Pedestrian Training– Class 3
On Thursday year 3 did pedestrian training. We
were put in groups and learnt to cross the road
near the parked cars. We were told to stop, look
and listen, to watch where we were going, and to
always cross the road in a straight line. We learnt
that the ‘bumpy bits’ at the end of the path by the
road were there to help blind people cross the
road. Even though it was raining we really enjoyed the pedestrian training! Matilda Pickering

Assessment Week
Next week is the Year 6 SATs week. These are the statutory tests that Year 6 have to sit. The
children have worked really hard and are well prepared. Hopefully they will get plenty of sleep
and will remember to bring a bottle of water with them to help their brains keep hydrated. It will
be great when the week is over!
Year 2 children have papers which they undertake over a few weeks. These are marked internally and the results are merely used to inform our teacher assessment.
Years 3– 5 children will undertake optional SATs papers and again, these are just used to form
part of the picture of where the pupils in the core subjects.

Money for nothing - a school gift for free!
Raise money for school - by shopping!!!
Dear Parents,
Yes, that’s right. By visiting your usual online stores, such as Amazon, Your M&S and John Lewis, via The Giving Machine, you will earn cash for school.
It’s not too late to help school benefit. The PTA’s registered school with
www.thegivingmachine.co.uk through which every online transaction generates a free donation.
TheGivingMachine passes on a sales commission as a free donation to a chosen charity each
time you shop at one of their affiliated online stores.
Just enter the store’s website through the TheGivingMachine and shop normally. It doesn't cost
extra - and you don't have to buy anything extra.
Hundreds of schools are raising hundreds of pounds a year.
It really is money for nothing
Shops are in the scheme includeTesco, Sainsbury’s, Argos, John Lewis, Next and eBay.
So how does it work? Typically, an online shop will be donating 3-4% of the total sale price. So, if
a giver bought an item at £100 via a link on TheGivingMachine, an expected £3.75 donation
would be generated. Specific donation amounts are shown next to each shop. Getting started is simple:
Go to www.thegivingmachine.co.uk and register, selecting Wheldrake with Thorganby School
PTA as beneficiary.
Using the search bar, go to your chosen shop.
Buy your goods, raising money for school in the process. Simple!
Please ask your family and friends to join too
Many thanks and happy shopping.
