LEXUS IS250/350 CONVERTIBLE 2010 - WIND SCREEN Procedure Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation. These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document. This document covers such items as:• Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.). • Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.). • Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.). • Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.). Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document. 1. Vehicle Preparation and Protection (a) Open the trunk and position the function board to the convertible operating position otherwise the roof will not operate. (Fig. 1-1) Fabric trunk floor cover Must be clear of all items underneath Function Board Fig. 1-1 CAUTION: Make sure there are no items underneath the fabric trunk floor cover portion of the function board otherwise it may cause damage. (b) Close the trunk and turn the ignition to the ON position and press the convertible roof switch to lower the convertible top to the full open position. (Fig. 1-2) (c) Slide and tilt both front seats forward to gain access to the rear cabin. (d) Apply protective blankets over the outside painted surfaces of the vehicle. Front Receiver Installation Trim Plug Removal Tool (a) Locate the trim plug in the inner rear trim panel. (Fig. 2-1) (b) Place masking tape around the perimeter of the trim plug to protect the trim panel. Trim Plug (c) Using the trim plug removal tool, carefully remove the trim plug starting from the rear edge of the plug as shown in Fig. 2-1. Fig. 2-1 Key Ways Key Ways NOTE: Insert the tip of the trim plug removal tool under the rear edge of the plug and rock the remove tool side to side to lift the plug out. CAUTION: Be careful not to cut or damage the padded trim panel. (d) Once the trim plug is removed, discard the trim plug and replace it with correct colored trim plug with hole from the installation kit. RH and LH Shown Fig. 2-2 (1) There are RH and LH trim plugs. The trim plugs are marked “RH” and “LH” on the bodies. (Fig. 2-2) (2) Install the LH trim plug into the driver’s side of the vehicle and the RH trim plug into the passenger side of the vehicle. Key Ways (3) The trim plugs are specifically oriented to the curvature of the trim panel. When installing, make sure the key ways on the trim plug correspond to the key ways in the trim panel. (Figs. 2-2 and 2-3) Fig. 2-3 (e) Insert the Allen bolt and washer into the front attachment sleeve using the ¼ Drive 5 mm Hex (Allen) socket, ¼ Drive extension and ⅜ to ¼ adaptor. (Figs. 2-5 & 2-6) (g) Torque the fastener to 44 lbf-in. (5 Nm) Allen Wrench Torque Wrench Fig. 2-5 NOTE: As the installation of the sleeve and fastener is a blind installation, use the trim plug to guide the fastener into the weld nut. (h) Repeat the same process for the opposite side. Fig. 2-6 3. Rear Under Head Rest Receiver Installation (a) With the rear head rests in the up position, install the under head rest receiver between the rear head rest and the top of the back seat. (Fig. 3-1) (1) The ribbed underside of the head rest receiver faces the bottom and is the side that rests on top of the seat back. The smooth top faces the bottom of the head rest. Fig. 3-1 (b) Slide the head rest receiver in the space between the top of the seat back and the bottom of the head rest. (Fig 3-3) (d) Repeat this same process for the opposite side. Fig. 3-3 4. Installation of Wind Screen (a) Remove folded wind screen from storage bag. (b) Place the Customer Care Car in the storage bag, zip it closed and snap the buckle closed. Fig. 4-1 (c) Fold the storage bag in half and place it in the trunk. (d) Unfold the wind screen to the install position. (1) Place wind screen on flat surface. (Fig. 41) (2) Fold out the upper section of the wind screen until it lays flat. A click should be heard. (Fig. 44) Fig. 4-4 (4) Rotate the wind screen assembly so the vertical portion of the wind screen is laying flat on the surface. (Fig. 4-5) Fig. 4-5 (5) Fold out the bottom portion of the wind screen. (Fig. 4-6) Fig. 4-6 (6) Secure pin ① in the hole ② by moving the control mechanism ③ to the side. (Fig. 4-11 & 4-12) (f) Repeat the same process for the opposite side. (Fig. 4-13) (h) Line up the front attachment on the wind screen with the front attachment sleeve in the trim panel. (i) Grasp the front attachment handle, gently pull the handle inward and rotate the handle Fig. 4-13 90° and gently release the attachment rod into the front sleeve. (Fig. 4-14) (j) Repeat for the opposite side. (k) Pull up the vertical section to the up position and close the convertible top. Check: Look For: Accessory Function Checks Check that the two (2) rear and two (2) front attachments are securely installed and that the wind screen is held tightly in position. All attachments are securely installed and the wind screen is held tightly in position. Ensure the customer Care Card is located in the wind screen storage bag. Customer Care Card is in the storage bag. Verify the storage bag has been placed in the trunk. Storage bag is in the trunk. Inspect torque on front sleeve attachments. 44 lbf-in. (35 to 53 lbf-in.) Confirm folding operation of vertical section of wind screen. Vertical section folds up and down properly. Rear head rest receivers installed correctly. Ribbed bottom side of head rest receivers face the tops of the seat backs and are fully seated against the head rest posts. Vehicle Function Checks Confirm convertible top closes correctly without contacting the vertical wind screen frame. Convertible top opens and closes correctly without contacting the wind screen. Confirm rear head rests tilt fully downward with the wind screen removed and with the rear head rest attachments in place. Head rests tilt fully downward. Inspect vehicle for damage, dirt or trash.
