueron Chañar (CAP) - Fe
Castilla (Pucobre) - Cu
Multiple small workings for Au, Cu, Fe
Morsas is principally prospective for shearzone hosted gold deposits
6
Morsas - Shear-Zone Gold
Major structural belts are key controls on
important mineral districts
The Coastal Cordillera is characterized by
extensive arc-parallel shear zones and
brittle faults, dominated by the Atacama
fault zone in northern Chile
REGIONAL
SETTING 2
Such structures were active during Late
Jurassic to Late Cretaceous arc magmatism,
controlled basin development, and had a
strong controlling influence on the
distribution of IOCG and other ore deposits
IOCG mineralization styles include veins,
hydrothermal breccias, replacement
mantos, and calcic skarns, with the larger
deposits generally exhibiting several of
these in combination.
Crucially, ductile shear zones along key
segments of the Atacama Fault System are
mineralised with gold and have formed
important gold-producing districts in the
past - as at Morsas
7
Morsas - Work To Date & Database
Morsas is an early stage exploration project
Geochemistry
Rock chip geochemistry (only minor sampling to date - no measured samples)
Further detailed sampling recommended - including old workings
Soil geochemistry and trenching (none to date)
Profiles along strike extensions of the shear zone recommended
WORK TO
DATE
Geophysics
Airborne magnetics - Sernageomin - Chilean geological survey public data
Further, more detailed ground geophysical profiles recommended
DATABASE
FROM BLC
& REVELO
Preliminary reporting - Internal reports
Could be drill ready in 3 - 6 months after aggressive sampling program
8
Morsas - Geology
GEOLOGY
9
Morsas - Geology
The Morsas project area is underlain by
La Negra (Upper Jurassic) and Punta del
Cobre (Lower Cretaceous) volcanosedimentary formations, which are the
favourable host rocks for the principal
IOCG deposits in the region
These formations are intruded by
Cretaceous plutonic rocks of the Coastal
Batholith
GEOLOGY
The central portion of the main
tenement block at Morsas is intruded by
a large, elongate (NE-SW) batholithic
intrusion of granodioritic to dioritic
composition (Coastal Batholith)
The regional strike is approximately NESW, and the NW margins of the pluton
are characterised by NE-SW trending
fault splays of the Atacama Fault zone,
including auriferous ductile shear zones,
as evidenced on airborne magnetics data
and outcrops, including old workings
