One Size 10-1/2 circular needle 24” long

DEFINITION
SSK = slip, slip, knit (slip next two stitches one at a time insert left needle into
fronts of slipped stitches and knit them together) slip all stitches knitwise.
PROJECT BAG
Body of Bag: Cast on 130 sts, place marker, join in round being careful not to
twist sts. Knit 1 round, Purl 1 round for a total of 4 rounds.
Begin pattern stitch:
Round 1: * SSK, K9, K2tog *, repeat from * across round.
Round 2: Knit.
Round 3: * SSK, K7, K2tog *,repeat from * across round.
Round 4: Knit.
Round 5: * SSK, (yo, K1) 5 times, yo, K2tog *, repeat from * across round.
Round 6: Purl
These 6 rows = 1 pattern repeat. Work a total of 11 repeats—approx. 18”.

Top of Bag:
Bind off 10sts, Knit 55 sts, bind off 10 sts, Knit 55 sts.
Working on last 55 sts only:
** Knit 3 rows, decrease 1 st on 1st row. (54 sts) - next row
(Eyelet row): K1, yo, * K2tog, yo *, repeat from * to * to last stitch, K1. Knit 2
more rows, bind off loosely.** Reattach yarn to 1st 55 sts and work from ** to

Finishing: Weave in ends. Sew Scallop edge along bottom of bag. Place bar of
handle through eyelet openings on each side of top of bag.
Optional: Make and sew a cloth lining into the bag.

strength of conventional ring-spun cotton. We suggest that for
the best results you treat this as you would a hand painted yarn
and alternate the skeins every few rows when using more than
one skein of yarn in your project. To assure an overall blended
effect, knit with two hanks, working 2-4 rows from each.
