Gaylon McCollough announce a multi-faceted collaboration. Meadows and McCollough solidified the partnership during an agreement signing and reception June 29 at the McCollough Institute for Appearance and Health, located in the Craft Farms Coastal Golf Resort in Gulf Shores, Ala. “This is an exciting day for me,” said McCollough, speaking to Gulf Shores officials and business leaders, a PJC delegation and distinguished guests. “PJC’s students are among the best I have worked with, and they come into the operating room ready to step right in.” About 20 PJC surgical tech students have completed clinical rotations at the Institute since March. “I am delighted to partner with a man of such international reputation,” Meadows said. “We plan to optimize every opportunity — a comprehensive array of opportunities — the partnership provides.” Partnership provisions include clinical site rotation internships for PJC students enrolled in medical and cosmetic programs; collaboration with various PJC programs to engage students in work projects; Institute medical staff providing lectures and advising the college about emerging medical workforce career training needs; PJC assisting recruitment of graduates for employment at the Institute; collaboration with WSRE TV (the college’s PBS station), PJC’s Continuing Education department and the Institute. McCollough is a world renowned facial and nasal plastic surgeon. He is listed among the “Best Doctors in America,” “America’s Top Plastic Surgeons” and the National Registry of Who’s Who in America. He has served as the international president of the largest specialty plastic surgery organization in the world — the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Board meets The July Board of Trustees meeting is 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, Building 7, room 736B, Pensacola campus. Board nominates Andry The Pensacola Junior College District Board of Trustees announces its nomination of Vincent Andry for the 2009 Association of Community College Trustees Leadership Award. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush appointed Andry to the PJC Board in 2003 and reappointed him in 2006. During his six-year tenure, Andry served as chair of the finance and facilities committees, two terms as vice chair and two terms as chair of the PJC Board. Andry Andry, supervisor of customer service for the Pensacola electric utility Gulf Power, served on the PJC Board during the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan, which struck Pensacola and the Gulf Coast in September 2004. The force of Ivan devastated all three PJC campuses; the college sustained $18 million in facilities damage. Andry provided key leadership in assisting with the repair and re-opening the college after only six weeks following the hurricane. In his second term as vice chair, Andry chaired the college’s search committee for a new president. A 35-member committee, composed of PJC faculty, staff and students, along with key members of the Escambia-Santa Rosa county community, conducted a national search for a new college leader. Andry also provided leadership resulting in an expanded mission and vision for the college to take steps toward becoming a baccalaureate-degree granting institution. In addition, he participated in ACCT legislative workshops in Washington, D.C. and was active in the Florida Association of Community Colleges Trustee Commission. The Association of Community College Trustees is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards, representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern more than 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges in the United States.
