In 1986 Yamaha revolutionised the personal watercraft industry with the introduction of

REVERSE WITH INTUITIVE DECELERATION ELECTRONICS
NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR 2015
WHAT IS RiDE?
RiDE is a new and intuitive way to control your WaveRunner when running,
turning, decelerating and reversing. RiDE is controlled by a trigger located on
the left handlebar of the craft allowing quick and convenient access to neutral
and reverse.
Unique in its design, RiDE is effectively a second throttle control operating
independently to the standard throttle control trigger on the right handle.
The standard right throttle trigger controls forward thrust and the left RiDE
trigger controls reverse thrust.
As a result, you can reverse by just using the left trigger while keeping both
hands on the handlebars. This provides single-action forward/reverse capability.
It also provides the ability to decelerate using the left trigger while riding.
ACCELERATE
After starting the engine, use the right trigger to take off smoothly from rest.
TURN
Use the right trigger throttle and steering control to turn. It’s also possible
to steer while decelerating (using the left trigger).
DECELERATE
As with traditional PWCs, you can decelerate by releasing the right trigger. But
now you can also decelerate with increased control by using the new RiDE trigger.
REVERSE
Simple operation of the left trigger allows reversing without the need to remove
your hands from the handlebars.

Reversing is now possible using only the RiDE trigger on the left handle.
This unique single-action reversing delivers convenient and intuitive control.
RiDE deflects jet thrust to the sides
of the craft to reduce roll forward,
maintaining a natural riding position
and reducing spray.
PROVIDES STABLE DECELERATION
How to deliver deceleration without losing stability or creating uncomfortable
spray – that was the challenge Yamaha engineers needed to overcome.
With RiDE, deceleration occurs by deflecting the jet thrust forward using
the reverse gate. This deflected jet thrust is split into left/right directions.
HOW STABLE DECELERATION IS ACHIEVED
Thrust directed to the sides of the craft prevents nose dive and unnecessary
spray while maintaining a more natural riding angle when the operator
engages the RiDE trigger to slow down.

THE ABILITY TO TURN WHILE DECELERATING
RiDE allows directional control while decelerating. This is another unique advantage
gained by deflecting jet thrust to the sides of the WaveRunner.

When tuning and decelerating simultaneously a difference in the amount of jet thrust
between the left and right side will occur when the jet nozzle direction is changed.
This difference in jet thrust enables steering even when reducing speed.

thus enabling the rider to turn even when reducing speed.

The brand NEW TR-1 (Triple 1 Litre) engine is an incredibly exciting
engine platform, which is set to revolutionise the performance of
our recreational WaveRunner range. This 3 cylinder, 1049cc engine
delivers significant improvements in several key areas.
The TR-1 engine weighs in at just 73 Kg, 26 kg lighter than the
previous engine platform while also reducing the overall size by 34%.
Most importantly this new engine brings the overall weight* of the
new VX Deluxe down to just 301 Kg and the new VX Limited to 303Kg.
Not only is the TR-1 engine smaller and lighter, it also delivers more
horsepower than the previous four-cylinder MR-1 engine. That
means an impressive overall power to weight ratio that delivers
quicker acceleration, higher top end speeds, with great fuel economy.

2016 FZ and FX SVHO models are constructed from Yamaha’s exclusive NanoXcel 2 compound, a nano-engineered
material that is even lighter, while maintaining the structural integrity Yamaha’s hulls have come to be recognised for.
To create NanoXcel2, Yamaha engineers innovated at the microscopic level using a combination of “nano” clay
and glass micro-bubbles to develop a new stronger resin that uses less material. The glass particles used in
NanoXcel2 are smaller and stronger than other filler materials, contributing to the strength, rigidity and
lightness of the new hulls and decks.
NanoXcel2 reduces the weight of the 2016 Yamaha FZ and FX SVHO models by 16 and 21 kilograms respectively*,
making NanoXcel2 hulls, decks and liners the lightest in the industry. This innovation give these high
performance machines a huge advantage in power to weight specifications. The result is noticeable
improvements in acceleration and handling on the water.
