The world’s largest and oldest military aviation museum with over 400 aerospace vehicles and
thousands of personal artifacts, photographs and documents tell the story of military aviation from
the days of the Wright brothers to the latest in stealth technology. Sensory-rich exhibits, hands-on
educational programs and information, and entertaining special events bring the Air Force story to
life. Nine presidential aircraft are located in the Presidential Gallery.
The Museum complex includes three attached main museum buildings, which contain a newly
renovated giant screen digital 3-D theater, restaurant, gift shop and aviation bookstore, as well as
the major exhibits. Located a mile from the main museum are the Presidential Aircraft and Research
and Development/Flight Test Hangers. A Memorial Park adjacent to the parking lot contains various
memorials honoring individuals and organizations associated with the United States Air Force.

Dayton Aviation Heritage National
Historical Park
The human imagination found its highest expression in three men from Dayton,
Ohio: Wilbur and Orville Wright, first to
fly a powered, heavier-than-air machine and
creators of the practical airplane, and Paul
Laurence Dunbar, who with his compelling
new voice was the first African American writer
to win high distinction in American literature.
Dayton Aviation Heritage commemorates the
lives and legacies of these three exceptional
men and the history of aviation. The park is a
cooperative effort between the National Park
Service and four partners.

Huffman Prairie Flying Field (FREE)
Huffman Prairie Flying Field, a national historic landmark, is located at
Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Greene County. This 84-acre pasture is
where Wilbur and Orville Wright undertook the difficult and dangerous
task of creating a dependable, fully controllable airplane and training
themselves to be pilots. The field looks just as it did when the Wright
brothers flew here in 1904.

Air Force Base from its beginnings at McCook Field in Dayton during
World War I, up to its contributions to the aerospace projects of the future
now being carried out at its current complex, which includes the Huffman

National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center
The Museum opened to the public in 1988 with enthusiastic support of
hundreds of individuals throughout the nation who have donated family
treasures to the center. In less than two years, the museum had developed
one of the nation’s largest collections of Afro-American materials, including
over 9,000 artifacts, 350 manuscript collections, and thousands of photographs. Staff continues to collect artifacts from people throughout the nation
who are anxious to have their family history preserved in the first national
museum dedicated to Afro-American history and culture.
The National Afro-American Museum and Cultural Center (NAAMCC)
opened a new art exhibit, “How I Got Over,” which showcases how African
Americans have used art to mobilize communities. The exhibit title comes
from the song sung by gospel singer and civil rights activist Mahalia Jackson
after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech. The
NAAMCC is located on the campus of Central State University. Hours Wed Sat. 9AM to 4PM. Closed Sun. Mon. & Tues. Wilberforce (937) 376-4944

Historic Clifton Mill
The Historic Clifton Mill is one of the largest water powered grist mills
still in existence. Built in 1802, the mill was originally called the Davis
Mill by its founder Owen Davis. Clifton Mill provided cornmeal to federal troops during the American Revolution. The Historic Clifton Mill
was built in this location to take advantage of the natural power of
the concentrated water funneled from the Little Miami River into the
Clifton Gorge. The Satariano family purchased the mill in 1987 and
continue to preserve its historical integrity. Step back in time as you
visit the mill and enjoy home-style cooking along with the general

The best way to describe The Greene is to imagine a village
with shops surrounding green open space surrounded by
shops, apartments, restaurants, and entertainment. The
Greene is a great destination for shopping and dining
with over 70 shops and 25 restaurants to choose from. If
you’re looking for a glass of wine outdoors overlooking the
‘Greene’, try McCormick and Schmick’s, Brio Tuscan Grill or
the Cheesecake Factory. Books and Co., a two story book
lover’s paradise, features book signings several times a
month. Rave Cinema offers 14 movie theaters and if it’s
laughter you’re after, the Funny Bone Comedy Club is a fun
place to go with a group. I-675 and Indian Ripple Road.

Rediscover the nostalgia of downtown shopping in these
unique and family-owned businesses: fine jewelry, optical
fashions, flowers, musical instruments, specialty coffees,
and one of the most unusual stores in Ohio - Foy’s Five and
Dime. Established in 1929, Foy’s still sells the candy and
toys of yesteryear and has the largest selection of Halloween costumes and merchandise in the midwest.
