Chabot’s 2014
Spring Auction
Each year, Chabot looks forward to gathering together for a common cause –
to demonstrate how important our children and their education are to us! This
year’s “Spring Fling” Auction has a fundraising goal of $150,000, to ensure
that our dynamic enrichment programs — music, science, art, media, library,
gardening, P.E. and Spanish — continue to thrive. The Auction happens in two
phases – the Online Auction, and the Gala event.
The Online Auction launches on Wednesday, March 26, and ends on Thursday,
April 3. Our procurement team has secured items from over 500 generous
donors. New this year, bidders will have access to every party. We have
something for every budget and interest!
The Gala will be held on Saturday, April 5, at the Greek Ascension Community
Center. This year’s venue will be decorated with beautiful art and craft created
by our children – come be inspired by their creativity.
The Gala evening begins with a complimentary glass of champagne while
you peruse the Silent Auction tables. Try one of our signature cocktails at the
no-host bar while you mix and mingle. After the last silent auction table closes,
take your seat to enjoy a delicious three-course meal. Chris Schreiber, former
PTA President, will serve as our Master of Ceremonies and assist professional
auctioneer Jane Alexiandis with this year’s Live Auction. We will close out the
night by announcing the raffle winners of the Wine Cellar, Beer Cave, and
PUBLIC Bike, and presenting a photo montage of Chabot students.
Please use this catalog as your guide to the 2014 Chabot Auction experience.
We’ve listed all of our Live and Silent Auction offerings and helpful instructions
which start on page 6.
The Chabot Auction is a time to celebrate our wonderful school and continue
building our Chabot community. We thank you for joining us!

Special Features
Welcome Champagne
A glass of bubbly, compliments of The Grubb Company, will welcome you
when you arrive at the gala! Cheers!
INSTANT WINE CELLAR RAFFLE
This vast array of wine comprises donations from Chabot parents, teachers
and staff. The opportunity to win this collection can be yours by purchasing
one ticket for $30 or two tickets for $50. We will only sell 150 raffle tickets, so
be sure to purchase yours before they sell out! You may buy tickets prior to
the gala by contacting Sally Barry ([email protected]). Thank you to
all of the generous wine donors! The winner will be announced at the Gala.
BEER CAVE RAFFLE
In addition to an Instant Wine Cellar, we will be holding our inaugural Beer
Cave raffle. The Chabot community generously donated to our Beer Cave,
which ranges from popular stouts to locally-brewed beers. This Beer Cave
can be yours by purchasing one ticket for $30 or two tickets for $50. We
will only sell 150 raffle tickets, so be sure to purchase yours before they
sell out. You may buy tickets prior to the gala by contacting Steven Meyer
([email protected]). Thank you for all the generous beer donations!
The winner will be announced at the Gala.
PUBLIC BIKE RAFFLE
Similar to last year, we will be selling raffle tickets to win a seven-speed bike
from PUBLIC! You’ll be turning heads riding on one of their European-styled
bikes that have been featured in Vogue, ELLE Decor and Sunset. Raffle
tickets will only be sold at the gala: one for $30; two or more for $25 each.
Winner can choose between the V7 or C7 in available colors, and may also
pay the difference to upgrade the bike to a different model. The winner will
be announced at the gala.

RAISE YOUR PADDLE
Throughout the Live Auction, the auctioneer will ask everyone to raise their
paddle in the name of supporting enrichment programs at Chabot. We will
have four paddle calls in varying amounts: $1,000, $500, $250, and $100.
If you feel you are able to contribute, please consider making a monetary
donation at this time. Thank you in advance for your generosity!
increments will be indicated on each bid sheet; please honor them. To be
valid, bids must comply with the minimum bids and be legible. Signing
your name and bid amount on the bid sheet constitutes a legal contract to
purchase the silent auction item at the price you stated, if your bid is the
winning bid. The last (highest) valid bid entered prior to the table closing
will be the winning bid.
CLAREMONT MIDDLE SCHOOL “SILENT” FUND-A-NEED
See, Think and Wonder! Design Space Thinking & Making is a new
Claremont Middle School elective focused on encouraging creative,
nonconforming, unconventional approaches to design. While the classroom
has already been transformed from a disheveled art room to a colorful design
workspace, there is more to do! To take this class to the next level, it needs
equipment to create a fully functional maker space. Top priority items include
adjustable -height work tables and a selection of tools to make tinkering—
and problem solving—possible! Please support this endeavor with your
fund-a-need donation.
Bidding for Parties
All hosts have established a maximum number of “seats” for their parties, and
they are available on either a fixed price or biddable basis. All prices listed
are per person and not per couple. Fixed price seats are filled on a first come
first serve basis, where your spot is guaranteed at a certain price. Please note
that all of the fixed price parties will be available in the online auction, so it
is possible for all seats to be filled prior to the gala. We recommend you bid
early! Biddable seats are available on a progressive bidding basis. The bidding
starts at the lowest level, say $30/person. Once the $30 spots are full, following
bidders will take their spots at the next level, say $35/person. Therefore,
some people may pay different amounts to attend the same event. Check the
bidding often to make sure no one has outbid you!
PHOTO BOOTH
A photo booth, compliments of Maxi Lilley and Red Oak Realty, will be
available during the Silent Auction for guests to enjoy. Step in the booth,
have your photo taken, and take home a free memento of this special
evening!
The Way to Play
Live Auction
The auctioneer will open bidding at the minimum bid amount. To bid on
an item, hold your card with your bidder number up until the auctioneer
acknowledges your bid. The highest bidder acknowledged by the auctioneer
shall be the winner of the item. A bid acknowledged by the auctioneer is a
legal contract to purchase the item. If a group is bidding on one item, please
designate one person to place your combined bid.
Payment
All items must be paid for by the end of the evening. We gladly accept
personal checks made payable to “Chabot PTA,” credit cards and cash. To
speed check-out, please register your credit card during check-in.
Silent Auction
The silent auction begins at 5:30 pm. At the auction, a bid sheet is
displayed near each item. To place a bid, write your last name, bid number,
and amount of your bid on the bid sheet. The initial bid amount and bid
Item Pick Up
