2012-13 SEASON REVIEW
ON THE ICE
• Omaha finished the season with a record of 19-18-2.
They were 14-12-2 in the WCHA, good for seventh place.
• Junior Ryan Walters was a Second Team West AllAmerican, the first Maverick to earn All-American honors
since Scott Parse in 2006-07.
• Walters also was a Top 10 Finalist for the Hobey Baker
Award, the first Maverick under consideration for Division
I college hockey’s top award since Parse in 2006-07.
• Walters was UNO’s leading scorer, notching 22 goals
and 30 assists for 52 points. He became just the third
Maverick to finish the season with 50 or more points,
following Scott Parse and Bill Thomas. Walters’ 52 points
tied Parse as the second highest point total in school
history. Walters’ 22 goals put him in a tie with David
Brisson for fourth-highest season goal total.
• Other highlights: Walters’ plus/minus rating (+26)
was a new school record; he reached 100 career points,
becoming the 13th UNO player to do so; he also finished
the season having played in 114 consecutive games.
• Walters was the WCHA’s Scoring Champion earning 40
points in 28 WCHA games. He also was named to the AllWCHA First Team, the first Maverick to earn the honor.
• Andrej Sustr was named to the All-WCHA Third Team.
• Josh Archibald was second in team scoring and in goals
with a career best 19 goals and 17 assists for 36 points.
• Dominic Zombo was third in scoring with a career-best

16 points), Brock Montpetit (13 assists), Bryce Aneloski
(21 points), Brian O’Rourke (1-5-6), James Polk (3 goals,
4 points) and Alex Simonson (2 assists).
• With 127 goals scored, the Mavericks tied for the fifthhighest scoring season in school history. Their average of
3.26 goals per game also ranks fifth in UNO history.
• Eight Mavericks played in their 100th career games
during the 2012-13 season: Bryce Aneloski, John
Faulkner, Ryan Walters, Matt White, Michael Young,
Andrej Sustr, Johnnie Searfoss and Zahn Raubenheimer.

series sweeps, having also done so in three previous
seasons. Their three road sweeps were a school record.
• The Mavericks earned the 250th win in school history
when they beat Army, 5-1, on Oct. 12.
