Auditions for musical start Monday
Two audiences separated by more than a
decade have followed
the adventures of some
largely fictional Coudersport teenagers as central
figures in a local musical, “Coudy Was Great in
’58.”
Another decade has
passed, and leaders of the
Potter-McKean Players
have decided it’s time to
revisit the adventures of
Booger Buchanan, Ronnie Fontana and some of
the other local notables.
They’ll be staging a
sequel to the locally produced musical and theatrical production, titled
“To Dream a Dream,”
later this year. Proceeds
will benefit Wounded
Warriors programs.
Auditions will be held
at 7 pm Monday, May 7,
at the United Methodist
Church in Port Allegany,
and at 7 pm Monday,
May 14, at the Laurelwood Inn, Coudersport.
Actors and vocalists are
needed.
Paul Herzig, who
portrayed the teen idol
Ronnie Fontana in the first
two performances and cowrote the scripts with Dr.
Francis Castano, will direct
and produce the ambitious
revue.
Its plot revolves around
members of a popular
singing group reuniting
after the passing of their
promoter. There will be
numerous flashbacks to
the 1950s and 1960s and
frequent references to local
landmarks, traditions and
individuals.
Actors and singers will
be needed to bring the production to life and performance dates in September
will soon be established.
More information is available from Paul Herzig in
Coudersport or Joel Anderson in Port Allegany.
Potter-McKean Players
are also planning a Christmas play in December.
