zeitgeist yarns presents silk kerchief skill level: wicked easy A cute triangular kerchief to wear. Designed to show off the self-striping properties, drape and texture of Noro Silk Garden Sock, this little scarf is a quick, simple and fun knit. Materials: YARN: Noro Silk Garden Sock, 40% lamb's wool, 25% silk, 25% nylon and 10% kid mohair. 330 yds per 100 g ball. 1 ball 245 (Grey, blue, Teal & Copper) -Color 1 and 1 ball 269 (Naturals) - Color 2 NEEDLE: 1 3.25 mm (US Size 3) 32” Circular needle. (Or size needed to obtain gauge). ETCETERA: 1 stitch marker Nominal ammout of smooth waste yarn in comprable gauge. GAUGE: 20 sts and 48 rows = 4” in Garter Stitch after blocking. While gauge is not imperative in this project, please check it anyway. SKILLS NEEDED: Knitting, yarn overs, provisional cast-on. (Yep, that’s it!) FINISHED SIZE: See schematic below. Directions: Set-Up: -Using waste yarn, provisionally cast on 3 sts as follows: Chain 5 sts and fasten. Using needles and Color 1, pick up and knit 1 st in each of 3 bumps in the back of chain. (3 sts). -Rows 1-6: Knit. -Row 7: Pick up and knit 1 st in each of 3 garter ridges along side of work. Remove provisionally cast on sts and place 3 sts onto left needle. Knit these three sts. (9 sts). Change to Color 2. Row 8: K3, yo, K1, yo, pm, K1, yo, K to 3 sts remain, yo, K3. (13 sts). Row 9: Knit all sts, slipping the marker as you come to it. Start Pattern Repeat: ” schematic: 17” 25 Change to Color 1. Row 1: K3, yo, K to marker, yo, slip marker, K1, yo, K to 3 sts remain, yo, K3. (4 sts inc). Row 2: Knit all sts, slipping the marker as you come to it. Change to Color 2. Row 3: K3, yo, K to marker, yo, slip marker, K1, yo, K to 3 sts remain, yo, K3. (4 sts inc). Row 4: Knit all sts, slipping the marker as you come to it. Repeat rows 1-4 until 31 times or until desired finished size. 36” Finishing: Block. Weave in all ends.
