The Käte Hamburger Centre for Advanced Study “Law as
Culture” is seated in the landmarked “Direktorenvilla” (Directors’
mansion) at the end of Rheinwerkallee. It is located right on the
bank of the Rhine at the Bonner Bogen in Oberkassel, a district
of Bonn located on the right side of the river. Our Centre is easy to
identify based on its architectural features: It is a red brick building
with a tower and white northern façade, combined with a glass
annex. Distinct landmarks in its vicinity are the old water tower,
the four-story “Rohmühle” as well as the “Kameha Grand Hotel”.

• From Bonn central station
By subway
From the train platform, head towards the signs for the
subway (U-Bahn). Take line 66 towards Bad Honnef and
get off at Ramersdorf.
The trip takes about 14 minutes. For further directions,

By public transport
By tram
Leave the train station through the main entrance and head
towards the city centre. Take line 62 (departs on the opposite
side of the street) towards Oberkassel Süd/Römlinghoven
and get off at Ramersdorf.
The trip takes about 18 minutes. For further directions,
please refer to the section “From Ramersdorf station”.
• From Frankfurt airport (FRA)
There is a direct ICE connection to Bonn-Siegburg station (ca.
40 minutes). From there, take subway line 66 in direction of
Bad Honnef and get off at Ramersdorf (another 40 minutes).
The entire trip including transfer time takes about 1.5 hours.

By bus
Leave the train station through the main entrance and head
towards the city centre. You will see the bus terminal to your
right. Go to bay C3 and take line 606 towards Ramersdorf.
Get off at Konrad-Zuse-Platz.
The trip takes about 23 minutes. For further directions, please

The Centre at the end of Rheinwerkallee
• From Bonn-Oberkassel station
Exit the platform and turn right in the underpass towards the
bank of the Rhine River (Rheinufer). Turn right and follow the
riverbank downstream until you see our Centre on the right
(a red brick villa with a glass annex). As soon as you have
passed the Centre, there is a staircase leading up to Rheinwerkallee. Go up the stairs and you will find the entrance to
the Käte Hamburger Centre for Advanced Study “Law as
Culture” after a few meters to your right.
The entire walk takes about 5 minutes.
• From Cologne/Bonn airport (CGN)
There is a direct connection via the regional express train
headed for Koblenz (track 4 D-F). Get off at Bonn-Oberkassel.
The trip takes about 25 minutes. For further directions, please

• From Cologne central station
There is a direct connection either via the regional train
(RB 27) or the regional express train (RE 8) headed for
Koblenz. Get off at Bonn-Oberkassel.

Joseph-Schumpeter-Allee
• From Ramersdorf station
On foot
Leave the station and head towards the car dealership by the
main road. Once you have reached Königswinterer Straße,
turn left and head for the large roundabout. Cross the roundabout and continue along Königswinterer Straße. Once you
have passed the police station located on the right side of the
street, turn right into Heinrich-Konen-Straße. Follow HeinrichKonen-Straße, which goes beneath the train tracks, until you
reach the old water tower. Cross the street and turn into
Rheinwerkallee, located diagonally across. Stay on Rheinwerkallee until it ends at the Rhine esplanade. The seat of
the Käte Hamburger Centre for Advanced Study “Law as
Culture” is a red brick villa with a white northern façade on
the left side of Rheinwerkallee, across from the four-story
“Rohmühle”.
The entire walk takes about 10 minutes.
By bus
From Ramersdorf station, take line 606 towards Malteser
Krankenhaus and get off at the second stop, Konrad-ZusePlatz.
The bus ride takes about 3 minutes.
• From the bus station “Konrad-Zuse-Platz”
Head towards the water tower, turn right into Rheinwerkallee
after a few meters and head for the bank of the Rhine at the
end of the street. The seat of the Käte Hamburger Centre for
Advanced Study “Law as Culture” is a red brick villa with a
white northern façade on the left side of Rheinwerkallee,
across from the four-story “Rohmühle”.

By car
General information on getting to the Centre, parking
and use of navigation systems
The address of the Käte Hamburger Centre for Advanced
Study “Law as Culture” is Konrad-Zuse-Platz 1-3,
53227 Bonn. However, please note that some navigation
systems are not able to find the route to the Centre, whose
entrance is at the end of Rheinwerkallee. For this reason,
and also due to the difficulty finding parking right next to
the building, it is best to enter “Karl-Duwe-Straße” as the
destination in the navigation system. There, you can park
in the public parking garage.
Rheinwerkallee and water tower
• From the parking garage to the Käte Hamburger

After you exit the parking garage, cross Konrad-Zuse-Platz
and turn into Rheinwerkallee, located diagonally across.
Stay on Rheinwerkallee until it ends at the Rhine esplanade.

• From the A3 northbound
You are on the A3 towards Cologne (Köln). Take exit 33
Siebengebirge and then turn right towards Königswinter.
Follow L331 through the town of Ittenbach and continue on
the B42 towards Bonn until you reach the Bonn-Ost interchange. There, head onto the A562 towards Bad Godesberg
and stay on the right lane.
Rheinwerkallee
• From the A59 towards Bonn/Königswinter
You are on the A59 southbound towards Bonn-Bad Godesberg/Königswinter. At exit 42 Bonn-Ost, merge onto the A562
towards Bad Godesberg. Stay on the right lane. Take exit 3
Bonn-Beuel-Süd towards Bonn-Oberkassel and stay on the
left exit lane. At the traffic lights, turn left onto Landgrabenweg.
Turn right just before the roundabout into Joseph-Schumpeter-Allee. After a couple hundred meters, you will reach
a public parking garage located across from the old water
tower by Konrad-Zuse-Platz.

Immediately take exit 3 Bonn-Beuel-Süd towards BonnOberkassel and stay on the left exit lane. At the traffic lights,
turn left onto Landgrabenweg. Turn right just before the
roundabout into Joseph-Schumpeter-Allee.
After a couple hundred meters, you will reach a public
parking garage located across from the old water tower
by Konrad-Zuse-Platz.
• From the main building of the University of Bonn
(Regina-Pacis-Weg 3, 53113 Bonn):
Head onto the four-lane Adenauerallee, running east of the
Hofgarten, and follow south towards Bad Godesberg. Stay
on Adenauerallee (B9), which changes names several times
(Willy-Brandt-Allee, Friedrich-Ebert-Allee, Godesberger Allee).
Take on-ramp 1 Bonn-Bad Godesberg onto A562 towards
Köln/Siegburg, Königswinter. As soon as you have crossed
the Rhine, take exit 3 Bonn-Beuel-Süd and stay on the left
exit lane. At the roundabout, take the second exit, leading into
Joseph-Schumpeter-Allee. After a couple hundred meters,
you will reach a public parking garage located across from
the old water tower by Konrad-Zuse-Platz.
The drive takes about 10 to 15 minutes. For directions on how

You are on the A562 towards Köln/Siegburg, Königswinter.
Immediately after crossing the Rhine, take exit 3 Bonn-BeuelSüd towards Bonn-Oberkassel and stay on the left exit lane.
