 Connecticut Department of Public Health Lead Poisoning Prevention and Control Program 2010 Lead‐Related Consumer Product Recalls Lead Poisoning Prevention and Control Program 410 Capitol Avenue, MS# 51‐LED Hartford, CT 06134 860‐509‐7299 Environmental Health Section, Lead Poisoning Prevention and Control Program The Lead Poisoning Prevention and Control Program (LPPCP) operates in concert with the Environmental Practitioner Licensure Unit in the Department of Public Health (DPH). The major goal is to eliminate confirmed elevated blood lead levels (>10μg/dL) in children less than 6 years of age in Connecticut by the year 2010. The underlying objective is to protect the health and safety of the people of Connecticut and to prevent lead poisoning and promote wellness through education and a wide range of lead poisoning prevention activities. These activities include: (1) monitoring environmental lead related health hazards, (2) regulating lead hazard identification, abatement and remediation contractors and activities, and the practitioners who provide lead consultant and lead abatement services, (3) providing testing and monitoring support in concert with the state laboratory, (4) collecting and analyzing environmental health data related to lead exposure, (5) developing lead poisoning prevention policies, laws, regulations and strategies, (6) maintaining a statewide lead surveillance data system, (7) providing case management, investigation oversight, and associated services for children ages 6 months through 6 years (in support of local health departments), and (8) providing community and professional outreach and educational services. Junior player sticks and replacement shafts are each identified by the markings "JUNIOR," "52 Flex" or "JUNIOR Flex 52." Youth player sticks are identified by the marking "YOUTH Flex 42" or "YTH Flex 42." These markings appear on all models on the narrow side of the stick shaft either near the top of the stick or near the blade. Junior replacement blades fit only the Junior sticks and are identified by the markings "P92" or "PM9" followed by "JR", which appear on the narrow side of the blade near where the shaft and blade are joined. Junior goal sticks are identified by the markings "P31 ‐ JR ‐ 22 ½" or "P31 JUNIOR ‐ FLEX 52 ‐ 22 ½" which appear on the narrow side of the stick shaft near the top of the stick. June 17, 2010 Boys’ and girls’ belts This recall involves two types of belts: The Cherokee boys’ belts and Circo girls’ belts. The Cherokee belts are black and brown reversible belts with heavy stitching in sizes M‐XL. The belts came in a pack of two with the numbers 202/08/0018, 202/08/0019 or 202/08/0020 embossed on the belt. The girls’ Circo belts are pink and white with heart buckles in sizes XS‐L. September 29, 2010 “S T U F F” and Paw Wall Hooks The wall hook sets were sold in three models: model numbers 74641 and 74642, constructed of five separate wooden letters spelling out the word “S T U F F” and model number 65262 consisting of four separate, different colored wooden paws. Model number 74641 has a Purple S, a Red T, an Orange U, a Green F and a Pink F. Model number 74642 has an Olive S, a Blue T, a Yellow U, a White‐striped F, and a Blue F. Attached to each letter is a painted metal coat hook with a painted wooden ball at the end. Each letter is approximately 4 inches long, 3/4 inches wide and 9 ¾ inches tall. Model number 65262 has four separate paw‐shaped wooden pieces of different colors ‐‐ red, blue, green and pink. Attached to each paw is a wooden peg with a wooden ball at the end. December 22, 2010 Ceramic piggy The recalled piggy bank is shaped like a pig and the body of the piggy bank is painted and lion banks yellow with floral designs. The ceramic lion bank is shaped like a lion and is painted yellow with a brown mane. The banks measure about 4 inches in length, 2.5 inches in width, and 3.5 inches in height. Only yellow banks with black plastic stoppers in the bottoms of the banks are being recalled. Banks with white or translucent stoppers are not being recalled.
