Saturday Schedule
Special “Admission” for these Saturday
events is a contribution of consumable
items frequently used at the Center
(Examples: Trash bags (13 gal. or 39 gal.),
Kleenex, zip-close bags, Clorox wipes, hand
sanitizer, dry erase markers, paper towels,
bottled water, 5 oz. Dixie cups, etc.)
June 13th (11a.m. – noon) JuniorFest of
Drag Racing from Cordova Dragway
The JuniorFest is an event that is for the
little dragsters and kids ages 8-17. Local
junior dragsters will display cars in our
parking lot. Attendees can see the cars up
close. A short program on Junior racing
will be included and participants will be
provided tickets to attend the JuniorFest
the following weekend. (June 20-21)
July 25 (11:00 - noon) American Red
Cross “Masters of Disaster” - Family
emergency disaster preparedness.
August 15 (11:00 - noon) “Intro to
Geocaching” with Rocky Kampling.

Reading Program:
The “early out” reading program
continues on WEDNESDAYS (1:30-3:30)
until May 27th. Sponsored by Target,
children (grades K-3) engage in literacy
activities, crafts, games, songs and interact
with 25 exhibits.
Family Fun Night!
Thursday, June 4th , in conjunction with
Community Circle of Care and sponsored
in part by the 3-M Foundation. Join us from
5:30 – 7 p.m.
Felix Adler Day!!!
June 27th (10 a.m. – 3 p.m.)
Honor the memory of the Center’s
namesake, Felix Adler, a great clown with
Ringling Brothers, Barnum, & Bailey for 50
years…
Join us outdoors, in our parking lot, for
carnival games, prizes, face painting, food
and fun! Punch cards will be available ($5)
for the activities. The Center will also be
open!

ISU Extension!
Join Andrea Ryan June 18th, 25th, July
2nd, 9th and 16th (1:00 - 3:30 PM ?) for 5
different programs inspired by exhibits at
the Children’s Discovery Center. Topics
include Amazing Airways, Bubble Magic,
Building Blocks, Dramatic Play/Acting and
Healthy Bodies. Planned for elementaryaged youth. Advance registration is

Attractions!
The “Leap Frog” to Literacy program is
funded by United Way and is now
available. Increase children’s reading
readiness and literacy skills and have fun
while exploring learning with your child!
“A-MAZING AIRWAYS” – a unique
action-filled science and sensory exhibit for
children and families – a new PERMANENT
EXHIBIT. This exhibit was acquired with
funding from the Community Foundation
of the Great River Bend, Clinton County
Community Development Association, and
the Pearson Foundation.
The Kapla block exhibit is enjoyed by
many and is a permanent addition at the
Center. Come and spend some time
creating and building with family and
friends! Our Center has the largest Kapla
block exhibit in Iowa.

Field Trips
Please schedule your next field trip or
Scout group outing at the Discovery Center.

Special rates are available for large groups.
Valued Volunteers
The Center appreciates all of our
volunteers and realizes we could not offer
such a great place for children without
many dedicated and wonderful volunteers.
We welcome back past volunteers and
invite new volunteers. Call us & join the
fun as we establish our summer schedules
for our valued volunteers. THANKS!
Gift Shop
Keep the Children’s Discovery Center
in mind for gift-giving ideas! Our gift shop
has a variety of gift giving ideas: Kapla
blocks can be purchased for gifts or family
fun! The Discovery Center sells Brio© train
and track pieces, “Melissa & Doug” items,
Odyssey toys, and books, as well as other
quality infant, toddler, and children’s toys!
We offer a large selection of items from
$1 to $9.

Birthday Parties
Birthday parties are $60
(Times: Saturdays
10:30 – 12:00;
1:00 – 2:30;

A $25 deposit is required
to secure date.
