The Riverside Rendezvous
is one of the highlights of the
season at the St. Francis golf
club. This event, which celebrated
it’s 30th year, was held Aug. 15
through Aug. 17 on a cool, rainy
weekend.
Ninety-four golfers, in twoman teams, participated in either
the championship, first, second or
third flight, during the weekend.
Taking the top prize was the team
of Gerald Lauer and Greg Lauer,
who won the championship flight.
Wade Quiggle and Branson Real
came in second while Jon Roelfs
and Cale Rieger placed third. Two
teams tied for fourth place in the
flight, the team of Dale Crabtree
and Derek Crabtree and the team
of Tom Smull and Dev Mull.

A Sisters In Serenity women’s

Students complete
hunter certification

Seven perspective candidates
entered the hunter safety course
held through the Kansas Wildlife
and Parks on Aug. 12, 14, 15
and 16 at the Cheyenne County
Wildlife club house. Following
the four days of instruction all of
the candidates passed the test and
received their certification card.
Attending the class this year
were Jerry White, Matthew White,
Payton Beims, Trisha Zweygardt,
Kyler Zweygardt, Echo Jones and
Gustava Jardine.
“This was a small class,” Chet
Gardner, instructor said. “But they
were of high quality.”
Hunter
safety
instructors
besides Mr. Gardner include Tim
Stimbert, Dick Rohweder and
Francis O’Leary,
The size of the class also allowed
time for individual instruction.
According to the Kansas law,
people who are 27-years old or
younger and want to hunt must
carry a certification card along with
their hunting license. Certification
cards can be obtained only after
the individual has completed a
hunter education course and all
hunters who were born on or after
July 1, 1957, must complete the
course.
Those attending the class must
be 11-years old or turn 11 by the
last day of class. Others who have
previously taken the class are
eligible to renew their hunting
knowledge and skills.
