With larger needles and using 2 strands of
yarn held together, cast on 80 (86, 92) sts.
Work in K1, p1 rib for 5 cm [2”], end with a
wrong side row, increasing 1 st in centre of
last row – 81 (87, 93) sts.
Row 1 (Right Side): P8 (11, 14) for Rev St st,
*k2, p2, beginning with Row 1, work 15 sts in
Cable st, p2; repeat from * 2 more times, k2,
p8 (11, 14) for Rev St st.
Work in patterns as established until piece
measures 36 cm [14”] from beginning, end
with a wrong side row.
Shape Armhole
Cast off 3 sts at beginning of next 2 rows, 2
sts at beginning of next 2 (4, 4) rows, then 1
st at beginning of next 4 (4, 6) rows – 67 (69,
73) sts.
Work until Armhole measures 16 (18, 20) cm
[6½ (7, 8)”], end with a wrong side row.
Shape Neck and Shoulders
Mark centre 35 sts for Neck.
Next Row (Right Side): Work to centre marked
sts, join a second ball of yarn, cast off centre
35 sts, working k2tog in center of 15 sts of
Cable st, work to end of row.
Working both sides at same time with
separate balls of yarn, cast off 2 sts from each
Neck edge once.
AT SAME TIME, cast off 7 (7, 8) sts from each
side edge once, then 7 (8, 9) sts from each
side edge once.
FRONT
Work as for Back until Armhole measures 12
(14, 16) cm [4½ (5½, 6)”], end with a wrong
side row.
Shape Neck
Mark centre 25 for Neck.
Next Row (Right Side): Work to centre marked
sts, join a second ball of yarn, cast off centre
25 sts, working k2tog in center of 15 sts of
Cable st, work to end of row.
Working both sides at same time with
separate balls of yarn, cast off 3 sts at each

AT SAME TIME, when piece measures same
