National Council for Adoptions – (202) 328-1200 Provides information regarding adoption options. California Youth Crisis Hotline – (800) 843-5200 If the teen (either mother or father) would like to speak anonymously about problems surrounding pregnancy, impending birth or any other problem, counselors are available to be of assistance. National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy Hotline – (888) 862-8432 Spanish-speaking counselors will provide referrals and information. Eligibility for aid (CalWORKs) will be determined at the local office. Medi-Cal and Healthy Families – (888) 747-1222 Call for applications for either program for free or low-cost medical care Women, Infant and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program – (888) 942-9675 Pregnant teens may receive free food vouchers along with nutrition education and referrals to health care. Will refer the teen to the WIC office nearest her home. Comprehensive Perinatal Services Program (CPSP) – (213) 639-6425 CPSP providers include private doctors as well as both private and county clinics and hospitals providing an augmented level of care under the Medi-Cal reimbursement program. Multi-service agencies work with pregnant and parenting teens to help them remain in school, get prenatal and other health care, work out family problems, enhance their parenting and job skills and find child care. Program – (626) 458-1528 Located in El Monte. Offers Teen Parent Education, G.E.D. preparation courses and future pregnancy prevention. Serves El Monte, South El Monte and Pomona. SCHOOL-BASED PROGRAMS Note: In order to retain eligibility for financial assistance (CalWORKs), a teen parent must attend school. If the teen is unable to identify an appropriate school near the teen’s home, the teen will be assisted in this endeavor by a case manager in the CAL-LEARN program at the Department of Public Social Services. Los Angeles County Office of Education, Alternative Education – (562) 940-1873 Assists teen mothers residing outside of the city of Los Angeles in locating a school with infant care on campus.
