She was 89 years, five months and 19 days old. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Knut and Merle (Mott) Lorentzen; husbands, Charles O. Langdon and Thomas “Ted” Morgan; two daughters-in-law, Elva McCurry (Raymond), and Rachel Johnson; sisters-inlaw, Lorene (Earl) Confer and Geri Anderson; and brother-in-law, Glythe Tucker. Catherine is survived by her sons, Clint Landon (Connie) of Truth or Consequences, N.M.; Bill (W.O.) Langdon (Sandy) of Lamar, Colo.; stepson, Tom Morgan (Roberta) of Albany, Ore.; stepson-inlaw, Roy Johnson of Lamar, Colo.; two grandsons, Edward Langdon (Emilda) of Evans, Colo., and Riley Langdon (Lindsay) of Fountain, Colo.; 10 greatgrandchildren; two sisterin-laws, Dorothy Tucker of Colorado Springs and Ada Morrison of Laramie, Wyo.; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. Catherine went to Clover Meadow School through the eighth grade in Clover Meadow, Colo. She graduated in 1945 from Lamar Union High School in Lamar, Colo. She went to work at Wheelers Grocery and met Charles. They were married Jan. 1, 1949, and made their home in Lamar, Colo. She worked at Wheelers Grocery as a clerk. After Clint was born, the family moved to Anaheim, Calif., and she helped the family business working at Knots Berry Farm. She and Dollie Langdon made bonnets and sold them at the gift shop. After several years, they moved back to Lamar, where she ran a boarding house at 204 S. Third St., in Lamar, Colo. Bill was born during these years, and in 1956, they bought a Skelly Gas Station with Bulk Gas & Oil delivery. Catherine ran the station and kept their own books, while Charles made the deliveries. They bought Bristol Machine Shop in 1960, again she kept the books and continued running the business while raising two rambunctious boys. They sold this business and in 1962 they bought May Valley Store & Repair in May Valley, Colo. Catherine was mercantile store keeper and ran New Holland Part Business (the largest outside of Denver). She sold used cars, RVs and campers (large and small), and had a full service mechanic shop. They started coming down to Truth or Consequences in 1985. She continued to run May Valley Store & Repair until they closed the store in 1987. Catherine was always helping the boys with their livestock, working with the horses at home, and was active in various positions with Vaqueros Saddle Club (lifetime member) in Lamar, Colo. She was also a member of Lamar Rebekah’s for many years and a member of Home Demonstration Club in Lamar. Charles and Catherine were married 41 years. In 1997, while at a senior trip in Laughlin, Nev., she met Ted Morgan. They were married in May and made their home year round in Truth or Consequences, N.M. They loved their retirement lifestyle in Truth or Consequences. She played May I cards, shuffled with other seniors, beading and dancing at the Play House in Truth or Consequences. She enjoyed cooking and baking, and having family and friends over for a good game of Mexican Train (Dominos) and Fast Track. They were also active members of the Moose Lodge of Buena Vista, Colo., and Truth or Consequences and VFW Auxiliary. They fished and traveled together, and enjoyed visiting with the grandchildren, later the great-grandchildren as well. Ted and Catherine were married 12 years. Catherine became an active member of Church at the Butte in Elephant Butte, N.M., where she helped with meals, was a door greeter, helped with decorations, helped with transportation and really “anywhere” she was needed. She will be missed, but we know she has gone on before us to be in a much better place, with her Lord and Savior. Catherine’s wishes were to be cremated. A Memorial Celebration Service will be held Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at 10 a.m., at Church at the Butte, with Rev. Bruce Morrison officiating, 516 State Highway 195, in Elephant Butte, with graveside services to be held at the Fairmont Cemetery in Lamar, Colo., on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at 10 a.m., with Rev.
