THE JORDAN AUTOMOTIVE GROUP STORY
In 1949, Jordan H. Kapson established a small Indiana-based Dodge dealership in a small two-story building on one and
a half acres of land with showroom capacity for three cars. That dealership, now called Jordan Automotive Group, has
grown through the years, and today is comprised of Jordan Ford, Jordan Volvo, Jordan Toyota, Jordan Scion and Jordan
Pre-Owned. In fact, it has been the largest Ford fleet dealer in the United States for 18 of the last 25 years. The company
is now run by the late Kapson’s son, Craig, who joined his father’s company in 1972.
Craig graduated from Olivet College and had extensive sales training at a large Ford truck operation on the East Coast.
He also had training at several Ford marketing institutes and is proud to continue to build the legacy his father created.
THE CHALLENGE: STAYING ONE STEP AHEAD OF THE COMPETITION
When it comes to superb customer service, the younger Kapson and his nearly 140 employees at Jordan Automotive
Group pull out all the stops. Besides offering superior maintenance and service, the company and its family of dealerships offer free manicures and massages to customers who are waiting for their vehicles to be serviced. Customers who
purchase a vehicle from Jordan Automotive get the Jordan Way Platinum Member Card, which entitles them to free car
washes for life (with the dealership’s state-of-the-art Ryko car wash) and five cents off every gallon of gas at select BP
Stations. Jordan Automotive also offers Bingo and other events and activities for its valued customers.
“We have always been an innovative dealership,” Kapson says. “What makes this business fun is always trying to think
outside the box and look at other things we can do to enhance our presence in the market.”
THE RYKO ADVANTAGE
In 1980, when Jordan Automotive purchased its first Ryko car wash (a Nova drive-through system), it took about eight
minutes to wash a vehicle and the dealership had to use a few employees to help drive the cars through. Now on its
third Ryko car wash, a Rocket Conveyer System, Jordan Automotive’s customers can drive their own vehicles through
and each wash only takes about four minutes, saving the company both time and money while allowing even more
vehicles to pass through.

CREATING A CAR CARE OASIS TO DIFFERENTIATE YOURSELF
“I have been able to wash more cars more efficiently with fewer people. We’re
now washing about 4,000 vehicles a month, and it’s only costing me $2.69 per
vehicle as opposed to $10 in 1980,” Kapson says, adding that his customers
also can choose to vacuum their vehicles after going through the wash.
Now Jordan Automotive has just one employee manning the Ryko Rocket
Conveyer car wash, which offers effective and faster load times, superior
throughput and wash quality, and ultimate flexibility for both Jordan Automotive and its customers. The Rocket provides maximum chemical coverage
and equipment enhancements, which improve cleaning results. Its multistage loading capability allows traffic to flow smoothly through the wash,
making customers happy while increasing profit potential for owners like
Jordan Automotive. It features Ryko’s industry-leading CleanTouch brush
technology, which delivers thorough, safe washing and superior cleaning
results. The Rocket has maximum chemical coverage and is ideal for highvolume sites like Jordan Automotive.
Jordan Automotive also uses Ryko chemicals, including RainShield and Tire
Shine. “RainShield is important in our business,” Kapson says. “It helps dry the
car faster. For our inventory, I run the vehicles on the lots though the car wash
and it helps protect the vehicles longer.”
“

Ryko has a history of dependability,
and the service has always been
excellent.”
