De Poef [De Poof] Wope [woolen rope] your seat Designed for Pollika by Tina Maat-Kristensen and Lesley Cuming De Poef in Cranberry Wope featured in Vogue Knitting ‘Whats New’ Fall 2011 Measurements Diameter width 44cm/17” Height 38cm/15” Notes Attach Wope together by wrapping thread or strong yarn around 2cm/1” of each end Materials 2 hanks of Wope (50m/55 yards) 2 circular needles size US35/ 19mm – 60cm/23” Foam 42cm/16 1/2” in diameter and 36cm/14” in height. (One piece of foam will make for a sturdier seat but it is easy to glue (Welbond) foam scrap layers together). Recommended: Cover foam with complimentary lining. Body CO 13 stitches. Slip first stitch of every row and knit in stocktinette stitch 39 rows (150cm/59”) Cast off all stitches but do not cut Wope. Bottom Pick up 39 stitches from the edge of the body for the bottom of the ottoman. Place marker at the first stitch Knit 2 rows Next row *[K2tog, K4]* repeat, end with K1 (32st) Next row K2 *[K2tog, K3]* repeat end with K2tog (25st) (there will be K2tog next to each other) Next row *[K2, K2tog,]*repeat (19st) Next row *[K2, K2tog,]*repeat (15st) Next row *[K1, K2tog,]*repeat (12st) Cut Wope, leave a long enough end to pull tightly through all the stitches. Wrap thread or strong yarn around the end and one of the stitches on the inside to secure end. Repeat the bottom pattern to create the top. Insert the foam after knitting the first 2 rows.
