Lufthansa Resource Technical Training Training Directory 2011 LRTT Training Directory 2011 Foreword by the General Manager Welcome Welcome to the Lufthansa Resource Technical Training Directory for 2011. Since relocation to our brand new, state of the art facility we are seeing record numbers of delegates from the UK and overseas opting for training with us. We have undertaken this development programme not only to increase capacity to meet demand, but also to provide a genuine industry leading learning environment. Why Train with LRTT? We firmly believe that the interest from new customers and the loyalty of our existing delegates is due to our industry focus, highly qualified Technical Instructors and customer service levels. We have more than 300 years of actual, hands on, industry experience. LRTT only trains people for aviation, we do not deliver training by routine or academic year, we help our delegates to live it, just like we do and you can only achieve that by being at the heart of the industry. We respect your background and experience and through our robust internal quality and feedback system we encourage you to make suggestions for further improvement. We are not just judged by our service levels but also by our results. LRTT has an impressive record of success that we are more than happy to share, with pass rates frequently updated on our website. Once again, welcome and, on behalf of LRTT, I hope that you find all the information that you are looking for. LRTT brings unique qualities to the UK basic training sector with flexible training solutions designed to give you the maximum training and cost benefits. Since LRTT came into existence we have trained thousands of students from the UK and overseas. Your EASA Part-66 Training Partner We welcome individual students as well as large client bookings. Students can tailor modules to suit their exact requirements and can attend as many or as few modules as they like. Being a one-stop shop we conduct examinations on-site, the fees for which are included in the price of the module. Should it be necessary we offer one free examination resit for every module you book from our schedule. If your employer is covering the course cost, we can invoice them directly. Cost Effective, High Quality Training We have established an enviable reputation as a provider of cost-effective high-quality training and have provided training to individuals and organisations worldwide. Our clients have included aircraft manufacturers, OEM’s, international airlines, major helicoper operators, VIP operators, budget and charter airlines, air taxi operators and private individuals. LRTT is not constrained to the academic timetable and can design courses so that your staff are not training during your busy periods. Currently we are approved to deliver: • EASA Part-66 Category A1.1 Basic Training Courses • EASA Part-66 Category B1.1 Basic Training Courses • EASA Part-66 Category B1.3 Basic Training Courses • EASA Part-66 Category B2 Basic Training Courses From the UK 0844 980 3340 Outside the UK +44 (0) 1285 772669 www.lrtt.co.uk [email protected] 4 LRTT Training Directory 2011 A Complete Learning Environment State of the Art Training Facilities Lufthansa Resource Technical Training (LRTT) have been based at the Cotswold Airport in Gloucestershire (GL7 6BA) since June 2010. The move from their original base in South Wales has enabled them to operate more effectively from a state of the art training facility. Complete Learning Environment LRTT has invested a lot of time and money into making their training centre a complete learning environment for both classroom and practical skills based training. On-site Facilities include: • Integral training hangar • Fully operational airliner • Variety of training aids for on-aircraft practical training • Two fully operational helicopters • Avionics, composite and sheet metal workshops with integral classrooms • Five separate theory classrooms all with the latest SmartBoard projection systems • Student rest room with WIFI Many of our students are training with us for weeks at a time and we try to make their stay with us as comfortable as possible. Currently there are limited on site catering facilities with many of our students pre-ordering their lunches with the Thames Head Inn and Maggies. For those students who wish to remain on site at lunch times we have a microwave oven where food can be heated, we also have a food carousel which is replenished on a daily basis with pies, pasties, sandwiches, soft drinks, yogurts and confectionery etc. We also operate a drinks machine where you can purchase a range of hot drinks. The certification privileges are restricted to work the holder has personally performed in a Part-145 organisation. The A licence is sub-divided into *sub-categories as below: • • • • A1 Aeroplanes Turbine-Engines A2 Aeroplanes Piston-Engines A3 Helicopters Turbine-Engines A4 Helicopters Piston-Engines *LRTT are approved for A1 and A3 sub-categories. Part-147 Approved Training Route A course of training can be undertaken under the auspices of a Part-147 approved basic training school. The course will consist of a minimum of 800 hours instruction, except for sub-Category A2 which will consist of 650 hours instruction. The purpose of the course is to teach the individual the basic underpinning theoretical knowledge required for the category A role and to provide basic skills and maintenance practices training to establish basic practical competence. The course includes theory exams and practical skills assessments as part of the training and qualification philosophy. The approved course must be followed by a minimum of 1 year’s practical line maintenance experience to consolidate the training received prior to licence application. Although a restricted B1 can be issued without any further training, this restricts the authorisation capability of the licence holder to the exact authorisation areas they held before the change to EASA licensing. Individuals can retain authorisation ‘grandfather rights’ but these expire when the individual moves company or the existing company adds a new aircraft type. To remove limitaions 1 and 9 and to attain an unrestricted B1 licence the following modular and sub modular examinations need to be passed. The added advantage of attaining an unrestricted B1 licence is that you can extend the licence to include the B2 category. The multi-licensed engineer can sign off many additional maintenance tasks, resulting in highly qualified and flexible staff. The modular structure of the courses makes training extremely flexible; modules can be booked in any order and scheduled around work commitments. As LRTT is an approved training provider, we set and administer the examinations for each module in-house. This reduces costs in transport and time away to attend central examinations. We even offer a free examinations resit per module, should it be required. LRTT has developed this course to help address this skills gap and to provide confidence to B1 engineers removing limiations 1 and 9. LRTTs certificate for this course details the practical content and can be presented to the CAA as a component of the practical experience required to suplement the modular and sub modular examinations. • • • • Methods used to find information, use of the • wiring diagram manual, wire lists, charts etc. • Practical exercises using WDM, wire lists etc. • Safety practices and standard techniques • Cable identification, wire types, cable forming • Looming, lacing, cable clipping and routing Connectors Cable repairs, stripping, crimping, soldering Troubleshooting, use of meters and standard test equipment Practical Hand Skills Training with type-related cables and connectors using a purposedesigned exercise board Aircraft Structural Hand Skills Many licenced engineers and technicians have limited experience and exposure to the repair of aircraft structure and, as such, lack the skills and knowledge to carry out even minor aircraft structural repairs. This can result in excessive aircraft down time and the need to bring in outside specialists. This course will provide participants with the basic skills and underpinning knowledge to manufacture and assemble aircraft structural repair components in accordance with engineering work sheets and drawings contained in structural repair manuals (SRM’s). This course can be used towards CAA requirements for practical experience.
