Champions" is Friday

Champions” track meet will be held
at Bulldog Stadium on Friday, May

Peaster upsets Howe in one-game

A one game series never plays in

the plays and got the hits when they
needed to and we just did not."
Banker said that Stubblefield came
back and gave the team everything
she had from the injury situation.
"Her hips, her legs, her back - just
about everything is hurting with that
child."

Recapping the season, Banker said,
"When you lose your leadoff hitter
in Blackburn the second half of the
season and lose Torrey for the
second half of the season to still
play as well as we did and 27-4-1 is
not a bad year. I'm happy with them
and I'm proud of them."
The only senior, Loftice said her last
game was emotional. "Sometimes
you have your bad days and I guess
this was just a bad day. We wanted
a series, but it's not what they
wanted. They won the flip."
This team will be mega-good in
2017.

Howe's sales tax nears all-time monthly high with $35,301
Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Glenn
Hegar announced that $768 million was
distributed to local governments in monthly
sales tax revenue. Of that amount, $35, 301.85
reached the City of Howe. The amount is a lift
of over $14,000 from the previous month and
Howe

highest in the city's history. Howe has
now reached a total of $130,433.68 for 2016
which is 2.67 percent ahead of the 2015 total at
the same time where the totals sat at
$127,032.42.
By historical comparison, the city's current
total of $130,433 is roughly the same as the
entire total in 2005 of $139,938.45. In 2015,
Howe took in a record high of $308,689.11
and is on pace to do slightly above that.
The record high for any month in Howe is
$37,357.39 which happened in February of
2015.

do not spend time in the word of
God you are dying of spiritual
starvation and dehydration. You
can only have an intimate
relationship with the Lord if you
live daily in His Word. When
you neglect His Word you are
undermining your relationship
with the source of spiritual life.
It’s a form of pride to think you
can provide for yourself the
nourishment that He said only He
can provide. If you came to Jesus
for the miracle fish and bread that
everyone else was receiving but
then continued in your own
selfish way…then you didn’t
really give yourself to Him. That
was you wanting God to serve
you, not you wanting to serve
Him as King! If you chase Him
for who He is you will hunger no
more and serve Him as your daily
Provider. “Jesus replied, "I am
the bread of life. Whoever comes
to Me will never be hungry again.
Whoever believes in Me will
never be thirsty,” John 6:35. If
you ever have an up close and
personal encounter with the
presence of God you will never
be the same. There is no denying
His deity. You won’t want to
leave that experience…you will
crave time with Him. That’s
what makes a true believer spend
time in the Word of God each
day.

because I go to the Father,” John
14:12. The Holy Spirit can perform
miracles through your willingness.
You need to be spiritually nourished
and filled with the Bread of Life.
No miracle you will ever experience
can compare to the work of God in
your own life when you truly
believe in Jesus with your whole
heart. He will show you your
hidden agendas, hurts, hang-ups and
habits and ask you to lay them at the
cross so you can be a vessel he can
use. He changes the heart of a true
believer because out of your heart
comes all of your behavior, good
and evil. Believe in Jesus with all

your heart and seek Him for who He
is. Then the fruit of His spirit will
flow out of everything you do and
pride and selfishness dies. The
Gallup pole says 9 of 10 Americans
say they believe in God. God says if
you truly believe in Him you will
abide or stay in His Word. True
belief in God results in obedience to
His Word because of honor, respect,
love and a healthy fear of the
Almighty God of all creation. If you
see God that big it humbles you. “If
you love Me, you will keep My
commandments,” John 14:15.
That’s pretty straight up.
“Do you believe in the Son of
Man?” John 9:35. Do you love
Him? Jesus is the only way to the
Father. Believing there is a God will
not change you, and looking around
at 9 out of 10 people will confirm
that statistic. Knowing God for Who
He is will change your life forever;
He will give you eternal salvation,
give you strength for tomorrow and
permission to lay your burdens
down. It’s simple, “Jesus, I believe
You are who You say You are.
Forgive me of my sins and come
make Your home in my heart. I give
you the rest of my life to do Your
way through me.”

Learn about antiques and collectibles
with Dr. Georgia Caraway
The best part of writing these
columns, other than doing the
research, is when I get emails from
readers. I received just such a
letter about my previous Blue
Willow column. The reader said,”
I have one of the dozens of legends
about the pattern, given to me by a
friend, and one that I have enjoyed
showing the grandchildren on my
own Blue Willow dishes:
“Three men going to Dover,
Weeping willow hanging over—
Two birds in the sky,
Little ship sailing by.
There’s the house;
Here’s the gate,
And that’s the way
You read the plate.”
Of course, that led me to want to
share another Blue Willow story
with you. The first time I taught
about Blue Willow in one of my
classes, I repeated the following
legend to the group.
“Two birds flying high
A little vessel sailing by
A bridge with two men or more
A weeping willow hanging o’er.
The king’s castle here it stands
The finest building in the land
An apple tree with apples on it
And here’s a fence to end my
sonnet.”
