D e p a r t m e n t o f P u b l i c Wo r k s The City of Oklahoma City Storm Water Quality Management (405) 297-1774 Fourth Quarter, 2011 INSIDE THIS ISSUE: Pesticide Workshop HHW Collection Industrial Workshop Construction Workshop MS4 Training Conference—Arkansas 2 EPA Revises Numeric Limits for Construction Site Run-off 3 4 NPDES PESTICIDE GENERAL PERMIT ISSUED On November 16, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) sent revised Construction and Development Effluent Limitation Guidelines (ELG) to the Office of Management and Budget. The agency withdrew numeric turbidity limits proposed in 2009. These new guidelines are based on new treatment performance data and will set the first numeric limits for storm water runoff. The numeric limits will replace the technology-based ELG limits currently used in EPA’s construction general permit. The agency extended the expiration date for its current general permit to February 15, 2012, to provide time to revise the ELG and offer a The final NPDES public comment period. Ultraviolet light demonstration conducted to emphasis importance of proper personal protection equipment while applying pesticides. Fall Collection Bruce Teel conducts Safety meeting for Storm Water Quality, Streets, Traffic and Drainage Maintenance. Management Division recognizes industries and businesses that have made significant contributions to protect the waters, watersheds and storm sewer system of the City of Oklahoma City. Mr. James Long with Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center received the 2011 Storm Water Achievement Award. The Center’s program requires constant monitoring and maintenance of 134 storm sewer outlets. Responsibilities are tantamount to managing a small MS4. The Conference was held in Hope, Arkansas on August 4, 2011. One hundred twenty (120) statewide businesses and vendors were impressed with Oklahoma City’s Storm Water Industrial Program.
