Located at the foot of the Rosengarten/Catinaccio Massif, home to the legendary King Laurin,
the villages of Nova Levante (1182 m) and Carezza
(1600 m) are surrounded by lush meadows and
thick forests. This area between the peaks of the
Latemar mountains and the glistening waters
of Lake Carezza is especially enchanting as the
sun begins to set, bathing the pale rock faces in
flaming hues of red, orange and purple. Sports
enthusiasts can enjoy 116 km of hiking paths,
numerous via ferrata fixed-rope climbing trails as
well as countless mountain bike and rock climbing routes, while guests who want to explore the
region at a more leisurely pace can hop on a bus,
or head into the mountains with the new cableway from Nova Levante. At the foot of the imposing Rosengarten/Catinaccio Massif, golfers can
tee off on one of Europe’s highest courses. After
all that exercise, soothe those aching muscles in
the local heated outdoor pool, before sampling
traditional South Tyrolean cuisine in one of the
family-run hotels and restaurants in the region.
Nova Ponente (1350 m), Ega (1120 m), Obereggen
(1500 m), Monte S. Pietro (1380 m) and the wellknown place of pilgrimage Pietralba (1520 m)
nestle between rolling green pastures and
light forests and offer magnificent views of the
surrounding mountain chains, including the
Catinaccio, Latemar, Corno Bianco and Corno
Nero. Well-marked hiking trails for hikers of
all abilities are complemented by fantastic
bicycle and mountain bike trails. A number of
via ferrata fixed-rope climbing routes as well
as challenging rock climbing can be found on
the rock faces above. Monte S. Pietro is also
home to South Tyrol’s most historic 18-hole golf
course. Visitors to the Geoparc Bletterbach can
discover how the Dolomites were built up layer
by layer over many millennia, while those with
nerves of steel should head to the high-rope
adventure park in Obereggen. Don’t forget to
check out what is going on in your own village
during your stay.
Recently named Europe’s first Stargazing Village,
Collepietra lies on a high plateau surrounded by
the mountains of the Rosengarten/Catinaccio,
Latemar and Sciliar. Visitors will enjoy the gentle
walking paths criss-crossing the plateau and offering magnificent views of the surrounding peaks.
The starting points for hikes into the mountains
can also be reached quickly and easily using local
public transport. In Collepietra (823 m), Cornedo
(500 m), Cardano (390 m), S. Valentino (1117 m)
and Prato Isarco (315 m), traditions continue to
play an important role in everyday life, with festivals and celebrations dating back many centuries
taking place frequently. Collepietra Museum offers visitors the chance to discover what life was
like on a mountain farm in days gone by. Despite
being built in the Middle Ages, Cornedo Fortress
has been preserved in all its glory. Stargazers
should head to the village of S. Valentino di Sopra
with its two observatories (star and solar) and
fascinating Planet Trail, before moving on to
nearby S. Valentino to find out even more about
the night sky at the South Tyrol Planetarium.

ROCK CLIMBING TASTER SESSIONS
Adults and children can try their hand at rock climbing and learn the
most important safety rules at weekly taster sessions held at the
climbing centre in Carezza. There are also plenty of games set up for
children to enjoy. Equipment is provided.
Taster sessions are held every Wednesday from end of June to
mid-September between 9 am and 3 pm.

With the new Mountain Bike Card all the
mountain biker’s can make the Latemar round
with a day-ticket! The Bikers can use the cable
car Nova Levante, cable car Predazzo and the
chair lift Gardonè for one turn. For the great
Latemar round we have a second ticket where
are included also the lifts of Lusia!
Where the new gondola aerial lift starts in the
center of the village of Welschnofen / Nova Levante, an attractive flow trail is being established
for bikers of every stripe. The trail begins under
the Frommer Alm and leads through the small,
beautiful Niger Valley and to the valley station of
the Welschnofen gondola aerial lift. The flow trail
repeatedly runs parallel to a brook, winds its way
through forests, and crosses meadows. With its
steep turns and high banked curves, small bridges
and jumps as well as northshores, the trail will offer biking enthusiasts real excitement. Basic Data:

... VERTICAL CAREZZA MOUNTAIN RUN
Eggental is home to two golf courses. The nine-hole Carezza Golf
Club at the foot of the Rosengarten Massif offers players the unique
experience of finishing their round as the setting sun bathes the pale
Dolomites in hues of red. At the Petersberg Golf Club, the most traditional 18-hole course in South Tyrol, wonderful views are complemented by tricky dog-leg approaches.
07.08.2016 – This running event is held in and around the magnificent Rosengarten mountains. The steep course starts at Frommeralm
(bottom station of the König Laurin chairlift) and leads up to the
Tschagerjoch at 2635m. The race make part of the “South Tyrol Vertical Tours” (Mühlwalder Vertical and “Hühnerspiel” Vertical Gossensass).

A Nordic walking course with Peter Unterhauser is held in Nova
Ponente every Friday (mid-May until end of October 2016) from 9:30
am until 11:30 am. Please register at least one day in advance, by
5:00 pm at the latest, at the local tourist office. The course is free of
charge; walking poles will be provided.
... THE TIGHTROPE ADVENTURE FOREST
The tightrope adventure forest is located right in the middle of
Obereggen. Four trails and 30 exercises: it is quite the challenge.
A raft of routes were installed in the lofty heights of the trees without damaging them. These routes are perfect for overcoming small
obstacles and carrying out exercises. Below the tree’s foliage you
can walk across wire ropes, swings, wooden walkways and a 90 m
rope-slide. The beauty of nature: experience it in a very different way
than what you’re used to.

A KINDOM OF EMOTIONS
The Latemarium can be easily reached from Obereggen via the
Oberholz chairlift. This is where the Latemar.Natura, Latemar.
Panorama and Latemar.2671 m themed trails start. The viewing
platform is just 5 minutes’ walk away from the mountain station.
The ‘LATEMAR.360’ is a gigantic, wooden snail, which is perched
on the mountainside, at 2,100 m altitude. The shape resembles
that of a fossil discovered on the Latemar.

The trail ‘LATEMAR.NATURA’ will teach you all there is to know
about the Latemar: its mountain forests, the alpine meadows
and mountains in general. The trail is ideal for families: barely
any elevation gain and packed with interactive and well-thought
educational information boards along the way.
The ‘LATEMAR.PANORAMA’ offers even more unique views.
The trail winds its way below the rocky walls for 3 and a half km.
You can sit and relax in some chill-out areas and take in the marvellous views. At the same time you can learn something about
the geological peculiarities of the mountain, its flora and fauna,
the mythical characters of the Latemar, or discover something
about the war with the neighbouring Fleimstal valley.
The LATEMAR.ALP trail, which is accessible for buggies and
pushchairs, winds its way through the lush green meadows at
the foot of the Latemar Massif. It is a themed hiking path where
families can not only enjoy fabulous views and delicious local food
but also learn more about mountain farming and the Dolomites, a
UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The new LATEMAR.ART trail leads past sculptures and installations by international artists all the way up to over 2000 m
altitude, making it one of the world’s highest exhibition sites.
Featured artists include Hidetoshi Nagasawa, Thorsten Schütt
and Gordon Dick.
For the leisurely hiker the ideal trail is the ‘LATEMAR.RELAX’.
The trail starts from the Laner Alm across thick forests and soft
hills in full bloom to Obereggen. Children, while their parents
relax on the deckchairs and wile the day away, can look at the
animals grazing on the soft mountain meadows.

For the fittest of our guests, the ‘LATEMAR.UNESCO’ is the best
trail of them all. The intermediate mountain excursion takes you
past chimneys and towers to the Latemar hut (2,671 meters). The
only hut which has thrived in the craggy mountain world.

do exactly that. Here, at the heart of the Dolomites UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, is
the ideal place to escape the stresses and strains
of the daily routine and to enjoy the beauty of
nature in spring, including thick forests, lush
meadows and panoramic views. True to its name,
the Senses Hike is a sensory experience: breathe
in the unmistakable smell of pinewood forests,
touch the waters of cold mountain streams and
feel the warmth of the spring sun on your face,
listen to the sound of the mountains. The hike
includes stops at a number of pretty spots to
relax and simply enjoy being at one with nature.

Cornedo Castle
Towering high above the deep Eggental Canyon
is the impressive Cornedo Castle. The symbol of
the local municipality, it was built around 1200
by the Greifenstein family and is considered
one of the most beautiful in South Tyrol. Among
the highlights are the courtyard and fountain,
open-air staircases and loggia spread over two
