YMCA summer camps provide children with positive and fun experiences that
build confidence, new friendships and a feeling of community that will last
beyond the summer. Kennett Area Y camp staff go through rigorous training
to ensure the safety and positive experience of each child.

TRADITIONAL DAY CAMP: With themes like
Circus, Circus, Pirates of Brandywine and Super
Heroes, every camp week is fun-filled and
action packed. Campers experience a variety
of activities including art, nature, sports,
team-building and swimming. See pages 4 & 5.
SPECIALTY CAMPS: Let your child’s imagination
soar! Pottery, science experiments and more add
up to summer fun. See page 6.
SPORTS CAMPS: Sports Camp focuses on skill
development and basic knowledge of the game.
Sports Camp counselors develop player skills in
an environment that encourages fair play and
sportsmanship. Our sports campers also participate
in traditional camp activities. See page 8.
ADVANCED SPORTS CAMPS: Advanced Sports
Camp is a sport-specific camp that focuses on
improving skills, developing confidence, and
engaging in competitive play. This camp includes
skills, drills, and sports specific conditioning.

TEEN CAMPS: Y teen camps give kids entering
grades 7 through 12 the opportunity to explore
their independence, develop leadership skills,
have fun with friends and go on exciting field
trips! See pages 10 & 11.
PRESCHOOL CAMPS: The fun starts early for our
littlest campers. Half-day and full-day camps led
by state-licensed Y preschool staff offer themebased activities and crafts. See pages 12 & 13.

Explore different decades as we travel through
the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. There is plenty to
do as we experience tie dye, crazy hair contests,

Captain Blackbeard buried his treasure at Camp
Lenni Lenape many years ago but has lost the
map to reclaim it. Join the journey with his crew
through caves, swamps, and sea battles in a race
against other pirates to find the treasure.

Yee Haw! Join us for a wild week of western fun
and games! We'll learn about animals and farming
in this wild week.

The Evil Queen and her henchmen have taken
control of Kennett’s enchanted woods and banished

the Kennett Kingdom and restore FUN through a
series of missions and scavenger hunts.

The Circus is in Camp Town. Enjoy a week under
the Big Top playing games, creating circus animals
and other Big Top games and adventures.

Swimming
All campers enjoy a recreational swim period
every day at the outdoor pool, weather
permitting. Trained YMCA lifeguards evaluate all
campers prior to swimming. Campers also take a
swim test before swimming in the deep end.

KENNETT AREA YMCA
Skateboard Camp is for the camper who has
beginner to intermediate skateboarding experience.
Campers learn proper foot position and balancing
skills, as well as techniques for basic flat riding,
pushing, turning, and stopping. Campers looking
for additional challenges work on skating ramps
and other skate park elements. Proper usage of
skateboard equipment (helmets and pads) and
skate park etiquette is discussed.
Campers are required to bring a skateboard and
wear a helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads. Wrist
guards are required. Previous skateboarding
experience is not required.

Ages 6 to 12: Our action-packed sports camps focus on developing
athletic skills, learning basic rules and fair game play, and acquiring game
experience in a non-competitive environment. Sports camp also includes
swimming, fitness, character development, and other traditional camp activities.

LEADERSHIP CAMP
YMCA Summer Camps are a great place to become
a teen leader, build your resume, and prepare for
the future! Teens have great potential for leading
others in ways that can have an incredible impact!
YMCA leadership development camps harness
that potential through experiential learning and
doing. These programs are geared for teens who
are highly motivated, ready to work AND play hard,
and who demonstrate the additional responsibilities
in accepting the challenges of leadership!
Leaders-In-Training (LIT)
Ages 12 & 13
Weeks 2 through 10: June 20 to August 19
A weekly camp for younger teens who are ready for
more than the traditional camp setting. LITs work
closely with peers to develop communication, team
work, goal setting, trust, decision making, organization
and problem solving skills, as well as teen-oriented
activities that are not available to other campers.
Fun, traditional camp activities are part of each
weekly schedule.

Counselor-In-Training (CIT)
Ages 14 & 15
Weeks 3 & 4: June 27 to July 8 or Weeks 6 &
7: July 18 to 29 (two week program)
This is for teens that are passionate about
building upon their general leadership skills. This
program will include CIT Course Work and Field
Work into one awesome experience. CIT's are
mentored by Y staff and have the opportunity to
learn important skills in the camp environment.

Junior Counselors (JC)
Ages 16 & Up
Weeks 1 through 11: June 13 to August 26
The ultimate level in YMCA Teen Leadership
Development! JC’s are paid camp staff members
who have successfully completed the CIT Course
Work and Field Work programs (or approved
equivalent). JC’s are subject to an application and
interview process and must be available to all
staff trainings if hired. Only a few of these incredible
opportunities are available, so apply early.

your child excited about learning. Our caring and experienced staff provides fun
and stimulating experiences through hands-on activities including crafts, stories,
songs, games, outdoor activities, theme weeks, and swimming.

Super Heroes have been called to unite at Kennett
City to help make sure nothing or no one can ruin
camp in 2016. All your favorite heroes are here
to help with the fight! Will our heroes be able to
keep camp safe and sound for all campers? They
need your help, so make sure you’re here to join
in the fun.

Oink! Moo! Cock-a-doodle-do! Put on your best

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION
A YMCA Membership is not required to register
for summer camp.
Financial Assistance
Families with two or more children signing up for
the same camp week receive 10% off the lowest
weekly fee (restrictions apply).
Camp Payment
Payments can be made through electronic draft or
in person at the branch either through a weekly
payment or full payment.
All camp balances are due the Monday two weeks
prior to the start of your child’s camp session.
EXTENDED CAMP TIME included!
Late Pick Up Fee
Reduced rate scholarships are available
for Kennett Area YMCA members with a yearly
family income of $45,000 or less. Camp scholarships
are available each week of summer camp. Fee with
reduced rate scholarship: $40 per child per week,
payable at the time of registration by check, cash,

LATE REGISTRATION
caMP SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Registration fees are due at the time of registration.
Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Traditional and Non-Specialty Camps:
Family Member: $20 per child per week
Community Participant: $40 per child per week
Specialty Camps:
Select camps with limited enrollment require
higher registration fees to reserve placement.
The Y is a non-profit charitable organization that
strengthens the foundations of our community.
Thanks to the community’s donations to the
Y’s Annual Campaign, the Y offers financial
assistance for various programs and membership
for those unable to pay the full fees. For financial

The Y’s optional “SPARK TIME” extended camp
program ignites your child’s interests with a choice
of activities designed to keep them intrigued, engaged
and having fun! Details about before and after
camp options are included in the camp descriptions.

REGISTRATION FEE
Financial Assistance Available
Registrations completed less than 14 days prior
to the start of the camp session will incur an
additional $25 fee.
Cancellations
No refunds are available after the start of a
camp week. Any camp cancellations less than one
week prior to the camp start date will result in an
additional $50 penalty fee.
The camp day ends at 6:00 pm. If you are going
to be late picking up your child, please arrange to
have an emergency pick-up person arrive by 6:00
pm or call the YMCA to inform staff.
A late fee of $5 for pick-up one to five minutes
past program end time, and $1 per minute
thereafter will be charged.
